I've been going here for five years now. I brought my son here, too. The doctors have been wonderful. The front desk has needed some work, but they were tolerable. I called on 2/3/2026 at 1:50 pm to ask a question about my son's care. Before I could finish my statement, the receptionist heavily sighed and loudly interjected, "what's his birthdate?!" Clearly, it didn't matter that I finish what I was saying, or that it was completely rude to cut off someone (a current client) in the middle of a sentence. Needless to say, after that, I don't need to return to Milpitas Optometric Group. The front desk was okay, and it was already a pain to be greeted by such grumpy people, but after that phone service, we can take our business elsewhere. I'll be taking my son, too. read more

Saw Dr. Michelle Chan on for the first time April 23, 2026. She was so friendly and explained everything she was during my eye exam. I had been going to Dr. Susan Gordon for years but she retired in December 2025 and recommended Dr. Chan. I am so glad I went and saw her for my annual visit and will have her as my on going optometrist. Also, I want to give a shout out to the wonderful young lady who helped me pick out my regular prescription glasses and sunglasses. Wow! This place is very professional. We arrived early for our Saturday appointment and they opened few minutes early. The front desk staff was very friendly and checkin was very smooth. Prior to our appointment, we received text messages and call on confirming our appointment. All the clinic staff were friendly and experienced. They will guide you and take time to explain what will happen. Our doctor , Dr. Pham , will take the time to go over the results in fine detail and take you on class on the eye. :) Prices for the lense and frame were reasonable. This was my first time shopping for reading glasses after recently receiving a prescription. On Tuesday, 12/12 at 2:26pm, I called Milpitas Optometric Group to ask whether I needed an appointment to browse their selection. The staff member who answered the phone responded in a manner that I found abrupt and unfriendly, even after I asked how she was doing. Based on this experience, I do not plan to visit this business or recommend it to others. I believe there is room for improvement in their customer service and phone etiquette. read more

Me and my kids have been going to Milpitas Optometric Group for a couple of years now. It is a one stop shop for vision care in our neighborhood. Every year I make an appointment to see my eye doctor to check my vision and prescription and then I am able to also take care of my contacts and eye glasses too, no appointment needed. They offer a wide selection of glasses, even brand name frames. They even have kids glasses which is perfect because my little one needs them too. They let you try on the frames to help you choose which one fits best. I like it here because they have always had kind and friendly service. The doctors and staff are always so helpful and I feel the quality of care here is on point! Keeps us coming back. read more

The Optician (Maria?) is incompetent. When reviewing my insurance-covered frame allowance and comparing to the frame I chose, she stated that the frames and lenses are completely covered and I owe $0. After the sunglasses were ordered, I get a call 2 days later from her saying that my insurance only covers $150 and that I owe $32. I respectfully stated to her that she made the mistake of providing me false information, and leading me to believe that I owed $0 at the time of order, and because of her mistake, she (the office) should be the ones to pay the $32 delta. She completely disregarded what I explained to her and pressed me on how I would like to pay for the $32. Since her competency was inadequate to serve my needs, I demanded to speak to her superior. Richard answers the phone, and I review the situation with him. He states that they are all human and make mistakes. I completely agree with Richard. However, there needs to be accountability. It is absurd to make mistakes and have the other party accept liability. I am disgusted by the way I was treated by the front-end of Milpitas Optometric Group. Making mistakes, not owning up to them, and having the innocent party make things right is completely immoral. read more

My wife and I had a great experience with Milpitas Optometric Group. Check-in was speedy and our appointments started right on time. Speaking for myself, I was taken step by step through the pre-exam process, and waited just a minute or two before my optometrist, Dr. Michelle Chan, helped me out. Dr. Chan was warm and thorough with the usual eye exam, and then listened to my previous eye exam history (since I had recently moved). She even asked if I'd like additional photographs to help assuage a concern I had, walked through the results and answered questions patiently. After the exam, things kept going swimmingly. When selecting new glasses frames, Jessica helped me figure out if my selection would match my face shape, gave me advice about the color and shape of the frame, and walked through my insurance with me so I would know exactly what I would and wouldn't be covered for. She was ultra-friendly and wrote down each of the things she talked about clearly on the form (with some seriously impressive upside-down penmanship so I could read it) so I could follow along. In the end I walked out with a pair of glasses preordered knowing it would match me well. Definitely recommend Milpitas Optometric Group. Thanks Dr. Chan and Jessica! read more

