I recently had a wonderful experience with a garage door repair company and I had to share my experience with Zach and Michelle at ZS Overhead Doors. This morning when leaving the house, we tried to close our garage door and it would start to close but then went back up. The better half noticed the cables on both sides where dangling. First thing I did was jump on to YouTube as I'm YouTube certified in fixing many things. I watched a couple of videos and thought to myself, heck I can do this, or at least I thought I could put the cable back in place. I got one side but the other side was a little painful and I decided to call around. I called some big names but they couldn't come out today (Sunday), and I came upon this company with raving reviews and Yelp said they were open. I called but no answer, but shortly after I get a text message. After describing the problem, they said they are wrapping up an install and can come out and see the problem. Ten stars ....is what I would give Zach if I could. In this day and age, you wouldn't expect service from a bygone era. I screwed up my door and my car was trapped in the garage. I called him and he came after 8 pm on a weeknight to get the rollers working so I could get out. He didn't have time to install a new opener the next day, but came the day after and got a new motor and track installed in under an hour. It's a really great system and very reasonably priced. The after hours call was also very reasonable considering the emergency visit. Very positive experience post my last review and experience with ZS overhead doors. While Zachary was very kind and helping me via text to recalibrate my door, at no charge. After a few days, the door began to behave the same way closing, and then opening again. I contacted Zachary and he rearranged his schedule to come to my home the same day. He identified the root clause as lost teeth on my rubber drive belt. He did not have repair parts for the specific brand I had. But when I called a different company, while Zachary waited, for the cost of belt replacement, it was about 85% of the cost of a new door opener. So I had Zachary replace my overhead door opener and service my door mechanisms. He found two broken hinges and replaced those as well, including lubricating the door. He and his wife completed the work in less than 90 minutes. He performed the set up and explained the new features of the door and called attention to the QR code and related app. I would unquestionably and highly recommend ZS overhead doors if you need any help with repair or replacement. Today our door mysteriously started closing, then opening and would not stay closed. I texted Zachary requesting he come over. Instead, he gave me his time to troubleshoot over text. Here's Zach's MO: I called him due to heavy rains Sunday night and water coming under our garage door - the original seal was trash and poorly done to begin with. Repairs completed 23 September 2021 - Prompt Response - Next day appointment - Communicative - Showed up even though he wasn't able to reach anyone via phone (Thank you, Zachary) - Efficient - Provides professional based recommendations - Prices as quoted - Licensed ==== After procrastinating for about a week, I finally decided to search my trusty Yelp app to find a garage overhead door repair on 22 September 2021. Backstory -  On 17 September 2021 my mother sends me a message informing me that the garage overhead door doesn't work. Luckily we do not park inside the garage so it wasn't a big deal. However, we use it as a primary entrance/exit but I was still in no rush to get it fixed, we just used the front door. I usually use another repairer who I've used consistently at least three times in the past. He does good work and is always professional. That same day I still contacted "my" usual garage overhead door repairer via text and sent him some pictures of the issue. It turns out that the lift master had detached and the torsion spring broke. Via text he informs me that he is out of torsion springs and it could be another 10 days before he receives some but that could be delayed due to shortages on the mainland. I didn't know this thing was such a high commodity!! I figured I would wait. After a couple days I told myself that I would search Yelp for someone with as good of a ratings as "my" repairer. Yet still, I procrastinated. Finally on 22 September 2021, I decided to take action. Lol. I searched Yelp and I found a few repairers with great reviews. After reading through a ton of reviews and viewing a ton more pictures (a lot of the pictures showed the same problem I was having). No wonder there is a shortage of torsion springs!! I decided on ZS Overhead Door because a lot of the reviews were recent comments about repairs/replacement to the torsion spring. I used the "request a quote" option to send my message. My message was sent late evening so I wasn't really expecting a response until the next day but, just like the business page suggests, I received a response within two hours. I put all my eggs in a basket - I opted not to use the "message other businesses" option because I had decided on ZS Overhead Door based on the reviews. Zachary's message surprised me. It wasn't one of those generic responses. The message thoroughly explained what needed to be done with recommendations specific to my needs and it included quotes (I love when I request a quotes and actually get a quote)! I went with his recommendations, afterall, I  don't know the first thing about fixing garage overhead doors. He also offered to come out the following day around midday, which I went ahead and confirmed. I had dental surgery that morning but assumed I would be done in time however, in case I wasn't I also provided my mother's number and our address. Once everything was confirmed, I informed my mother that the garage overhead repairer would be there around midday in case I wasn't back by then; this was also to ensure she was home. I was at Tripler (which is a dead zone so I had no phone service) and I was under sedation so when he called I couldn't have responded anyway. I guess he tried my mother's number also and when he couldn't get a hold of us, he sent a message to let me know he was on his way. Of course I didn't get that til later either. But, he still showed up! Thankfully he did because my mother didn't receive the call!! I get home around 1230 and go through the front door like I had been doing for the past week. My mother comes downstairs and tells me she opened the garage overhead door for me, confused because I was still loopy from being sedated, I asked if the repairer had already come. She confirmed that he and his female counterpart came, repairer to door, and left. Prompt and efficient. The repairs were completed and we paid based on what we were quoted. My garage door tension spring broke today. When it was installed 24 years ago, they only installed one tension spring. I texted him a picture of the repair that needed to be done and he quickly replied back with a quote and stated that it would be safer to install two tension springs instead of one. We were having garage door issues a few weeks ago. I was at my mom's house and I get this text from my husband that he's stuck in the garage. The manual override wasn't working and he was trying to figure out a way to open it up. So my husband calls the next day and ZS was able to come out at 11 that morning. Service was so quick. There were two of them that arrived. My husband explained the situation and they were quick to pinpoint and address the problem. He even gave troubleshooting tips on how to make sure the garage door is level. Long overdue review by more than a year so I can actually say that their work has still held tough!!! Made a call out to ZS Overheard Doors for an emergency repair. Zach responded very quickly and an appointment was set up for my home in Ewa Beach. Zach found the issue to be a broken spring which needed to be replaced. He also found a few more items of concern. One being the stabilizing bar which goes across the length of the garage door and the other BIG thing he noticed was that the motor was installed incorrectly by the homebuilder (Ewa Gentry). Zach replaced the broken spring with an even stronger spring which he stated would last longer. Instead of charging me for a stabilizer bar which he did not have in stock, he recommended a place to me that had it and which was more heavy duty as well. Regarding the motor, Zach showed me that the motor was not aligned at a straight angle but was actually about 10 inches higher than it should have been. Basically, he said the motor was straining to lift and lower the door because of the odd angle of the motor. Zach crafted a metal extension to correctly align the door and motor thus making it smoother and putting less strain on the whole system.
