All are worthy of re-ordering on a future visit. The brisket sandwich was large and the portion ... generous. My two dining companions thought it was great ... I expect a bit more Smokey goodness. The bun is fine and stands up to a serious saucing. The ribs are meaty, a teenie bit fatty and arrived with more sauce than I like; but I am a dry rub BBQ guy. I only had breakfast, so I was hungry despite the early hour. The menu is divided into five broad categories: chicken, ribs, seafood, pizza, and sandwiches. I went with a chicken and ribs combo, the Oak Parker, which includes four ribs and three pieces of chicken, fries, creamy coleslaw, and a roll. The ribs were covered in a spicy tomato barbecue sauce; I prefer a sweeter sauce. The fried chicken had a crispy and delicious coating. PuPu Platter and Rib Kabobs baby that's what they do and Mucho more. A fun filled lunch she had Rib Kebob, Fries n Ribeye Garlic White Sauce Flatbread Pizza. Me the Famous PuPu Platter, Polynesian Hors D'oeuvres with chicken wingdings, ribs, jumbo shrimp, egg rolls, onion rings, coleslaw & roll. This was made Famous by the Veterans returning from the South Pacific after WW11 bet you didn't know. A marvelous take on the Nashville Chicken Sandwich and a really special treat Pulled Smoked Brisket OMG what a fantastic find. Large dining room and outside Patio, a full bar with great selection of Craft Beer on tap, liquor and wine too. Looking forward to a trip back really soon. 3/16/18--First and last time here. There is a Zukins downriver that is EXCELLENT! This one, well the photo speaks for itself. I ordered a full slab and they are full of fat and they weren't cleaned. So, I don't be going back. 1/16/2020 - I gave them another try and this time, the ribs were very good! They tasted wonderful. Also, one of the employees said they are getting BAR within a week I it two in order to bring in more customers! That would probably help because iwas aaa 6pm and NO ONE was inside. However, there were a few folks for carry out. If the ribs stay consistently good, I'll certainly stop in for a bite to eat. I will keep everyone posted! read more

Delicious ribs & chicken! I'm a bit surprised at some of the negative reviews l as I ordered a rack of ribs (long end) & fried chicken and both were really really good. The ribs were super tender with the bones falling out, and had a delicious smoke to them. The sauce on top was tangy and sweet and just the way I like BBQ sauce. The fries & coleslaw that came with were also very good. All for $11 that's an incredible value. The fried chicken was just as good. The skin was crispy and tasty and had a great crunch to it. The chicken on the inside was juicy and retained flavor and was not dry at all. Overall I was super impressed with Zukins. Reading some of the previous reviews I thought the ribs would be too fatty but if anything it was the best rack of ribs I've had in a while. I'll definitely be back again this summer. read more

After hearing a lot of rave reviews for this place we decided to grab some take-out. We got a pulled pork sandwich dinner and a chicken tender dinner. Two full meals for about $20 was a good deal. The wife and kids liked the chicken and French fries. They also came with a roll, slaw, and ranch. The pulled pork was okay, but I felt it needed more flavor or a bolder BBQ sauce. It also came with fries and coleslaw as well as 2 onion rings (kids liked the onion rings). I thought the fries were average and they were cut thick. The coleslaw had more of a mayonnaise texture than I like (I prefer it runny). I'll give them another try, as I wanted to check out the 5-mile fries and the rib kabobs. read more

This was our first visit here. We heard about it on the all things Livonia FB page. They were getting a lot of love and we wanted to see for ourselves. My wife had the half southern fried chicken and was very impressed. I had the "oak Parker". 7 rib bones and 3 pcs fried chicken. Everything was fantastic and Hot. We also sampled the rib kabobs, Awesome!! Their house made BBQ sauce is really good. Just enough heat to enhance the flavor without overpowering everything else. I just walked in and was asked we wanted to eat in and we said yes, THEN the gal behind the counter said it would be 1.5-1.75 hours before she could take our order and potentially serve us food and then pointed to the dining area and said I know there's no one here but that's how long it's going to take would you like to wait......in a response as rude as she presented the almost 2 hour wait I said HELL NO, you close at 8:00, it's 7:00 now, should I wait until a half hour after you close to get my food and eat inside ? Just had the best pizza I have had in a long time. Their deep dish pepperoni pizza is great at a great price. Fully cooked thick dough, hot stringy cheese, and they do not go overboard on the sauce. The rib kabobs are awesome too. read more

