But the kids really wanted a close up bear sighting, which brought us to Yellowstone Bear World. It turned out to be a fantastic decision! ​We loved the drive through experience and got to see so many black and brown bears right outside our car window. Pro-tip: Go early before noon! On hot summer days, the bears start heading for the water or tree shade by afternoon. We saw a ton of bears on our first loop in the morning around 11, but significantly fewer when we did a final pass around 2:30 PM. The best part is that your admission lets you drive through as many times as you like! ​They do offer a bear cub bottle feeding experience, but it was already fully booked through August, so definitely reserve that well in advance if you want to do it. ​Even without the cub feeding, there was plenty to keep everyone entertained. ​Petting Zoo: The kids absolutely loved petting the adorable baby deer! ​More Wildlife: We spotted bison, elk, magpies, and even a bald eagle. ​Extras: They have a few fun amusement rides and a Dinosaur World exhibit that kept the kids engaged. couple of small heads up for management : Restrooms: The restrooms could definitely use more regular cleaning and restocking throughout the day, there were paper towels and toilet paper scattered everywhere when we used them. Rides: Three of the rides were out of order during our visit, which made the lines considerably longer for the remaining ones, especially the roller coaster (which is by far the best ride there!). ​It's a hassle free, highly rewarding stop for families wanting an up close animal encounter. We quickly realized there were many different animals throughout the drive-through area, including deer, bison, elk, and, of course, bears. At first, it was exciting to see them so close, but as we continued through, my feelings completely changed. Seeing so many animals contained within relatively small areas honestly made me sad. Instead of enjoying the experience, I found myself wondering about their stories--how they ended up here, whether they were rescued, born in captivity, or unable to survive in the wild. I understand that places like this provide people with an opportunity to see wildlife up close, and there may be circumstances surrounding these animals that visitors aren't aware of. But from my perspective, it began to feel more like entertainment for humans than an opportunity to appreciate wildlife. By the end, I found myself wishing these beautiful animals could be roaming freely in the wild rather than being viewed from our cars. I went in excited about finally seeing bears, but I left feeling genuinely sad and conflicted about the whole experience.

My father is wheelchair bound at the moment and the wheels kept getting stuck. Not to mention the slope by the iguanas. It's quite steep and took me, my husband, and my mother to push him up. My mom was on the side keeping him from tipping because it's also angled slightly when you first start to go up. It would probably have taken only two people if the floor was smooth but it kept getting caught on the "rock like" grooves. If he was by himself, he wouldn't have been able to get through any of it. Otherwise he had fun.
