It smelled really bad almost unbearable- like mold or mildew, when we went it and the salsa tasted like store bought. The staff was extremely nice but the food was not good and i wanted to like it since they were soo nice. We just the truck yard tacos- the tortillas literally fell apart and the meats were not great It was nice inside other than the smell. Also do not like places that sell pepsi product. But no matter want you have to make your own chips and salsa and I could tell the salsa for sure was store bought. Chips had alot of seasonings and also tasted store bought. COLD. Date studied the heating system. No heat vents in the area where we were sitting. Everyone in the restaurant had coats and on and some had gloves on. After spending 2 days with my dad in ICU at BSA, my cousin and I finally got away for fresh air, a decent meal and a strong drink to the closest restaurant, Joe Taco. We chose the patio. Our server began by telling us she was stressed and proceeds to go into detail about her dog's stomach issues and how much the vet bill was. We ordered the large margaritas and asked for spicy. There was either no tequila in them at all (but they DID have a whole diced jalapeño, which took up 1/3 of the glass), or a very chintzy amount because we didn't taste or feel anything and ended up ordering shots of tequila to add to them. Our friend ordered a Chelada, which had been made with margarita mix rather than fresh lime juice and was terrible! The food was edible, but nothing special. When the food came out, we still didn't have waters and asked for them again, only to be told she didn't forget them but her co-workers were daring her to steal a cupcake from a party going on inside. Came in late after driving in from out of town and was able to get a table quickly and was served complimentary chips and salsa. I devoured the salsa myself, and they were kind enough to bring more when I ordered my meal. I knock off a star because the food isn't like typical Mexican or New Mexican taste. As a native New Mexican, I was excited to see staffed sopapillas on the menu and had to try it. I had the David's special with both skinny meats, the beef and chicken. Neither one of them was spicy, but they both had good flavor with the peppers and onion more like a fajita flavor. I had it with beans and "papas" come to my surprise the papa's was mashed potatoes. This was very odd to me, but I didn't hate it. It had a good flavor but a bit unexpected and weird to have with my meal. Overall, the food was good but not typical Mex or New Mex more of a TexMex fusion, in my opinion. I would come again to try other menu items and given the good service and prices. Can't say enough good things about Joe Taco's barbecue brisket tacos. Ordered them to go along with the Baja fish tacos and a half gallon of the house margarita (only size available to go). I opted for the corn tortillas, which means you get three crispy tacos that are savory and so full of flavor, I was happily anticipating each bite. My order came with rice and beans. My daughter really liked her fish tacos, which came with mango salsa, chipotle ranch, rice and a veggie medley. She also got the crispy corn tortillas. My order was ready when I went to pick up. After a long day of cross-country road-tripping, the hubs and I stopped in Amarillo to get gas and a late lunch. I needed to hop on some wifi to upload stuff for work and a Yelp search revealed several highly rated spots with wifi including JT. Much to our amazement, JT also has a huge patio that is dog friendly, which was perfect (or so we thought) since we had one of our pups in tow. Bottom line: Great food, but beware of birds and bird poop!!! We were ambushed the entire time we were at JT's and even when we moved to a table farther from the tree, we still had to contend with the birds either pooping on our dog or trying to get our food. It really is a health and sanitation problem. We were greeted in a timely manner by a nice young man. When he inquired about our drink orders, I asked about drink specials and he said they had small beers on tap for only $2. Score! I'm not a huge beer drinker, but after the long day, I decided to go for it. The "small" beer really wasn't--it was definitely a Texas small, so excellent bang for your buck. The appetizers all looked amazing, but we settled on the green-chile-ground-beef queso. So yummy (but not so much when you're unsure if a bird just pooped in your cup of queso). The chips are also delicious! For my meal, I ordered a shrimp salad that the server recommended. It, too, was very good but I could only eat half of it before my entire appetite went away due to the poop situation. The hubs enjoyed his meal, which was some kind of carne dish. He let me try his rice and beans and they did not disappoint--as authentic as my abuela's. To be clear, the food at JT is awesome and having a pet-friendly patio is great. The bird situation, unfortunately, is not. I think we had between seven and ten poop issues--on us (bare skin and clothes), multiple times on our dog (which my husband thought was funny but not so much when he had to clean her), my work computer, and the table near