Ordered a chicken tenders basket and it's $12 which would be fine if the chicken was real. Charging that for compressed ground chicken is insane. Selling low quality food options is a choice as much as people choose to eat places. I have come here a few times now and think their food is delicious. My go-to is the chicken bowl, which has enormous portion and the chicken comes on a bed of lettuce, rice, and Greek potatoes. Great to have a good gyro place in the area. It was lacking. All ingredients are fresh and flavorful. Chicken and fries were the best thing. Greek potatoes were excellent as well. Abysmal. Ordered a gyro bowl, easily the smallest portion of food I have ever paid 12.99 for. Around 90% of the bowl is rice, and the minuscule amount of gyro meat was chopped fine and smashed into the bowl under the lettuce, causing it to wilt. I asked for a cup of water, only to be told by the girl working the register "we charge for cups of water." So there is that. I arrive home to food with no plastic cutlery, no napkins, and a bunch of smashed food. From seeing the responses from the "Business Owner" under other reviews, it is clear she has ZERO interest in taking care of errors made on the company's part. Making excuses for the cost of goods seems to be commonplace these days, however an owner telling people to "try it again" when they have a poor experience is bold and unfortunate to say the least. Had dinner here for the first time. Had the gyro plate, saganaki sticks, gyro egg rolls and a side of gyro meat. Service was quick and restaurant looked very clean. We sat out back at the picnic tables to eat. Gyro meat was good! Pita was thin but still tasted good! 2 star reduction because the taziki sauce was really spicy and the French fries were not hot. I'm not sure if they loaded the sauce with garlic or what but I couldn't eat it. I don't like spicy food anyway but have never had taziki be that spicy. read more

After passing this place daily on my way to work every day I finally decided to stop in and give a try. The restaurant is spotless and the employees are very friendly. Ordered a gyro sandwich with a side order of fries. I will say that the fries were spot on, piping hot and crispy. As I like to use the tzatziki sauce more for dipping than on the gyro, I get it on the side. And the sauce came in a nice size container. But the gyro was a little bit of a let down, even though it was tasty and well put together, it was barely warm. The only thing that gnawed at me was that there is a up charge for using credit cards here. When paying for my meal this was not disclosed by the cashier. With the up charge and cost of the meal it was over fourteen dollars for the meal, a bit pricey for a gyro, fries, and drink. read more

The old lady who worked there started screaming at me and chased me outside saying that only customers who are dining in could use the bathroom. WOW. Poor customer service. There were a group of police officers inside and they had to calm her down. I wouldn't recommend unless you want to be harassed. read more

Food was good, not crazy good. I may return but not feeling the need to go back soon. We had a variety of food and I specifically had one of the bowls. Lots of iceberg lettuce, needed more than the 2 ounces or so of meat. It was just underwhelming and I hate paying a lot of money for iceberg. Others in the house liked theirs, but not raving. The hummus was not even finished, it was grainy. We have completely finished hummus from other places that are 5 times the quantity for the same price and way, way better. This spot was recommended to me. While the inside was very clean and modern, I can't give a fair review on the food. We each (2 of us) ordered a Gyro Pita (came with fries as a side) and while the fries seemed to have good flavor, they were exactly as I expected, cold / lukewarm at best and honestly could be cooked a bit longer. Since we had to wait nearly 40 minutes to receive our food while others around us who came in to order well after us, were just about done enjoying their lunch vittles we were a tad aggravated.. and still hungry. Unfortunately the person I met there was on a lunch break and no longer had time to eat so he had to take it to go (which was how it was given to us anyway even though we were not asked) and honestly... he probably won't even touch it. While the employees seem nice they are very unorganized. The dine in area of the restaurant didn't appear to be busy (not sure about online or to go orders) but with us sitting there for a long time and basically starring at the employees, you think they could've noticed us. Not a great first impression. I would love to see this place succeed, but they might need to fine tune a few things. Side note... not a big fan of seeing the lady (that I only assume is an owner) walking around in shorts and sandals around food prep. read more

