I love it when I find a "hole in the wall" gem of a place. I passed it up and had to back track a little to get there; It was worth it. It's small with about 10 tables inside. I was warmly greeted and quickly tended to. Their menu provided several items from different Central American countries and Mexican food too. I ordered their typical breakfast which consisted of fried sweet plantains, sour cream, 2 eggs, slice of cheese and avocado, and black refried beans. It reminded me a lot of Costa Rican style breakfast. It was very hearty. I also ordered one of the Honduran tamales and was pleased to find it had rice, Porto, potatoes, shredded carrot and peas. They also have Aguas frescas and 2 are not the normal ones you find in most Mexican restaurants. I orders the nance drink and was very pleased. If you're looking for something different and want to try cuisine from Central America, I highly recommend you get a shrimp and cheese pupusa, Honduran tamal, and one of their aguas frescas. read more

My son & I have been looking for a good Honduran Restaurant here in town. We were definitely excited about trying this one and it did not disappoint. It's a small business with a super limited parking but it's worth it! We ordered some Baleadas & Pollo con Tajadas. The chicken was so crispy and full of flavor. The aderezó was really good as well. This is an average run of the mill place. Truthfully, you'll enjoy ALOT more driving one more mile to the other Honduran restaurant on San Pedro avenue. The food isn't bad here, but it's not good. It's just estable. Usually you expect something amazing in home style cooking out of a whole in the wall, unfortunately, this place isn't it, and it's definitely a whole in the wall. So, why 3 stars? The service wasn't bad, the waitress was pretty attentive actually. It smelled good and looked clean. And the food served its purpose. So I can't just give it one star. But there was little to no flavor in the taquitos, the baleada or the yuca con chicharrón. Not good. Im Hondurian and wouldnt take anyone there to try my food. It's not tasty, it seems like they did it in a rush. Just not worth it.

The place is extremely small. Anyone taller than 6 ft will definitely need to duck in order not to get a concussion. Little parking. Service one out of our two waitresses was good. The one that wasn't was kind of rude. Forgot some of our drinks and noticed but then forgot to bring them to us. The food was okay. The flavor was alright, but some things came out faster than others, so as half our party was finished the other half was still waiting for their food to come out. We ordered the costilla de Res and it was a good medium rare. I asked for it to be well cooked. I could not continue eating the food. Also the food did not sit well in my stomach either. Doesn't happen to me but after the food there I can without a doubt say that this is some of the worst food I have eaten. Will never be coming here again as we are not locals, but just in case some tourists read this I would think twice about coming here! If you want local food I would check out other restaurants and if you don't want to waste a lot of time at a restaurant then look the other way. read more

I have been driving past this restaurant for several months now. I wasn't sure what to expect besides Central American cuisine. I've been craving fried plantains and "tipico" food since leaving Costa Rica after vacation last year. Parking is in the rear and when you walk in, the restaurant is homegrown. After walking in, I was immediately transported back to Costa Rica. They have tables and booths but only a few tables were taken. We took a seat near a window and the lone server came over to greet us, in Spanish. We ordered, but I guess our Spanish wasn't up to snuff because when she came back she spoke to us in English. Heads up: the Hondurena menu is in Spanish and there were a few times when we had to consult Wikipedia. We both ended up getting the #21 which is the tipico platter (tipico is the house dish, it's a little bit of everything and you find them in Central America). The platter was a good size, it came with carne asada, sausage, salsa (pico de gallo), crema (sour cream), queso (a slice of cheese), rice, beans, and FRIED PLANTAINS! The food came out quickly. Everything was really tasty, especially the carne asada, it was seasoned perfectly. I loved their homemade corn and flour tortillas that came along with the food. The fried plantains were just what I was craving, perfectly fried and caramelized. We had enough food to take home and we did just that. I'll be coming back, I can't wait to try their pupusas and other Honduran specialties. TL;DR: authentic Central American restaurant with great food for an even better price! Be prepared to order in Spanish if need be, but that only adds to the charm. read more

Great food! Don't expect a fancy place, this place is modest , small and clean. The food is prepare on a traditional way and it's always fresh and tasty. Our first time here & I'm ready to write this review. Seen good reports by others and they are right. It was all amazing. The coffee was even flavorful and not too hot. Just right. We had the mojarra frita and #22 plate with the carne asada. Jesús C. has a good pic of that. The fish was fresh and amazing. Presented with tostones. Yes. The beans are delicious. I usually do add lime to them but these really didn't need any extra seasoning. We'll be going back to try more menu items.:) The hot sauce is definitely very hot. Including the little bottle on the table so procede with caution unless you're up for the challenge. It is clean and tidy to be a little hole in the wall restaurant but they make good use of the space. It's great to have in SA some other Latin food choices so that is awesome. Something I do miss from ATX but with food this good not for long then. Course, SA has the best tortillas. If I could give this restaurant 0 stars I would. Closes until 7p on a Saturday and my family and I arrive about 5p and we are told they are only taking to go orders. So we place our order and we ask for no cabbage in the pollo con tejadas, carne asada con tejadas and an order of tacos Hondureños. When we arrive back home which is more than 20 minutes to our surprise the order is incorrect. The pollo with Tejadas had extra cabbage, the carne asada was mostly pieces of fat and the flautas had very little chicken. We call the restaurant as we are willing to go back and no one answers. I found this place by chance and when I was driving near North Star Mall. I saw "Honduran Food" I pulled over instantly and took a picture so I could find it again. My boyfriend is from Honduras so I knew he would want to go. I've tried some authentic Honduran stuff and I was also really interested in going. For me, a good restaurant is about taste, and freshness. This was a good choice I had a chile relleno (SP) filled with pico (hamburger/potatoes?) Instead of a greasy breading it was egg coated, looked like a scrambled egg covering, without the grease you get elsewhere you could taste the chile and the pico was really, really good The beans were a bit darker then the basic refried and had a flavor of maybe a touch of lime and spices,, the white rice had a few vegetables in it and was a nice fluffy flavorful side And the side salad was a nice touch of fresh greens The flour tortillas were really good, browned on both sides, thick and again have I mentioned flavor? Spanish is predominant throughout the menu and with the staff but is worth the effort.
