While walking around the Bishop Arts District area, we went into numerous stores that all seemed to be similar... same "unique" tchotchkes, cards, vinyl stickers, expensive clothing items, etc. But when we entered Fete-ish, we were greeted by the most wonderful worker. (I wish we got her name). She talked to us, actually CONVERSED with us, not just the genetic/robotic "welcome." It was nice. Prices are pretty high, hence the 4/5 stars but the customer service was top notch! read more

I went to Zsa Zsa on Dec 30th, 2024 with my family to shop for Christmas decorations on sale. The decorations were cute and we decided to pick out some ornaments. As I removed the ornaments from the tree the employee notified us that we shouldn't attempt to remove the ornaments from the tree so we wouldn't have to pay for broken ornaments. She then removed the ornaments that we chose. Later, at the cash register, the employee, now visibly irritated, began wrapping the ornaments angrily and hastily. Then she handed me the bag of ornaments and, as we turned around to walk away, the employee said "stupid a** lady". Surprised after hearing the employee curse at us, I turned around and looked at the employee. The employee, now realizing that we heard her insult, said "actually I was talking about a lady on the podcast I'm listening to" and then gestured toward the earbud in her ear. Then we walked away again and heard a final insult, "f****** bitch". Overall, the abrasive attitude of the employee ruined our experience at Zsa Zsa. As a final note, just to ensure that the employee we encountered isn't confused with another employee I will describe her. This store is kitschy as hell, and I'm here for it. Fete-ish is quirky, silly, and probably the most "fun" store in the Bishop Arts District. I don't think I'd want my entire home to be decorated with stuff from this shop, but for cute little accents, this place is a hoot to browse. Art, holiday decor, candles, gifts, jewelry, etc. This store is all over the place, but connecting it all is a thorough-line of whimsey. I left with some awesome wall art of retro-future laser guns, and they look fantastic in my home. I saw a number of other cute touches that I think would look great in my apartment, but alas I was visiting and had but one suitcase. The staff was so friendly, knowledgeable, and helpful. I didn't get the store owners' name, but she'd tell you that some shop dog is the real owner, so I guess that's ok. Between two great hangouts, Fete-ish is a cool little hangout of it's own. In addition to selling all kinds of home accessories, hysterical stationary and even cute baby toys and clothes, I heard that on occasion you can pop in and get a drink while you shop! I spied lots of local art pieces, thousands of Christmas and holiday decorations and cute and quirky gifts. It was hard to get me to leave! LOVE LOVE LOVE this store in the BAD!!!! Sandwiched between Tillmans and Oddfellows, you can't miss it. It's has rainboots in the window. Anybooties, it's kind of a cross between a museum gift shop and your favorite little chachkis store. I mean, they have everything. Candles, incense, framed art, one of a kind paintings, pet stuff, beauty and bath, bar ware, cookbooks, aprons, lotions, flasks, baby stuff, little decorative crap like sandals (random) and martini glasses and of course my personal favorite...naughty cards. I mean NAUGHTY. Hilarity will ensue when you read. My girlfriends and I were practically peeing in our pants. The guy changing light bulbs was laughing at us. It's just a great store. My friend from out of town bought a great photo of a longhorn bull in a field, "Very Texas" she said. Right on. The guys that work in this store are soooo nice. You could literally walk around for hours and not see everything. So much to look at. OH! They also have those napkins and cards with the old pictures (like from the 50s) with hilarious captions. I adore this store! This past weekend I browsed through their Halloween stuff and was so close to buying a glitter covered disco spider. I'd have no where to display it, so I opted for a cute jack-o-lantern Halloween ring that I've been wearing. They already had some of their Christmas stuff out too. This store has everything from tons of yummy candles, cute lamps, paintings, martini glasses...all the way to fart and bacon scented candles, goofy mint holders and goofy flasks. No one can resist the cheeky gum containers with a range of silly, pun intended, political zingers galore by the cash register. Cute little store, we stop here every time we come to the Bishop Arts District. They sell a wide range of gifts, trinkets, boutique items, you name it. Today I bought a cute little pug purse, whose company donates 5% of its sales to Heart and Home Animal Rescue Foundation; some hot sauce made by a veteran owned company called The General's Hot Sauce; and a cute dog tag that says "Cute AF" for my dog, of course. This store is breathtaking. First off - the facade is always changing according to the current holiday season and is a large scale site-specific paper-machete installation. That alone, makes me simultaneously want to be the owner's friend and extremely jealous I don't own the store and think of amazing creative ideas like that on my own. The store is overflowing with entrancing objects perfect for any gift to yourself or a loved one. Candles, kitschy, semi-inappropriate greeting cards, beautiful baby gifts, quirky napkin rings, or even just to grab a cocktail on a Friday night whilst getting lost among the sea of fun goodies. What a quirky shop! One of my favorite items here are the color-in postcards and the eclectic socks collection. But truly the real gem of the store is the customer service. The owner (Lydia?) was incredibly helpful and friendly. She provided great info on the Bishops Arts District. & While I was exploring her shop, I never felt rushed or being pushed into buying something. Her sale associate was also a gem to work when I was looking for specific postcards. After reading the store's response to my original review and stopping by again, I am downgrading my review. First off, writing a comment to my review that basically says I don't 'get' the store and slyly and very quietly stating that I'm in the minority and therefore must be wrong does not invite my confidences in shopping at your store. Second, I stated in my original review that I didn't care for the items but that someone who does like these items would LOVE the store. I also gave it three stars based on that when in fact I personally found the store to be 2 stars for my taste. I visited again and still do not care for the merchandise and find it tacky and over the top, not unique and fun. Oh do I wish this place was closer to me...stumbled upon this place when I went to the mardi gras parade in the Bishop Arts District. They've got some great novelty gifts, and some crazy fun stuff (cards, candles, etc) which is right up my alley. The sales people in there are just as fun as their merchandise. Me and babe had a ball in there! Yes and the complimentary hurricanes during the mardi gras festivities, liked that too. :) There are tons of lovely restaurants and shops around there so you could totally make a day of it. SO MUCH CUTE! My co-workers and I decided to drop in after eating a bite of lunch, and let me tell you, I'm glad they asked me to peek in with them. I fell in love! The items are super cute, unique but oozing in hip pop-culture references, and prices are really good. I ended up buying three wall plaques for my office. Even better, the customer service here is stellar. Fridays and Saturdays after 6, patrons are encouraged to come in and shop while drinking complimentary cocktails and wine. How cool is that?! Very sweet baubles shop in Oak Cliff. I've wandered in here several times, when I needed a last minute birthday card or was searching for a unique birthday gift. You will DEFINITELY find a unique birthday gift for someone here...and they carry lots of locally produced items. The prices are also not exorbitant. So you can find a nice printed wall hanging for around $50 for instance. Or some fun candles for $7-10. They are frequently changing up the layout and the products of the store, so come in and get lost in the whimsy of this little gift shop! read more
