Milpitas Branch: Excellent customer service. Friendly and helpful. I arrived 10 minutes early, before they opened and was waiting outside. One of the staff opened the door and greeted me. As I was waiting inside we started the paperwork. Performed a few exams and waited for the Dr. The Dr is punctual, Friendly and performed eye exams that I've never recieved at any other place. Im very happy and satisfied with the eye exams. I chose safety glasses due to my Trade and was ready to purchase. When staff recommended that I contact my employer to check to see if they have a safety glass voucher. To my surprise we do! In good faith, without paying they told me to just come back once I received the voucher. I came back the next day with the voucher. Saved a lot of money and paid in full to Zoom. Its a breath of fresh air to have a company not only have integrity, care about their clients, and help save us money. I recommend Zoom optical in Milpitas. Thank you Zoom! read more

The staff here are genuinely helpful and kind from the moment you walk in and it's pretty clear that they all take their work seriously which is refreshing, the front desk was polite and checked me in quickly even though they were juggling a few other people and once I got back the optometrist was calm and very informative about the whole process explaining what each part of the exam was and why it mattered without sounding rushed or robotic which I really appreciated, they also didn't try to upsell me on anything which I've experienced at other places so I felt comfortable asking questions without feeling pressured and when it came to choosing lenses they gave a lot of insight into different options in a way that felt more like friendly advice than a sales pitch, overall the place is clean and calming and the people there just make it a low-stress experience which is rare for anything medical so I'd definitely say it's a solid place to go if you just want a normal visit where people treat you like a human and not just another patient on the list. read more

The male staff cheated both insurance and customer!!! The frame cost is able to be fully covered by the insurance, but the male staff told us to top up $105 to pay for the insurance covered portion. The staff shred the invoice after we found out and hided in the shop. It's completely a fraudulent shop. Do check your insurance policy and invoice before payment. Received another call from Will, the manager on 8/20 mid afternoon. During the call, Will was about to start another argument with me by yelling at me. I don't understand why yelling is the first course of action for him when his business is on the line and he was in the wrong. He did not acknowledge that I was right about my rights under HIPAA (showed that he was unable to acknowledge his wrongs). Will clearly did not want to listen to what I was saying. I have a threshold of patiences before raising my voice back because I'm not his therapist. What I've learned from these two encounters was that he is unable to take responsibility over his actions. He was unable to regulate his own emotions during the phone call, has horrible customer service, does not listen, and first take of action is yelling. In conclusion, he was unable to act like an adult and have an appropriate adult conversation with me. He was very immature and disrespectful. He told me to call them back because I'm an adult, however I've called many times and did not receive an answer. If you ask me how I'd describe Will in two words, it would be man-child. He did not apologize for not communicating with me when he was on vacation. If Will had sent me an email, or left me a message, or had his coworkers left me a message, I would have been fine with receiving my medical records late. He communicated with my father which made me feel more frustrated with him. Yet, he still had the audacity to disrespect me in over the phone in public. He said he wanted to "clear the air" but his definition of that is yelling. I don't understand how yelling lead to clearing the air. Make it make sense. read more

I made eye exam appt as a new patient. Came in 15 mins early to fill out the necessary paperwork. Dr. Tai was very professional. The exam went well albeit my eyes did get worse and will need a stronger prescription. They did have the frame I was looking for by Oakley but not the correct size, the one they had was a bit too big so I decided to get them elsewhere. They said they could see if they can order it but wasn't pressured and instead I decided to go online. I would highly recommend Zoom, I felt I was not rushed and all the charges were clearly explained from what the insurance will cover and not. read more

Una was very helpful to my wife who I brought in for an eye exam and possibly new pair of glasses. She help Dr. Tai with some testing. My wife said Dr. Tai was extremely kind and explained what the exam would entail. She wasn't sure from the beginning when entered the place. But overall my wife felt afterwards the whole entire experience was very positive. She would recommend trying Zoom. Her glasses will take 2-3 weeks which expected, even LensCrafters take that long now for some reason, not sure why, I remember they use to do it in a few hours, maybe supplier issues. Anyways my wife didn't need anything special in terms of her glasses so she ordered standard glasses just for driving. I will come back for my own eye exam later this year for sure. read more

