I've been going to ZS Fitness ever since I moved to Long Valley a couple of years ago. It's a modern and sleek gym, always clean, never crowded, and the perfect balance of community and private gym space (meaning, you'll see enough regulars here to become familiar, but also not so many that you have to wait for equipment). Pricing is reasonable, a bit more pricey than some of the factory gyms (Retro, Crunch, Planet Fitness), but you kind of get what you pay for here because it's more personable and less crowded. Overall I'm very happy with my membership, and the new owners have been kind and accommodating. Bonus: the backyard space offers gorgeous, breathtaking views of the mountain, and I found this area crucial during the covid months when I didn't want to be indoors. read more

Getting a membership here is a joke. They don't offer visitor/guest passes, a monthly membership auto renews, you have to give a 30 written notice to cancel your policy to a third party, the owner doesn't return calls, emails are very standard and not helpful. I don't get it, if you want to operate in a small town and be successful you need to treat your customers like they matter for more than just an extra $75 dollars in crap fine print fees. Overall a pleasant environment to work out in. Most evenings the gym is not very crowded (perhaps averaging around 6 people). The workout machines are a little old (5 years now?) but are holding up fairly well -- only 2 or 3 machines are not working. A few suggestions... There is a great view of the fields in back -- it would be nice to have some of the cardio equipment facing the windows to the fields. Ideally all the back walls would be picture windows or glass doors that could pivot open on nice days. Most of the electronic lockers are not working. I realize Long Valley is not a high crime area, but it still would be nice to have the option to lock up valuables. The temperature of the gym can get a little warm sometimes. I wouldn't mind that so much if the airflow was better. Please keep the ceiling fans on high and perhaps add a couple more. While the majority of the gym is clean, there are some details that are overlooked (e.g. the plants and other fixtures that are up high). A can of compressed air and some touch-up paint could make a huge difference. It would be nice to be able to tap into the sound on the TVs from our phones. Something like AppAudio (http://www.supremeaudio.com/appaudio-4-to-32-channel-audio-broadcast-system-by-mye/). The Tunity app works fairly well but it is a pain to get going sometimes. Almost everyone wears headphones these days, so please keep the room music low. I love the idea of being able to workout off hours via unattended access. read more

Well, if you are looking to start out or get back into fitness and are looking for a gym, don't go here. I was really excited about taking classes and started with a boot camp today. The biggest issue was how unfriendly and unwelcoming everyone was. I checked in, paid my money and asked a lot of questions about where to go and what to do with my things because I had never been there before. No information was offered if I didn't ask. They pointed across the parking lot to the area with the classes. There was a class going on there that i walked around. No one said hello or asked if they could help. I found the area in the back to put your coat and change into my workout shoes. When the class started, I had to introduce myself to the instructor. No one in the class said hello. The instructor made no attempt to introduce me to anyone and probably forgot my name as soon as I said it. It was a circuit type of workout and he asked everyone to pair up. Of course, I was left without a partner. Very friendly. The warm up was very short. He went through the excessive at a normal speed. There was not really any instruction in correct form although the instructor did correct me a couple of times which was welcome. Basically, I was on my own. There were very little choices of weights, they were all very heavy so you had to modify by not using weight mostly. No, I could not climb a rope, do band assisted pull-ups or hanging knee raises. I am not strong enough yet. This was my first day. Still, I was not intimidated by the exercises, of course I have been working out with personal trainers for 10 or more years. (Mine is away so I was excited to try something/somewhere new.) I had fun with the circuit and burned a lot of calories, but I also pulled a muscle in my leg. Doing a propulsion move without a lot of warm up can do that. I may have had more if I didn't know from personal training the correct form for most exercises (some were new). Although, there are no mirrors so I could not check. Again, no one really said a word to me. I have had people be nicer to me at the big box gyms. There was absolutely no cool down or stretch. I bought a 5 pack of classes but don't know if I can go through such an unwelcoming situation again. It was like being the new kid in class and no one even noticing or caring. I called the club in April and asked how to cancel my account because my husband and I live a bit to far to go. A young lady instructed me to email the owner to give a 30 day notice. I did and they still have been charging me monthly to an account I do not use. I followed up with to the owners email in May and August confirming the cancellation. He never answered. Today 11/15 he finally answered me and says I am still contracted for the rest of the year even though his employee informed me incorrectly. THIS PLACE IS A RIP OFF. I am so disappointed in people more and more everyday. read more
