Have you ever felt the anticipation of getting something you so desperately wanted only to have it ripped away by someone who is so in human and cruel. That is exactly how I felt today after making the mistake of setting foot in Zorba's. As I entered I could faintly detect the aroma of a wastewater treatment plant, a fryer that badly needed its oil changed and rodent droppings. Something stuck to the sole of my shoe as I entered. When I got back in my vehicle I had to remove the shoe so as not to get it whatever it was in the carpet. I am unable to identify the substance. The woman behind the counter, behind a large plexiglass screen was talking loudly on the phone to someone about extremely personal issues that I would rather not say in a public forum. I pulled back my face mask to adjust it and she immediately pounced on me like an angry stray cat who had not had any human contact for quite some time and had unfortunately gone feral. She started screaming at me that I had to keep my mask up. I did not lower my mask or remove it. I simply adjusted it so I could speak. I do not believe she could hear me very well as I was approximately 10 feet away from the counter, she was behind plexiglass and I was wearing my respirator. Whatever the issue was that she was discussing on the phone must have been much more important to her than dealing with a very hungry individual who just wanted a gyro. I said, "ok then" and turned to leave. She continued to scream obscenities at me in a foreign language I could not decipher. It sounded like something I had heard in that film "The boy in the striped pajamas." Needless to say I will not asking them to be catering my 400 person wedding that will be having in May. I can not comment on the food, although I imagine if it will leave a bad taste in your mouth, much like the woman's attitude did who was behind the counter. Zorbas advertises and sells on Local Flavor website 10$ for 20$ of food. Whan I picked up my order they refused the Local Flavor deal stating it is cashy only. No where is it stipulated in the local flavor cash only. The next is was the horrible mean "manager" and then the quality of the food was even worse. Let's start with the my dislikes.... I don't like their fountain drink system, because you're charged for refills (and the starter cup is on the smaller size, add ice and you have even less beverage) They now sell baklava, but don't get excited, it's not made in house and tastes as such. I had the garlic butter fries, they would be super delicious if they tossed the fries with seasoning instead of just dumping it directly on top. I was working near by Zorbas so we stopped in to try them out for lunch and I am so thankful that we did. I tried the gyro melt because I have not had one in 30 years since high-school and let me tell you WOW! Been going to Nicky's for about 10+ years and finally decided to try Zorba's out because it was on the way home and was feeling a Gyro. I have to say, this hands down beats Nicky's. The lamb is perfect, has the crispy edge to it, the pita was not too soft and not too hard (we all know the pita can make or break a Gyro), and the tzatziki sauce was flavorful. For a little more than $8 for a value meal which includes fries and a drink, it is well worth it and highly recommended! If you're in the area of a Zorba's, stop by, you won't regret it! Worst "Greek restaurant" I've ever been to. The what I think were owners, were rude and obnoxious. It felt like the antithesis of what you expect from let's say a place like Trader Joe's, i.e. welcoming and kind. Their food was subpar. I didn't even finish the food. And I'm not the type of guy to do that. Gyros and fries should be a staple of a Greek place like this. Both were very subpar and just kinda blah to me. A very basic Greek fast food type restaurant, nothing special, there's tons of them around, and the food while not horrible was just basic. The Greek owner, was the most ignorant and rude person I've ever met. This guy should not be working customer service. The only good thing about this place is the location. Right next to a bar that's a staple in that area, and as we all know it's location location location. I do not recommend this place at all. Go to any other gyro place in the area. I would have gone back to this place if I absolutely had a taste for a gyro and was in the area since it's one of the only ones in the Orland area, but considering the service I got, not worth it. Didn't even know this place existed. Small little place in a strip center. I heard the gyros were good but I got a Greek salad instead. Very satisfied with it. I also tried the Greek fries which was a variation I never tried. They had the typical feta, olive oil, but they added kalamata olives thinly sliced. Next time I will try the gyros. I pass by the strip mall where Zorba's is located (143rd and 82nd in Orland Park) on my way home from work everynight. So I would be remiss if I didn't stop in now and then for a quick dinner for my kids and I. My favorite part of going there is the young girls that work there. I believe that the are the owners kids and they are delightful. My next favorite is their ice cream - very good. And all of there food products that I have tried have been yummy too! My youngest's favorite is the hot dog kids meal cause it comes with ice cream and the very good fries. Stop by and enjoy a Gyro and some fries! read more

Typical greasy spoon, but I mean that in a good way. There are about 5-6 little tables in here, but it's mostly a carry-out type of place. The prices are totally fair, and the owner and her daughters are always working -- they're really nice. The food is darn good. I've only had the Greek food -- the chicken salad is basic but great, the gyro about as good as you can get without going to Greektown, and the souvlaki is tender and well-marinated. Their tzatziki sauce is great as well. They have a variety of other foods, from burgers to hot dogs to pizza puffs, but I haven't tried them. It really makes me sad to see an independent close and to see a new "frankenfood" national mega chain open (you know who I am taking about) This place is a very hidden gem in Orland. Let's see... where do I begin; The young lady that took my order was very helpful with suggestions and pleasant to deal with, that being said upon my arrival at home with the food I quickly discovered that the order was missing a "chicken pita" sandwich - since I live a good distance away from "Zorba's Gyros" - going back was not an option. The gyros plater that I ordered was fair, at best, and certainly not worth reordering as I have had much better tasting gyros elsewhere. The French fries were not fresh cut and lacking in any meaningful flavor. Obviously I would not recommend "Zorba's Gyros" to a friend or an enemy. read more