Tonight was takeout Tuesday and I decided when nothing else sounded good to give this place a try. Ribs were great - had a nice char on them and very tender - I got the short bone dinner (7 small ribs) and personally I think the coleslaw is important too. They scored big on both accounts. Short staffed but the people that were there were doing the best they could and what a treat to see everyone waiting for orders very chill about the wait. I had heard about Zukin's several years ago through a coworker who lives downriver. When the Livonia location first opened, he brought in rib kabobs when a bunch of us were working on a Saturday since things were very busy. They were delicious! Since then, I have always been meaning to try them out, but I always seemed to think of them at the most inopportune times. Finally, this weekend, I was craving some barbeque and remembered Zukin's! It was time to finally give them a try. I walked in and was pleasantly surprised to see a nice, clean, fast-casual style setup. Cool "barbeque joint" style décor, plenty of tables, TVs, and a nice big counter to order. I ordered the short end rib dinner, which comes with a half rack, fries, cole slaw, and a roll. After about 10-minutes, my box was ready to go and I headed home. At first bite, I knew this was going to be a great meal. The ribs were tender, but not too tender. The sauce was great...not overpowering, but still plenty of flavor. The steak fries were seasoned well with something like Lawry's Seasoning Salt (the ideal French fry seasoning in my opinion) and were yummy. The roll was, well...a roll. I didn't have the cole slaw since it's not my thing. But, back to the ribs.....they're excellent! I can't wait to have Zukin's again the next time I'm craving ribs. I'll probably go with the rib kabobs next time since they're just something you can't get everywhere. It's great having such a good, affordable barbeque place so close to home. I have bought ribs from Zukin's for 25 years, first at their Lincoln Park location and now closer to home in Livonia. Tonight our rib order was terrible, tough difficult to get the meat off the bone and very little flavor. The coleslaw was like eating Mayo straight out of the jar. The only reason I am commenting is the last couple of times I bought ribs from the Livonia location they have not compared to the Lincoln Park restaurant. I like to give every business several opportunity's, everyone has a bad night but 2 or 3 times being bad, well that is just the way prepare sell the food. I won't be back. read more

Rib Kabobs are a gift from the food gods. I'm from Downriver, so I know about Zukin's Rib Shack. To say I was excited to find out there was a second Zukin's near me, would be an understatement. Once we got there, we learned that the original owner had franchised his business, and this location was not owned by the Downriver family. I was a little worried, but I pushed forward. My wife and I both ordered the the Rib Kabob dinners. EXACTLY how I remember them. DELICIOUS!!!! They are amazing!! Their fries were also very good. The interior of the restaurant is really nice. There was definitely some time and effort put into the appearance of the place. The staff are all very friendly and welcoming. Going to Zukins is a tradition that my Aunt and I have when I'm in town. The bbq is very good and so is their bbq sauce. The ribs could have been a tad less fatty but they were still good. The pu pu platter is nice to share and gives you a little taste of a few different things. The restaurant is always very clean and well taken care of. The Mac and cheese is absolutely delicious. Today was our first night trying Zukins after being referred by a few friends. We ordered The Gizmo (ribs and shrimp) The Zukin Smorgasbord (ribs, fried chicken, shrimp and fish) and The Rib Kabob Dinner (3 fried rib kabobs). Portions were large, and each served with extra bbq sauce, fries, coleslaw, and a roll. The one dinner that would bring me back would have to be the Rib Kabobs. Their sauce is similar to primos BBQ sauce, which is okay with me since I enjoy more of a tangy then sweet sauce. The ribs were average. Not the best I've had, but what can you expect for a cheap Rib carry out. But I will say they did fall right off the bone. The staff was friendly and helpful when we got there. Great place with lots of different options. We brought my 2 and 4 year old and they both loved the mac n cheese, pizza, and even the rib kabobs. Generous proportions with rolls, coleslaw, and fries. Rib kabobs are tender morsels of heaven. Pizza is your classic round pizza with good sauce and the perfect amount of cheese. Nice break from Buddies and the like. We got bored of our usual take-out faves and decided to try Zukins for the first time. We ordered two 5 piece chicken tender dinners and a macaroni and cheese dinner to share all of them. All of us were surprised. It's so delicious! The chicken tenders are now my favorite of other local restaurants like this, and their fries are steak fries with perfect seasoning. Their mac and cheese is awesome! Spiral noodles with creamy cheese, awesome cheese pull, and great seasoning! I wasn't a fan of the cole slaw personally but I am kind of picky about coleslaw. Staff was very friendly on the phone and when I picked up the food. The dining area was empty on the Sunday we went, but it was very clean and spacious.
