We were visiting some friends who have a cabin on the lake and we cruised over to Zorbaz. Lots of slots for boat patrons. Very cabin-y feel inside with large windows overlooking the lake, a nice patio for good weather, and lots of hightop tables and TVs. Staff was great. Dart board was good entertainment. Beer was cold. They also have self serve gas for boats. We didn't eat there but pizza seemed to be the dinner of choice for other patrons. They have a nice little store attached for logo wear. read more

A nice wayside restaurant to stop midway home from going up north for the weekend. A great selections of good available for a decent price. My enchiladas dinner platter was good. My husband's burrito was huge. Bar staff was friendly. Great open spaces for dining inside. Chips and salsa was good and wet ran out of salsa before running out of chips. read more

This place is all about ambiance. It's right on the lake with docks you can tie up your boat, also a beach volleyball court and a big deck. There are plenty of tables inside with a big bar, lots of tvs, games for the kids and fast service. Sure, the food quality could be better, but it's dependable and has a great vibe. read more

Super slow service in the bar area. You have to go to the bar to order, not a big deal, but only one bartender doing all that. The food is average nothing special by any means. The atmosphere is loud , but it is a bar scene. The tables are close together so plan on bouncing your back of someone else's or if you get up to use the restroom, or to order anything you need to be conscientious of other patrons sitting around you. As for the "service" or the "help" here at this place...we'll.... It is 100% TERRIBLE/ GOD AWEFUL!!!!! If your looking for even the smallest amount of kindness, smiles , efficiency or class don't bother even walking into this place! The server literally through our food onto the table in passing never making eye contact, didn't say a word, and went scurrying back to the kitchen. I stopped the food from skidding right off the table, along with the STICKY table top. Not to mention I didn't want to put my feet on the floor due to the uncleaned up pool of liquid and trash that was under the table. Next I went to the front register/bar area to reorder drinks, and with no one else around the counter or waiting to be helped , the bartender who is facing me (who took care of our initial order and was tipped at 30%, mind you) was having a personal conversation with someone behind her (another bartender, ignores me for a couple minutes literally doing nothing except talking , until another customer walked in to pick up food. The bartender proceeded to walk around the bar right past me ,twice, to help the other customer who is standing no more than 2 feet from me! I proceeded to wait for one of the other bartenders (the one she was talking too) to help me with my order! Please understand that this was in no way a busy night there it was 6 pm. Also understand this was not our first time at this place, as we tried to give them a second chance after the first time was just as bad if not worse! I honestly don't know how they stay open or retain customers as their service is beyond ATROCIOUS, and the female bartender that wears glasses, needs to be checked or at least put in the kitchen where no customer has to be treated with such classless patronage! She has a terrible attitude, picks and chooses who she wants to help regardless of who is around or is waiting (we watched this go on to others as well) , and frankly has no business in the customer service industry. This is an older building, and I was there a few years ago under a different name and management. Talk about a 90% improvement. Located right on Big Sandy Lake with a dock to pull your boat up to, absolutely perfect . Right up MN State Hwy 65, a good road trip on a nice day. You may ask "what is special about this place" , and the answer would be several things. First, the letter s does not exist in Zorbaland. It is replaced by z. Once you get uzed to it, it iz eazier to read zignz and menuz. I think we could call the décor " campy" and "cheezy" . It iz hard to make an older building with tons of ztuff on the walls look real clean. It doez, however, zeem clean. The menu iz a typical bar menu. I had the mizfortune to arrive right after a dozen bikez pulled in. All with riderz. It iz a type of zervice where you order from the bartender , get a number, and zit down. When your food iz ready, a zerver bringz it out to your table. If you want more beer or coctailz, you must go to the bar yourzelf. Zo I waz behind a line of couplez ordering. Took a while. Zo did my food. They lozt my ticket in the ruzh. That happenz zometimes. However, the manager doesn't come out of the kitchen to apologize and comp the whole meal usually. He did. That waz very kind. Zorbas is kind of the "Señor Frogs of the North". Kind of obnoxious, like you expect to see Guy Fieri hanging out some where with his douche nozzle sunglasses perched on the back of his head. BUT. It's not that terrible. Or, hasn't been at any of the times I've been there (off season, off peak hours). Even on season, hopefully it remains chill. Anyway, the food is pretty decent. This past visit I had a Mexican pizza. It was pretty good and I have high standard when it comes to taco pizza. Kind of expensive, but as my dad likes to say "you're kind of renting the space..." (Which there was plenty of here, btw). My dad had the 420 Burrito which he raved about (he never raves, only rants) and my brother had a sort of 'double decker' taco which was huge, but maybe over priced. Two things they have that I LOVE: popcorn and self serve soda (with a Sprite Zero! - always appreciate a diet caffeine free option!!) The popcorn was the good stuff too. Yum. The location is great and the atmosphere can be fun, however... It's usually understaffed. Tonight (a Saturday in August) there were two bartenders. There's no table service, so everyone has to order drinks, food, soda from those two bartenders. We waited in line 15 minutes to order food. Pizza took 35 minutes to arrive. It was good. But our remaining order never arrived. The runner said the kitchen never received the order (it was on the receipt). So wait another 20 minutes for that. We probably won't be back. read more