Horrible front desk experience during this year's visit for annual eye exam. If the owners of this practice are looking at this review, I would highly recommend their front desk staff needs a change. I see another review below more recently regarding the same. First while making the appointment they were looking at another patient's chart having the same first name. Then while driving to the appointment, there was an accident and waze added 10 mins to the estimated time. I immediately called the front desk and they advised me of 15 mins grace. The next time I called the front desk was very close to 15 mins to say that I was at the light making a U to get into where their office is and by the time I parked and got into the office it was 1 min over the 15 mins grace period and they said the Dr. Pham will not be able to see me. The front desk could have suggested to reschedule if they/Dr. was going to be so picky for being 1 min over 15 mins. I called them a couple times and have never been late before and I cannot predict traffic/accidents. Needless to say I am done with this practice. Please be warned. read more

Quite frankly the best experience I've ever had at the optometrist. From reception with Jacky, to check-up with Dr. Chan, even through checkout with Tiffany I was received cordially and provided comprehensive care. With my strong prescription they not only were not able to cut it but sent it in to do it again and they still couldn't cut it correctly the second time and only offered to give me half the money back so they don't have to call the insurance and deal with ( vsp) I would have to go somewhere else and pay for full pair again instead of going thru insurance , I had to call vsp to call the office to get me a refund on unusable glasses Never again will I come here They should start offing negative stars read more

I've been coming here for almost a decade now with the entire family because of a referral a long time ago. Despite a great optometrist there that we've been seeing, the services from the ladies answering the calls are just out of this world horrible. They hang up on you. So beware. I've been going to Milpitas Optometric Group for a few years now. I made the mistake of going to another group about 2 years ago. I was lured in because the office looked fancy and yes yes the glitz and glamour drew me in. It was an awful experience. I was left in the lobby without eye glasses or contacts on just waiting around because they forgot about me ( I'm very blind without my contacts so this is a safety issue in my case.) My contacts took forever to come in, which has never been an issue before. They recommended this expensive treatment that my healthcare provider deemed unnecessary. Anyhow after that experience I returned back to Milpitas Optometric Group. I see Dr. Collin Lee who is amazing! He is very thorough in his exams. The entire staff is always so accommodating with my schedule and so friendly. My eyeglasses and/or contacts are always delivered super fast! They are always so helpful in helping me maximize my eye care coverage options! read more

Came here initially for my daughter's specs but now its my turn. The place has people helping you with all you optometric questions and they are willing to give you a rundown of costing for the frames you picked. They have a good selection of glasses which is rather costly if u dont have eye insurance. They do give discounts and wont pressure you from making final decisions. read more

Quick but happy review update: Tina, the manager of the optical department was able to reach out to *local* contacts and was able to reduce the delivery time from 4 weeks out to just a couple of days! I've been coming here for 20 years. Doctor Gordon has been my doctor and she is excellent. They always take good care of me when I visit.

On my very FIRST VISIT, i arrive 15min early for my appointment at 3:30 with all the paperwork already completed. I sat there and watch them assist 2-3 people that came there after 3:30 while completely skipping me. So, i left at around 4pm kinda pissed. then, i get a BILL for $25 for missed appointment. I personally cannot review their optomistists since i NEVER SAW ONE. However, based on this type of business practice and the way they service 1st time visitors. Essentially, i went there to provide them with my information for them to bill me for nothing.... I would recommed everyone to AVOID AT ALL COST!!!!! read more

