I recently visited Delmarva Laser Eye Center in Easton, MD with my son , and unfortunately, my experience was far from satisfactory. When I made the appointment three weeks ago, I provided our insurance information, but they claim that they didn't get it. The lack of professionalism I encountered during our visit was disappointing. First and foremost, I was surprised to learn that the doctors do not conduct the eye exams; instead, their assistants handle this critical aspect of care. For an ophthalmology practice, this felt inappropriate and undermined the quality of service I expected. While waiting in the lobby, we were subjected to staff gossip about other patients, which made us feel uncomfortable and unvalued. It's essential for a healthcare setting to maintain professionalism and confidentiality, and this environment fell short in that regard. The receptionist was unhelpful and seemed unsure of her responsibilities, which added to our frustration. During the eye exam, the assistant mispronounced my son's name multiple times and even responded with "well duh" when we corrected her. This lack of respect and professionalism is unacceptable in any medical setting. When Dr. Klein finally came in, he repeatedly directed questions to me that were meant for my son, who is not a young child. This further contributed to the feeling that the staff was not adequately trained to handle patients appropriately. Overall, my experience at Delmarva Laser Eye Center was disappointing, and I do not plan to return. In fact, I would prefer to drive the 95 miles back home to see my son's ophthalmologist rather than deal with this office again. Good riddance.
