Okay so I tried this place out on a whim via Uber Eats... and I'm adding it to my short list of faves now! Everything I ordered was delicious. The quesabirria tacos were excellent and came with the toppings and broth. The fideo was savory and one of my favorites in the area now. Such a cute place and the food was delicious! We had an assortment since it was our first time. They give everyone fideo when you sit along with chips and salsa. The fideo was soooooo good!! We started with the queso flameado which was a little greasy but the flavor was awesome. We ordered 3 different taco plates and each came with borracho beans. I wasnt a fan of the beans, they seemed overcooked. We had the taco nortenos chagos tacos and alambre. All were super good, served with fresh onions and cilantro along with grilled veggies and potatoes. For dessert we had the chocolate flan which was moist and was light. I have to give this place one star and that goes for how fast my food was ready which I don't know if that's a good thing or not.. and the cleanliness of the restaurant. The service was fast and ladies were very nice . The food on the other hand was not good. I've had a bit a different Quesabiarra tacos from other places and these was were just not good. The consomé was very oily and that's all it tasted like. The birria were very dry and not a good amount of meat in the tacos . More cheese then anything. Tortillas were dry and somewhat hard.. i paid 14/15$ for just the tacos with a small order of beans that were the highlight of the meal ..no drink. We came to Chagos on a random recommendation. We arrived right as they opened at 10am and were warmly greeted by the staff. We asked for recommendations and decided on the menudo and Chagos combo with sides of fideo. They brought us chips and salsa as well. The fideo was delicious and well balanced. We could taste the layers of flavor in the broth. The red salsa was good, but green salsa took the prize for best of the two. It had a wonderful creaminess in the flavor and was the right amount of spice. The entree was next and the plates did not disappoint. The Chagos combo has two crumbled cheese enchiladas, two beef flautas in a green sauce with crumbled cheese on top, a Gordita, with your choice of two meats (we chose chicharron), rice, charro beans, seasoned potatoes and carrots, and lettuce and tomato salad. The charro beans were excellent with great depth of flavor. The rice was nicely done and not overpowering with excessive tomato sauce. The flautas and enchiladas were so good, but when combined with the green salsa, the rice, flautas and enchiladas went up another notch. The menudo was amazing as well with great seasoning that was well balanced. Dessert was a great way to finish off the meal with the churros brining crunchy and sweet flavors as should be. The arroz con leche took me to a different place that reminded me of my abuelita. The hospitality matched the food with attentiveness and knowledge of the menu. Everyone was just so nice here. You feel appreciated as a customer here. Ripoff and terrible food. It's crazy that this place can survive with all competitors being so much better than it. Enchiladas Mexicanas were nothing but multiple layers of rolled up tortillas with basically nothing else. It had about a teaspoon of sauce on top that was burnt to a crisp making the whole thing bone dry. There was nothing inside the enchiladas other than multiple layers of rolled up tortilla and finally the tiniest portion of cheese imaginable you had to use a microscope to see it. I feel like how dare you call this enchiladas mexicanas, thereby insulting your own people and myself as the customer. But clearly this place has no pride in its food. My go-to for barbacoa torta and quesabirria. I haven't found better in SATX yet. I would say that there could be more meat if that's all I ordered, but when you have the torta you're beyond satisfied. Big fan of the frijoles charros, and I think it's bc of the sliced hot dog. You don't have to eat the hot dog but it adds another flavor to the delicious beans that I don't see often. read more

The manager Erica (spelling?) came over and told me that I was not allowed to take pictures (on my DSLR). She then tried to get me to delete all my pictures, even though another party was taking pictures with their mobile. According to her, she had called the owner and that was "his policy". I explained to her that it was for my personal use, possibly for a future food blog, but she merely repeated it was "his policy". And proceeded to glare at me. She then took the check away from me. I told her I was still going to pay them, and she said that I could go to the front when I wanted to pay. Not sure what the reason for that was. Look, anyone who has an opinion on this or thinks I am in the wrong, feel free to share. I respect that places may be "afraid" of competition (have been told this before), but never is giving attitude to customers acceptable. The same way I rarely find it acceptable for customers to be unkind to them. Totally unnecessary. This all makes me very sad, because like I said the food is awesome. And Pedro, our waiter, was likewise a pleasure. Add to that great prices, this place could have been a real winner. Small place, plain with pictures of their dishes in the walls. Loved the fresh avocado. Meats were spiced well and charred, but not burnt. *Tlaquepaque Mini Taco (Barbacoa with special Tlaquepaque sauce). More on that barbocoa in a moment. The sauce here was the important thing. A tangy and sharp flavor, with a tinge of heat. *Barbacoa. Some say it should be goat, but it is the beef tongue + cheek version here. And it is delicious. Came out sizzling. Hot, succulent, moist, tender. Served with *beans (the menu said refried, but looked closer to charro beans to me) which were a little soupy but still tasty and *tortillas, both flour and corn, which were definitely homemade, fluffy, soft, warm. The flavor melts in your mouth. The consistency is nice, a little oil fat and not overly chewy or stringy. The most notable thing was that it was not mushy like most barbacoa I have had. Probably one of the best in town for me. Very torn here. I give this place credit for everything it deserves, but my experience was definitely rained on by the confrontation and attitude given by the manager. However, I recognize that Erica's handling of the situation with me should not necessarily negate the place for anyone else. Have been here several times, always solid. Big menu, just tried the Chicharron Prensado Taco al Vapor which was excellent, very flavorful and satisfying with a nice blend of textures. I don't know if they accidently gave us too many charro beans but there were a lot (it was a big order so maybe they added an extra bowl or two!)
