After seeing it on social media, we drove one hour to try Tacos on the Street and can I just say, IT WAS SO WORTH IT! This restaurant is not only beautiful and clean, the service provided by Frank M. (the manager) and the staff was exceptional. The food absolutely BLEW US AWAY. The asada tacos were flavorful and tender, perfectly crispy and nicely presented. The entire time Frank took care of us, talked to us about the history of the brand and promotions. They have an awesome app and rewards program! I love that they have the nutrition info on the menu, don't use seed oils, they have Diet Jarritos and even diet mexican cola on tap. Fod dessert they made us some delicious sundaes using van leuwen ice cream and it was so delicious. I reccommend the combo so you can try everything they have. I substituted the beans for their yummy guac it was SO MUCH. The quesadilla tastes so good on flour tortillas but their homemade corn was good for tostada and tacos. Another treat was their hibiscus juice so yummy and refreshing. Overall i would reccommend this place its not just a taco place its an experience! There's a shared patio and lots of seating inside. They have a TV for the games.

Finally came to try this place out after moving hereI've been saying for a while that I needed to come. I ordered the number one, and I felt like it had a little bit of everything. The avocado was really good, and the meat was full of flavor and tasted so fresh. I was told everything is made to order, which definitely makes it even better. I also gave the mezcalita a try and really liked it it was full of flavor, and the alcohol was not overpowering at all. They also have happy hour, so I'll definitely need to come back and try that next time. The general manager was super nice and gave us a rundown of everything since it was our first time there.

Cold bean, stale chips, bland asada.

Just don't, cold bean, yes only one bean in mystery gravy, stale chips, no eating utensils anywhere, soda machines only dispense plain carbonated water, and I had to include a picture of the filthy restroom ...at 8:30 in the morning. They open at 8:00.

Went in for a quick bite so just got a taco and a tostada. They only serve the carne asada so no other options like chicken or pastor. Staff was great and answered questions about the food. If you are vegetarian, you might be limited as the beans are made with lard I enjoyed the fresh made corn tortillas, they have a different taste compared to the packaged ones and most places don't do that. The meat was tender and had no chewy or fatty bits. They don't cook in gas and I could taste the charcoal. Salsa and guac tastes fresh and was not spicy. I would get the tomato salsa on the side as the water made the tortillas soggy and rip apart. I didn't taste the drinks, but definitely want to on the next visit. The only downside is that the tacos were pricey for the size. I do give them a pass since I did like them food and beef has been very expensive.

Tried this place out with the fam since it was near the chicken place we also wanted to try. I wasnt expecting much, but food was okay. If youre looking for authentic street tacos this is not it. They only got one type of salsa to choose from. You can either do chicken or steak for the protein options. If I go back I would try their ice cream Sundaes they serve there.

3-taco steak combo. The tacos weren't even warm.

This place has so much potential and I really hope they can get it together to have a long and successful future here as the first location outside of MX. It's cute, it's colorful, it's got friendly staff, it's clean, and it's got what San Antonio loves- TACOS! After we explained we were first-timers, the nice gentleman at the counter helped us with the menu options and make our choices. We got two combo meals, one beef and one chicken, to share so we could try each kind. Since DH doesn't care for cilantro, he said he could have all the accompaniments put on the side, which seemed like a perfect solution. The food arrived- 2 beef combos, no chicken. He took it back and brought chicken. No accompaniments on the side at all so I had to go back and ask- he said they were on the side (no they weren't) but he gave me some more of those prefilled plastic cups, probably meant for to-go orders, with salsas, onions, and cilantro. Sat back down to find the tacos were barely warm. They just cooked them, how could they go cold so fast?? Was it the high ceiling and open chilly space? Not enough diners to emit body heat to warm the place? The flavors were ok, the chicken was dry, maybe they would have been better if they were hot. One of the salsa cups was practically all tomato water, no salsa of substance. The beans were nothing special and tasted like they came from a can. The tortilla chips were good. Attention to detail can make or break a place like this, considering all the competition for tacos, so I really hope our experience was not the norm.

A new place to try out. It was ok. Nothing amazing about these tacos. Disappointed, I was hoping for much better

Tacos on the Street was great! Loved the chill vibes, good music, and casual setup.. it really felt like an authentic taco spot. The mezcalita margarita was super sour (just how I like it!) and came with a candy inside that was bomb af.. sweet, tangy, and the perfect combo. My husband and I both ordered the TOT combo.. he got his on flour tortillas and I went with corn. I had all the fixings while he kept it simple with just guacamole. Both were delicious! It's exactly what we imagine when we think of street tacos.. took us right back to Cali and those little taco trucks serving up perfect bites. The meat was perfectly grilled, tender, and full of flavor. Loved the grilled onion and jalapeño on the plate too! The salsa hit just right, and the condiment bar gave it that classic taquería touch.. simple, authentic, and full of character. Great value, great food, and just a solid all-around experience. Definitely a must if you're craving real-deal tacos with good energy!

