During the heat spell and after the Jays game we rushed to 00 to get a gelato and quickly get on our last GO train. We didn't really have the time to try some flavours or even check properly this literally a hole in a wall place late at night. We tried the Mango Plant Based/Vegan Gelato, pistachio and a salted caramel. Family loved the pistachio and SC flavours. My mango was OK. Tasted exactly like I was having an Ataulfo. Good flavour and not overly sweet. Would have preferred an Alphonso mango. There limited flavours available, unlike some places that have 20/30 flavours. They apparently have been in business for more or less than a decade which is good as well. read more

Adding this to my list of favourite spots for gelato! We got the pistachio and lemon cookie. Pistachio had a great nutty flavour and paired super well with the lemon cookie. I'll be honest. When I first found this spot on Yelp I was a little weary. I think it was the photos that threw me off. However, when I ended up with a sweet tooth on a Thursday night while staying just right around the corner, I caved. 00 Gelato it was. I arrived to find a small walk up window with seating reserved in the street. They also had fun music playing to keep a fun vibe going. A line was quickly forming and I jumped in before it got too long. There were about eight customers in front of me and the line moved relatively quickly. You have to get the two scoop option if you want two flavors, though. And a single scoop will be more than enough to satisfy your craving for gelato! I had the peanut butter chocolate, Ferrero rocher, and strawberry sorbet on my first visit. This was probably more ice cream than I needed in three days, but it was a warm evening and I wasn't going to let this delicious commodity go to waste. Cute little gelato shop along King Street West. This is a great place to visit if you are taking a summer stroll and want some sweets to cool you down. They have a mix of flavours from chocolate to mango sorbets. After trying out the gelatos a few times, I recommend going with the milk based flavours (i.e. chocolate, ferrero rocher, etc.) as the taste is more prominent versus some of the sorbets which are a lot less flavourful. Great gelato! Sometimes their scoop sizes are not consistent: depending on who works there, you might get tiny or huge scoops. They usually have around 5 flavours available, 1-2 vegan options/sorbets. Their hazelnut gelato is my personal favourite. They always mix up their flavours, it's never the same one week compared to the other so you can try new ones when you go back a couple of days later. The place is tiny (it's just a stand) but they have a cute seating area a few steps away from the store. If you ask they can show you where it is. I'm a sucker for James Bond themes, and I love ice cream, so I should love 00 Gelato but unfortunately this hole in the wall (door in the wall?) ice cream place is the Bond equivalent of the bad Roger Moore movies. I stopped by for ice cream late in the day and the selections were rather limited. Fair enough, things run out and the early bird gets the ice cream. But even with the limited selection the ice cream just wasn't that good. I got the Maple Pecan and my wife got the Cheesecake. I just didn't like mine and the Cheesecake was only marginally better in my opinion. Great little store on King St downtown Toronto. The store is only big enough to house the gelato freezer so it's basically a take-out only place. There's around 10-12 flavors each day. The small was $5 which was the perfect size for me. I ordered the London Fog and it tasted exactly like the tea (but sweetened) while my indecisive friend had to get a taste test and ended up with passion fruit. So based on the fact that what I thought was a poor gelato was in fact a sorbet, I'll revise my rating to 3 stars. The gelatos my wife and kids are still, in our collective opinion, okay renditions, nothing that blew us away in terms of quality. And the sorbet flavors we had were still cloying after a few scoops. IMO, I would suggest that OO Gelato make guava-passionfruit and lemon gelatos instead of sorbets -- after all, if you're a gelateria, go whole hog on gelato flavors only and make the very best! read more