All I am looking for is quick, efficient service, and everyone I've dealt with at Zoom has made sure that my visits are pain-free. When asking about does the insurance cover a new pair of glasses, she just replied: No! Your insurance only covered an eye exam. I don't think you want to get a pair of glasses here, so I won't check the details your insurance coverage. Unless you want to get the glasses here, then I'll call and check. OMG! Bad just bad they won't give my prescription after the test, when I was paying for the exam I was told doctor would email it, I did not receive email and when I call them they either put me on hold or won't respond properly. They are keen to take new customers but respond badly to existing customers. Doctor was very good though. read more

I usually don't like seeing doctors, but I actually enjoy going here. I had Dr. Jeanny Nguy. I don't know if she's new, but she looks really young. She was very professional and pleasant to work with. Bubbly and nice! Answered all my random questions about the eyes. :) After the examination, I picked my frames. There are so many to choose from, but sooo expensive. (That's why it's 4 stars instead of 5.) The optician went over my frame price and add-ons (more $$$). I get 20% off from the price of the frames that the insurance didn't pay. Yay? It still cost a lot. Overall, I like this place. Customer service was attentive and pleasant, never had a problem with them. The bill in the end can get pretty pricey. I guess you get what you pay for. Horrible, horrible, horrible customer service. I've never received such poor quality and unprofessional behavior. My complaint is for Jessica in the front whom I scheduled an appointment with, I stressed my need to see a specific doctor yet when I drove 45 mins to see this doctor and after a 1 hour wait (ridiculous) I realized I got a different doctor. (Fremont Zoom) Then I brushed it off, and ordered some contacts. She sold me very expensive contact lenses over $800 promising a rebate of $150. When I got a call that my contact lenses were ready, no one warned me of the expiration date of this rebate. So when I picked my lenses up (in Milpitas) the rebate was already expired. Then I call them to clarify and I get horrific customer service from their manager Will. He had poor communication. And he was very rude during the phone conversation with a nasty attitude. I try emailing and they respond with the same unprofessional, unpleasant and rude customer service. Never did he apologize and I was treated with zero respect. PLUS I didn't get my rebate back. DON'T EVER COME HERE it is a waste of time and energy. HORRIFIC and disgusting. read more

I've been coming here since maybe 2012, sometime ago, 4 or 5 yrs ago the whole staff changed, new doctors, new administration, and customer service went to it's worse. I requested my contact prescription and they emailed me one completely different than what I tried on during the exam. They were nice to give me two different prescription lenses to try on to see what I liked, and I decided on -2.50 on both eyes and then they gave me a prescription for different number on each eye, I called to tell them and the admin couldn't understand what I was telling her and she kept laughing, and I asked what was funny she just would say "ok, ok", doctor would call you,, and hung up on me. I waited to the next day to talk to the doctor. She said she would resend a correct prescription. When I received it that same day, it turned out they sent me someone else's prescription. It was Friday and they were now closed I had to wait until Tuesday to call them. When I called again and told her she sent me someone else's prescription, she started laughing, I told her that that was not funny and she kept laughing and and oops, and laughed more. I've been going here for three years and it's been great. The doctors and most of the staff have been nice. I've always ordered contacts with them and it usually arrives in a timely manner. This time I ordered glasses and paid in full and didn't even hesitate because they've always been timely. I was told to wait 10 business days but it's been three weeks going on a month and no glasses. It's disappointing. I think they may have forgotten about me because no one called to follow up and tell me that it was going to take longer. I called in a week ago to get an update and was told by end of week but still no glasses or a follow up call. I called again today to be told that maybe it will be shipped by the end of this week or early next week. This is unacceptable. I would rather have them tell me that they forgot to process my glasses and that it would take two more weeks than to hear empty promises. read more