Newly opened in the area and I really hope they do well. The location is a prime spot with a park across the street. The gyro egg rolls are what we liked best but need to be eaten immediately. The gyro meat itself was average. You can tell the freshness of the tzatziki sauce. It did not seem like it sat for several days. The Greek fries were solid. A personal preference is thick cut fries. They use very thin cut which again personally I dislike. The chicken skewers/ka bobs were tasty. Overall not bad. I've been a little despondent since Souzy's on 95th Street closed a couple years ago; I was despairing of finding a pita or kabob as good as theirs. Happy retirement, Souzy's! My sister and I decided to give Gyro Grill a try today. The staff is friendly, the menu listings are clear and plentiful; lots to choose from. My sister got the Tuesday special gyro platter, and I got the chicken pita. We then repaired to the outdoor seating area. I loved the signs in Greek inside. And the one giving the distance to Athens. A little fun never hurt anyone. Lunch came in just a few minutes, and, boy, did it look good. The fries were thin and crispy, some skin still on them, which is the best kind. My chicken pita was well-seasoned, and my sister was happy with her gyro. Sooooo good. Here's the thing - go there HUNGRY, or make sure you get your order packaged to go. The portions are so big that normally, I wouldn't finish the whole thing. Alas, I ordered mine for eating "here", so I didn't have enough wrapping to save it, and I'm not one to ask for more packaging. I can't believe I ate that whole thing - it's at least enough for two meals. I'm looking forward to working my way through their menu. read more

They took authentic Greek cuisine and used the trend of bowl, plate, sandwich to serve it. I mean, what else do you want? So here is what we got. Chicken bowl, spinach pie - you could taste grape leaves, hummus and Mike's Greek gyroRolls. All of it was great, for sure get the GyroRolls. Gyro meat in an egg roll, yes please. One warning, the hummus is traditional. So it isn't the creamy, olive oil filled kind you get at the store. It is thick and tastes more oh chickpeas. Gyro Grill waited well beyond an hour to call and let me know my food would never arrive . With zero sense of how insanely odd and inconvenient that is . Then beyond two hours I get a notification that it was picked up, after I had already placed an order elsewhere . This is also after 9pm when most restaurants in the area are closing up shop . So now I have to haggle with uber for a refund . Oh and the driver still never showed . You can't make this stuff up . read more

My fiancé and I was in the area and starving. At first we was down the street at a BBQ place where they ran out of rib tips, so we decided to come here. It was our first time here and of course I had to read the Yelp reviews before coming. We were greeted immediately by at least 3 staff members which was a pleasant surprise. I ordered the gyro plate with a side of Greek potatoes. He also ordered the gyro plate but with the rice pilaf. We waited 15 minutes for the food. Everything was delicious. It was a nice sized gyro with a generous amount of meat and toppings. What wasn't generous was the sides. I only received 4 potato wedges. I was definitely expecting more. I have to say, I rarely write reviews but after picking up our order tonight, some things need to be addressed. The food quality and quantity has reduced drastically while their prices have also increased dramatically (upwards of about a 60% increase) since they opened in a matter of less than 5 years. We ordered a pork platter with fries and rice (they forgot the rice), filet mignon bowl, and saganaki sticks. There were 2 pork skewers in the platter with tiny protein pieces. The bowls used to come in those round, black meal prep containers. Nowadays, it comes in a sad, little container, which many restaurants use to package side orders. Each entree was around $19-20, a far cry from when they were $8.99-10.99. You are basically getting a side order sized entree for $20, lol. The saganaki sticks are also way smaller. While I can appreciate that many restaurants had to undergo an economic shift, this is probably one of the more drastic shifts I've seen within the Chicagoland area. Keep in mind, this is casual/hole-in-the-wall dining in South Chicago, not the Gold Coast - lol, so it just doesn't add up. Ultimately, I chose to give them another try, so it's on me, I get it. Lesson learned though - we will likely not return nor recommend. Also, I have to add that they do charge a cc few, which is not disclosed to you. The gentleman asked if I would be paying with cash or card, but that's it. Transparency is key - if I had been informed that there was a fee, I would have paid cash. Employees are friendly though, so that's nice. read more