I read the great reviews and went to this place. I picked 750$ glasses but when I went to pick them up, 1) They did not tell me to try the glasses. I came home and could not see clearly. When I called, they said "Oops instead of computer glasses, we made far sight glasses". They reordered (3 weeks delay because it goes to some lab) 2) After 3 weeks, the glasses came back but Milpitas Optometrists say "The lab cut the wrong shape so we are sending back" 3) 3rd pair comes back and the manager calls me and tells me "Oh we found a scratch in your glasses so we have to send them back" At this point, I asked to talk to the doctor, who told me that she will personally see that this does not happen. 4) 4th pair comes and today they told me that the lab got the incorrect shape so we need to send them back I am dealing with them for last 3 months and suffering without the correct glasses. I have the best possible insurance and bought the most expensive glasses they have but ..... I would say stay way. When I asked to see sunglasses, they said "If you buy xyz brands, your insurance covers everything". I spent 30 mins picking the right frame but in the end they said "oh you have to pay 220$ co-pay. We made a mistake in calculation". Thank god i did not order the sunglasses. I walked out. I am a bit surprised with the positive reviews. read more

I'm really upset that my doctor ordered the wrong contact lens for me. I initially had my very first contact fitting and when it ended I was assigned a technician who is fairly new. He was not thoroughly trained and cannot effectively answer my questions. I know I have to go back again and pick up the correct contact lens on it arrives. This was a wasted trip of my gas and energy. I am a little bit annoyed at the incompetence that I experienced. read more

Since I've been a full time stay at home mom our insurance for medical, vision and dental was switched over to my husband's. Finding new doctors is never fun but it was a piece of cake when it came to finding a new optometrist. After reviewing my options on the MES website I decided on Milpitas Optometric Group and made an appointments for the kids & I. My oldest Shaun was first since he had the worst eye sight out of the 5 of us. The front desk was very friendly upon checking in and completing paperwork for new patients. Shaun had his appointment with Dr. Lee and had a great experience. Dr. Lee is really informative, friendly and patient answering our questions (mainly Shaun! :P). We decided on getting contacts since Shaun will be playing soccer this fall. The twins and I saw Dr. Kavanagh on a different day. Dr. Kavanagh was just as informative, friendly and patient with us. The entire staff from Milpitas Optometric Group is friendly and informative. The office also has frames to choose from and if you'd prefer to walk in instead of making an appointment I'm told Friday is the day. I'll be back to check out their frames and updating my daughter's lenses. read more

Upon reading the reviews and seeing the business' feedback, it seems that this place is working hard to focus on customer service and satisfaction. I came here as a new patient this year and everything went very well, so I'm quite happy. Believe me, I was yet to find a pleasant optometrist experience before finding this place (if you have seen my LenSHAFTERS reviews). Anyway, when I called this place to set up an appointment as a new patient, they made sure to verify my insurance information to ensure there would be no surprises if I wasn't covered. This was very nice of them because I know of some other places *cough* that don't care and just hand you a hefty bill without warning if any coverage is missing. I guess they've learned from negative feedback of other customers to make sure that all patients understand their own insurance coverage before they go in... this is a very next extra service that they do because it's really the patients' responsibility to know their own insurance coverage... pretty frustrating for people working in the healthcare field. Keep in mind, they accept three insurance plans so make sure to check before you go. Everyone was helpful and friendly - the front desk receptionist, the opticians, and my optometrist made my two visits quite pleasant and efficient. They have a nice selection of glasses and sunglasses to choose from, and they are open on Saturdays which makes it convenient for work schedules. Saturdays are very busy so make sure you have an appointment, even for frame readjusting/repair. I've recommended this place to my other family members who are under the same insurance. If you come here without insurance though, expect to pay an arm and a leg for the out of pocket costs. read more

Used them several years ago, then ended up with a different vision insurance and used a few different places but with my VSP even though I live in Santa Cruz I went back to Milpitas. Glad I did. Their vision testing equipment is top of the line and newest technology. Dr. Collin Lee is outstanding and goes over general health and vision health issues with you.