The nachos are a good choice and the pizza is fare, but don't order it to be picked up because you will ALWAYS wait at least 30 minutes PAST your pickup time. This is our 4th time ordering to pickup and sent the kids to get it. Ordered at 6pm with a 6:30 pickup time. Kids got there and were told it will be another 15 minutes. 15 min later they were told they were out of dough and had to make some, now it will be another 10 minutes. And this is not an isolated incident. Very frustrating but the options in the area are very limited. read more

Mexican style cuisine and pizza located on 65 on Big Sandy Lake in McGregor. No other food choices available. It was quite odd to have to go to the bar to order your meal for the family and pay prior to receiving your meal for a sit down style restaurant. My wife went into the restroom where there was no door on the ladies restroom right off of the dining room where patrons could hear inside the restroom. The stall doors wouldn't lock and dining patrons can also see into the lady's room where I observed my wife waving to us from inside the restroom where she was washing her hands. The food was tasty and portion sizes were quite large. Meals seemed to be a bit on the expensive side. My wife would definitely avoid the restroom again! read more

I've been a summer customer since they opened. This has been our "go to" place on the busy days when we open the cabin for the year or close the cabin for the year. Zorbaz used to be our favorite. Always friendly, always were greeted as we walked in, always good food, always a good place to gather. Tonight we went for the first time in two years. Wow has it gone down hill. They had one IPA on tap but told us the CO2 was broken so it would take too long to pour. The music was so loud we waited outside even tho it was very warm out. It was warm inside too, almost as if the AC was broken. The food came, and was ok but they forgot a pizza in our group so everyone was done eating when his pizza came. What a disaster. I did not enjoy it there one bit. I understand Kurtiz left. He was great. Always greeted us and always came to the table to check on the service. He was often seen in the kitchen. He was a hard worker. I didn't see any evidence of a manager when we were there tonight. What a huge disappointment. I want Kurtiz back. It will be a cold day before I visit Zorbaz Big Zandy again. So sad that it went down the hill. read more

Love Zorbas. Everything is good. The nacho supreme is huge and enough for 6 people. Taco Tuesday is my favorite. I have them add tomatoes and onions. Our grandkids love it here. Lots of stuff to explore inside and out. The kids always play volley ball in the sand court, lakeside. Food comes quickly. read more

Stopped by Zorbaz by Mcgregor for the first time ever in late July 2014. Was there with a group of 17 of us. The food came fast and it was fantastic! But, the water was not so good. It tasted of blood and rust. We could all taste it in the water and in the fountain drinks. It may be out of Zorbaz control but it was bad. Would go back but would sneak in my own soft drinks or just stick to cerveza. If the water is ever fixed, 4-5 stars for sure. Wait staff also didn't know the names of the food they were delivering to the tables and had no obvious people skills. read more
