Got the hellraiser, it was a very tasty burger. The peppers had a little bit of spice, but would not consider it spicy. The bun did not hold up to the sandwich, but can't say that I minded, being the burger was that good. Got an order of tots with my meal. They were nice and hot, would have liked a few more. Looking for a unique dinner spot to try Yelp pulled up the zombie bar and grill. Menu on line looked good so thought we would give it a try. They have not updated on line menu and has new kitchen owner. With very limited items. Good drinks and we did share an order of fried pickles/Jalapeños with ranch dip. We went to this cool, little dive bar on a stopover. Andrea, the bartender, is a refreshing individual. She welcomed us with kindness and made sure we were satisfied every step of the way. The chef and owner of the kitchen, Chris, was in the back hand battering our fried pickles and hand cutting the fries. Free pool on Sunday night and tunes from the jukebox made it a fun atmosphere. I had the popper burger, and it was excellent! Highly recommend this little bar for homemade food and friendly, attentive staff! read more

When I visited Zombiez, a nice bartender named Andrea served my father and I for his first beer in 4 years. She was very friendly and since we were new to the area told us about some cool stuff we could do while visiting. The aesthetic was an awesome zombie post-apocalyptic scene, which reminded us of our favorite holiday: Haloween. Zombiez is a great bar to chill out and throw back a few cold ones. read more

My business partner and I were in Amarillo for work from Colorado, and needed a local watering hole. We found it. Our barkeep, Michelle, was super cool, and made us feel right at home. She made us special shots to try and we loved them. The cook, Mike, made us some great food and was super passionate about his cooking craft, andit shows. Everyone, from the out of towners to the locals were very cool and friendly. This is definitely a very chill, laid back, watering hole. We were a little worried when we walked into this place, because it has no windows and looks like a real dive bar. What a pleasant surprise when we were helped by our server and received our orders -- a Juan of the Dead burger and a Hellraiser burger. Both were delicious with a good balance of flavors and just the right amount of heat for each of us. Our server was helpful and patient, since we were a bit disappointed that they were out of many of their beer choices. He told us there had been a festival the day before which depleted their stock. I only took a star away because of their limited choices of beer on a night when we really wanted to have those choices. If you're here for the food and you ordered what I ordered, you'll be disappointed. Pros: the woman who made my food was very courteous and polite. $2.00 special nightly. Cons: bartender was buzzing off shots and drink sips, buzzing in kind of an annoying way. She also charged me less than what I purchased to increase her tip which I'm not comfortable with. She was very involved with some folks at the corner of the bar, sampling food from the chef and yelling four letter words the whole time I was there. The mushroom burger was on what seemed to be regular white bread grocery store hamburger bun and the mushroom was cut up, along with diced up onion, not the ideal way cause all the ingredients fell out. So, I give 3 stars. If it were more of a "restaurant" than bar, I would give it 2. Plus the regular burgers are likely better than the one I had. This place is great! Came down from Albuquerque, NM for a band playing in this little place. I had a wonderful time, we all did!!! There is a couple pool tables as mentioned in other reviews, and there is a lot of really cool stuff on the walls everywhere, mostly license plates but it was really funky but in a really cool way. The prices for drinks are super cheap, but I'm not familiar with what normal prices for this area are. Two beers came to $5, and a beer and a jack and coke was $6.50. To me that is crazy cheap. Don't pass this place up, I know I will come back when I pass through amarillo again for sure read more

Place had some amazing chili of all things. Their $1 Taco Tuesday special was great as well. Had the chud cheeseburger(lg ring of cheese) and it was good. Mostly a local watering hole with no windows to the inside. They do have done outside seating, pool and a punching game. Definitely a dive bar and smoking allowed which was a surprise so go in expecting that with not much ventilation. I would go again as service was a bit slow but nice overall. Picked up a togo for lunch today. I had the 1/3# ole fashioned burger. The bun was perfectly toasted, the added caramelized onions were great. That's what I ended up eating. The burger was so overcooked and dry, it went in the trash minus the 2 bites I took of it. Also had the bacon and cheese fries. They were limp and the cheese was just a sprinkling at best. Something to keep in mind...it's a bar and reeks of smoke even though no one was smoking at lunch time. Update: kudos for customer service. Although, I feel bad as it was never my intention...they responded to my review on another site and have said that they are refunding the cost. read more

The bar service is great !!! But the older woman that cooks is nasty !! I ordered a burger with fries and it was terrible ! I was real hungry when I ate it but I wasn't enjoying it . It was sloppy and soggy and so were the fries . After I finished my meal I felt nauseous and had to leave to get sick at home . I came back much later and peeked in the kitchen and noticed how the cook doesn't wash her hands and is smoking and not wearing gloves . The cook handles the money when you order and doesn't wash her hands at all . I left again after seeing that and probably not ever eat there again . I have heard of many people who have gotten sick there from food poisoning and it happened to me !! DONT EAT THERE !!! read more

Just a little dive with throwback to BoonDocks and Route 66 . Thanks for the brief history lesson Cynthia. She was expert and friendly, and the Chefs wife. She had great suggestions: all of which we took . We ate cheese & bacon fries , onion rings , fried okra and green chili burgers w fried eggs , Carmelites onions ... . All items were hot , fresh and delicious . Then the chef prepared (a not on the menu item): "Zombie Balls" : a concoction of mozzarella cheese , chives , andouille sausage and mashed potatoes rolled in Panko - how can you go wrong -then deep fried - we loved being the guinea pigs . Cold beer , food was excellent ,great service , I came to late for homemade banana pudding but I'll be back . Thumbs up. read more

We tried this place for lunch for the first time. I really like the atmosphere they created (horror themed!). My husband said it was the best hotdog he has ever had in his life and was extremely satisfied. The okra was also delicious. Their burgers are great, too. On the menu, the burgers say that they are only cooked well done if requested. The only issue I had was that my burger came out well done even though I didn't ask for that. I asked the server if I needed to request it to be less well done (for future reference) and she informed me that it usually comes out medium. This didn't make the burger bad in any way. It just didn't fit my preferences or was what I was expecting given the notice in the menu. If you are looking to drink, they also have a bar. And if you're looking to kill some time, they also have pool tables. I look forward to trying them out again! read more