I live in Vegas but since I've known Dr Huang for many years I continue to use Zoom Vision Care as my primary optometrist clinic: - Once a year I fly here for my eye exam (and to hang out in the Bay Area). - Her staff and of course Dr Huang always perform fast, professional service. - I had Lasik done 2007 but since then Dr Huang was the first doctor to tell me that I should use nightly eyedrops ("lotion for my eyes" as she says, which makes sense to me) to maintain my eye health (Lasik usually contributes to eye dryess). I've only had good experiences with Zoom Vision Care. They send you annual reminders to use your insurance coverage and come in for a checkup. The doctors answer all your questions patiently and thoroughly, unlike the ones at Kaiser Permanente, who treat you like cattle. Last time I came in, I bought a fresh pair of Gucci frames. I didn't like the fit so I took it in the next day and they took care of it in less than ten minutes. I also had a pair of sunglasses brought in and although I didn't purchase them at Zoom Vision Care, and they replaced the nose pieces for free. The excellent service, combined with the caliber of doctors, made me give this place five stars, even if they don't carry anything by Prada. read more

She's great with kids too so definitely a family friendly practice. I've referred many friends over and all have been satisfied. Went in for our annual family eye exam and as always received five star treatment!! We have a new family member (6month old daughter) this year and Cyndee and Jazmin (front desk receptionists) were very helpful with her. I walked in and asked if someone can adjust my frames. They claimed they could not adjust my frames because I was not a Customer nor did they know how to adjust plastic frames... they claimed "it was too hard" when I used to work for an Optometery office and it sure is a piece of cake! The worst visit ever. I did bot receive thorough & complete eye exam. The eyeware I purchased is terrible. The first pair of glasses, the lens started cracking. Unfortunately, I did not enjoy my experience here. I needed new contacts and glasses and this place was nearby so I figured I'd just make an appointment. I don't remember the optometrist's name that I saw but she was very nice and bubbly. There was a lot of miscommunication with my contacts prescription and I was very unhappy about that. In the end, I will say that I do not like the contacts prescription that I was given. I don't think it's right. I quickly ordered more contacts online using my old prescription before it expired which sucks because I shouldn't have to do that. But the worst experience was with my glasses. I had used my old frames and got new lenses put in with Zoom. When I went to go pick them up, they were adjusting them in the back and actually ended up breaking my frames. I was upset about this, however, they are just frames and I do understand that mistakes happen so as long as they fix the mistake by doing the right thing and giving me a new pair of frames for free, then it's all good. This is where I had the worst trouble with them. They did not want to give me new frames!!!! They wanted to just glue them for me! That is completely messed up and it's the worst customer service. I had to keep pushing for new frames because I'm not going to walk around wearing broken glasses frames. They were very hesitant to do anything but after a few days, they called the manager or owner or someone to describe what happened and got the green light for me to pick out a new pair of frames. I was only allowed to choose from the clearance section. How generous. Not that I was going to go for an expensive designer frame but I should've been able to choose something comparable to my original frames. Ok fine, there was a large selection of clearance frames so eventually I picked one and they redid the glasses for me. Once they got them in, I tried them on and they were very crooked. They adjusted them a tiny bit and then said they couldn't do any more because that's the way the plastic frames are. That's the worst answer I ever heard. I took them home and tried using them but they kept sliding off my face, one side was too close to my one eye and my eyelashes kept hitting the lens, and since they were a little crooked, I would get headaches when wearing them. I was very upset about the bad decision I had made to come here and waste my money. I remembered one place that has outstanding customer service - Costco. I took my glasses to Costco and asked if they would adjust my frames even if I didn't buy them from there. Guess what? They had no hesitations at all and adjusted them for me on the spot. Now they fit perfectly - which shows you the poor customer service and/or skill of the people at Zoom Vision. I would not recommend going to Zoom Vision for your eye care needs. Next time, I will stick with Costco even though they don't take insurance. The only good thing about Zoom was that I do like my new glasses prescription. My issue occurred earlier in January so I don't know if the staff is still the same or not. read more