We ate here two nights in a row. Service is very fast. Dining area is clean. Tostada is made with yummy Gouda cheese. Carne Asada is tasty with a slight smoky flavor.

I give this place 2 stars because their service was very friendly and the restaurant itself was aesthetically pleasing. The food I'm sorry to say was below average. It seems as if they're trying to make authentic street tacos but they definitely missed the mark. The tortillas were alright but they top the carne asada with a cheap guacamole and what seemed to be blended tomato slush. The meat itself was flavorless and chewy. They only offer one type of meat- carne asada but if that's the case then why not make sure the meat is amazing. The salsa offered is thick and smoky which it's not bad but it's not the kind normally used for tacos. I was hoping to enjoy this place as it's new to the area but I probably will never return. Maybe if they changed the menu and the quality of the tacos. They also offer quesadillas and tostadas, but they are all similar in items used.

We were surprised by how much we enjoyed it. Their two self-serve complementary salsas were also fun and creamy. Concha- Delicious and we liked the top of it. Maybe one of our favorite conchas. Elote hot cake - Came out really hot and was delicious. These are only available on weekends. I was tempted to get more but we had lots more food targets on the schedule. Torta with Asada was pretty good too. But the other items excited me more I think. The person at the front also gave us some samples of other taco fillings to try: the fillings of the La Ranchera: Potatoes and pico de gallo in salsa ranchera and also grilled nopales. My husband who is usually not as crazy as me about nopales liked them here. They have mole on the weekends but it's not housemade from scratch. They use premade mole and add some more things to it so we skipped that one. I'm taken aback every time I walk into to this wonderfully positioned taqueria in downtown steps from the River Walk. The smells, the feels, the sounds- it'll set your senses on fire. It's ambience is nothing short of walking the streets of Mexico and stumbling across the best local food find there is- it's your lucky day. It doesn't end there, because I have yet to discuss the flavors that this place dishes out. If you can imagine that other taquerias in town as as good as mamma's cooking, Plantaqueria is grandma's cooking saying, " I taught them everything they know." The counter service, decor and neon lights transport you to a pueblo that you probably have no business being in but were fortunate enough to get lost in. I feel that the people working to advance this visionary concept are in love with what they do because you get that experience with every bite of fresh, homemade goodness, weather you dine in or take/order out. Dude, fresh corn and flour tortillas, C'mon, man!! And speaking of vision, the owner, Sofia, who looks like she would get IDd at a bar has created something truly unique and incredibly delicious. Plantaqueria has revolutionized modern, classical Mexican street cuisine. It's open 7am-7pm so you can literally have this all day and you might wish you did. Y'all need to get you some, and don't thank me, thank the purveyors of this Alamo City gem. P.s. I've brought my mom in to eat this stuff and she totally agrees!

Pulled up on a Friday late night with my family ordered the standard 5 tacos. They are a bit pricey as well. I ordered the carne Asada and my mother in law ordered the chicken. While it did seem like it tasted good it was super greasy. (TMI coming up) When I woke up the next morning my I noticed my bowels were literally moving the next day, (I counted about 9 times). I felt bloated and everything. My wife even told me that as we were pulling off she witnessed the cook I believe his name is Julio eating some of the product while he was preparing peoples food (the side door of the food truck was open so you could see right in). Funny enough we decided to go back Saturday evening to give them another try, thinking it would be better, BOY was we wrong. I ordered the same order plus charro Beans, elote (corn in a cup) and 3 cans of sprite. This time we took literally one bite and the meat was DRYER than the Saharan desert both the carne asada and the chicken. (Tasted like some reheated old meat or meat that had been made days prior). We were already at the hotel at this point and was infuriated!!! We ended up calling and I believe I spoke to Julio (or whoever the cook is) over the phone. After lying saying that he cooked the meat fresh that day he stuttered I told him aint no way the meat was fresh. He then said and I quote " I cooked the meat "a couple days ago" then said "sorry I burnt it or overcooked it". (Knowing that why would you serve that to me?) I then stated "yes it tasted old period". I requested a refund in which he agreed to. Driving all the way back I brought the food back as well. Julio (or whoever the cooks name is) tried to plead his case to me saying that the meat is fresh and took a fork and tasted the food himself and then tried to offer me the food. I told him "no I don't want to taste it, just refund me please" in which he did. Dishonesty, Not handling food with care, lying. Is something that crosses the line and I won't be back. *Also if the owner is reading this I have the phone conversation recorded and the video evidence to show proof this whole interaction, so do not just glaze over this review* I don't like writing bad reviews, but this one is for sure warranted. Seems like they will dress up the taco and selling you some "old meat" people just be careful and mindful when coming to this taco truck. "The Earths Best Taco" they say... that's a stretch!

My husband had the potato and egg taco (same feedback as me), and the beef taco, which he absolutely loved. Will we be back? No, but you can try it for yourselves (maybe not the potato and egg though).