our plates. We even had to request additional napkins to clean the messes and I went to the bathroom to clean my arm and jacket. It was pretty bad news bears. At one point, I had started throwing things at them to shoo them away and finally got completely fed up and sent the hubs inside to pay the bill while I took the dog to the car. I was a little disappointed that our server never warned us about the birds or recommended a different table. We were only one of two tables seated on the patio, so we certainly had other options for seating, though it seemed no matter where you sat, the pesky birds of all shapes, sizes, and colors would be lurking above or nearby. I'd not recommend you sit outside unless JT's decides to cut down the tree or take some serious bird-deterrent action. read more

I had some friends from out of town request that I take them to a Mexican food restaurant. I immediately thought of Joe taco. We all met there and we had the best time! The food was very good. I can't say enough about it ,as my friends thoroughly enjoyed it! So, when they come back in town again, we will come back to see you. I will give this restaurant 5 stars everyday! We ordered through "Uber eats" for delivery because we have an infant and it's difficult to get her out. They forgot to give the driver half the food but the staff was amazing and caught it, rather than ignoring it. Props to whoever caught it and props to the manager for handling it the right way. He sent a staff member to bring us the rest of the meal. Aside from that, (I was hoping for a coupon because I love the save money, but that's ok! Lol) OUR FOOD WAS INCREDIBLE. I didn't even know this place was here, seemingly hiding over near a lot of the hospital and medical buildings. I found them on Yelp and filed the information away to try sometime. Last night I decided to stop by. Being a Friday night, it was very busy but they were able to seat me pretty quickly. It seems to be a very popular place, very busy and noisy, full of talkative people. I saw all ages there from senior citizens down to babies in highchairs so I would say it is a very family-friendly place. It appeared very clean and all the workers seem to be quite cheerful and were obviously very busy running around taking care of their customers. It is a chain restaurant from what I understand although I've never heard of them before. Most of the meals were over $10 and I'm on a budget so I got a quesadilla with meat in it for about $9 before tax and tip. At first I ordered it with Carnitas meat but the server said they didn't have it and I wasn't sure if he meant they didn't carry it anymore or if he just meant they were out of it that evening. If they don't carry it anymore they should remove it from the menu. I asked him for a recommendation and he suggested the brisket. I asked him if it was tender because I have had brisket that was tough to chew and he said it was very tender and moist. He was absolutely right. It was delicious. The food arrived in a reasonable amount of time and was nice and hot. I've had a problem with some places where it has not arrived hot. I nibbled on their delicious chips and salsa while I waited. I like thinner chips and that's what these were. They had a nice seasoning salt on them and while I don't like over-salted items the seasoning was so good I was wishing there was a little bit more. It only covered the corners of some pieces, not all. The salsa tasted homemade although probably with canned tomatoes but still very good. The quesadilla was thick with cheese and meat and well worth the money. If it hadn't been so good I probably could have brought half home but I ate a little more than half because it was good. It didn't come with any sides except for avocado and sour cream, no beans and rice but I wouldn't have needed them. If I had any complaint, it might be that it to needed a touch more salt. Again, I dislike over-salted Foods, but theirs was a little on the bland side. Their guacamole was excellent. I guess they are well known for their stuffed avocado dish but I didn't want to spend that much tonight. It's more in the $10 range at the lunch price so I'll have to try to get back for lunch sometime between 11 a.m. and 3 p.m. The only other undesirable aspect of being there is that there was quite a bit of litter on the floor, straw wrappers etc that were never swept up the whole time I was there. If I was a mystery shopper I think they would get points off for that. All in all I give them a thumbs up and would have no problem recommending them and going back another time. read more

They don't have many booths and we did have to sit in a spot that had many windows so it was a little warm. Stopped here while passing through, great find. Easy access off I40 and on, plenty parking, indoor and outdoor seating. Friendly staff and service. Wife had the Heaven burrito, it was huge and the pulled pork was amazing; tender and juicy. I had Joe T dinner; one cheese enchilada with crispy taco, rice and charro beans. The red sauce on the enchilada was fantastic, mildly spicy don't have that in Oklahoma. Taco meat was flavorful and full of meat, charro beans is good as well.