I took my mom to this office for an initial visit. The doctor said that she will need surgery for her glaucoma and wrote her a referral to see a specialist. My mom has Anthem Blue Cross MediCal and that insurance requires authorization. I scheduled my mom with the specialist and we went. We got there and they told me that there is no authorization on file. I called Zoom Vision Care and spoke with the office manager and asked him if he could put in a request with the insurance for authorization so my mom can see the specialist. He told me no that his office doesn't do that. He couldn't even make any suggestions to help me get the authorization. The staff and Dr. Huang were very friendly and nice, but the fact that the office manager couldn't help me or make any suggestions was a total fail. Good thing I work in a medical office and figured it out myself to get the authorization. read more

I would never go here ever again. The older lady that works the front desk is a grumpy hag and doesn't understand english all that well. She charged my insurance for services I wasn't provided without my approval. The "Sales Mgr" is a total idiot. Telling me I wasn't insured for an exam but charged my benefits anyway. Then told me I owed $120 for the exam, when my insurance had already paid for it. And when I told him I checked my benefits he still stood by the fact that I still owed the $120 and then when I told him I was going to report him to my insurer, he called me 5 times to tell me, I was in fact insured! This place has monkeys for employees and wayyyyy overpriced frames. It's a lose/lose situation. Go somewhere else. read more

Every one there is very polite and patient with you as well as very knowledgeable about their products. Dr. Diana has done 2 orders of different contact lenses and one order of glasses for me. This was our first time here so we didn't know what to expect. Our first impression was that the store was clean and was filled with many selections of sunglasses and prescription glasses. The staffs were friendly and knowledgeable of insurance. With minimal information, they were able gather our coverages and carefully explained the benefits. They gave us plenty of time to choose our glasses without bothering or staring us down. Once we knew what we wanted, the paperwork process didn't take long. We did the pre-check then headed to see the optometrist. Since I came with my husband, they let us take our exams together. Our optometrist was very kind. She took time to examine us even though the store was busy. She was concerned with our health and promptly answered all the questions we had. Overall, this was one of the better experiences I've had at any optometry. Most of the care I've received in the past was not personal, so I was quite pleased with the experience I've received here. They also trust their customers because they didn't seem to mind that I walked out with one of their expensive sunglasses to test it out in the sun. read more

Originally wanted to give 0 stars, but figured 1 is good enough. I came into the store a few weeks ago since this was the only store that carried the specific glasses I wanted (I usually go to the Fremont location - where the optometrist is absolutely amazing by the way). I walk into the store see the glasses I like and its evident they've been gathering dust for a while so I ask for the doctor to order a new pair for me since I don't want to pay full price for a pair of glasses that are used. I say it maybe 4 or 5 times throughout the meeting to make sure it is understood and am told that I will get a brand new pair of glasses but that it would take longer. I took a picture of the Serial number of the original glasses for my records. I got a call yesterday saying that my glasses were ready to be picked up and i asked again on the phone "these were ordered brand new, correct?" and the lady says "of course." So I'm very excited and I go to the store, get the glasses get in my car and try them on and I take a look at the serial number: it is the exact same as the original shelf glasses. I give them the benefit of the doubt, "maybe this isn't a serial number" i say to myself. I give the glasses brand company a call and speak to a wonderful woman named Michelle that explains to me that it is, indeed, a serial number and must be unique for each individual pair of glasses that come out of the company. So now I'm a tad upset but no worries I'll go in and talk to the store to get a new pair. The lady tries to tell me that I'm wrong and that serial numbers are the same for all glasses, and then I tell her that I just got off the phone with the company and they said that it must be unique. She then says that it must be a mistake from the factory that they put the same serial number on and I say that the chances of that are near 0. Finally after a lot of convincing she says she can order a new pair and I'd have it in 1-2 weeks. I just don't have that kind of time personally to run back and forth; so I ask if we can work something else out - maybe a discount or something and she says no. Some time later, as I'm writing this review she calls me and says she can give me a discount but that I can only use it in the next week so I ask her to email the offer to me so that I have it in writing as evidence of the discount; this is fine and so I think it's worth a star (have not received the email yet though). Maybe I sound ungrateful but I just don't appreciate it when a store owner (I think she was a doctor too) lies to their customer so insistently. I'd advise folks to go to the Fremont office instead where the people are much more receptive. read more
