It used to be a 5 star review but after tonight My son had issues finding a place who could cut his hair. He loved this place. He went tonight 12/19 at 4:30-5:10 (if the owner is looking) and the person told him he wasn't comfortable cutting his hair since it was too long( it's not that long, just full). Hit and miss. Sometimes my kids have looked great leaving this place, and other times just "meh". My kids love that they get a beverage after their cuts, and enjoy the games they have. Overall, worth the walk-in wait. read more

I very rarely leave a negative review for a business, but I feel the company needs to know about this. My name is Jack, and I believe I've been to the Redmond location 3-4 times now. I surely will not be returning though. A few months ago, I went in, put my name down on the tablet as normal, and waited my turn. An unfamiliar face called my name as soon as it was my turn, and I walked up to his chair. I simply stated that I wanted a number two on the sides, and a number five on the top, and if he could please blend it in. He gave me kind of a distant nod and started the cut. I'd never really had a bad haircut haircut before this, so I was not concerned at all until the end. I am not a professional barber, but there were a multitude of things going on the just felt like this person cutting my hair had absolutely NO idea what they were doing. For one, he didn't even use an electric trimmer or a guard. He cut my hair using a single pair of scissors. He also was extremely rough, pulling at my hair and the side of my head repeatedly for some reason. He also made no effort to speak/communicate at all, which made things a little awkward. At the end of the cut, he gave me thumbs up? I guess asking if it was good. I asked if he had anything to style it such as a pomade. He had no clue what i was saying, and said no. What kind a barber shop has no styling products. I walked up to the counter to pay and was pissed off. I've never left a $0 tip before, but this time was my first. I left and went immediately the the Woodinville location where I have had great haircuts before. I signed into the tablet, and waited my turn again. Upon being called to a chair, I said nothing of what had just happened, and just asked her for the same, and to clean up some of the loose ends. Almost immediately, the woman cutting my hair asked "who cut this last??" "This is terrible." And I told her what had happened. She immediately knew without my even having to say who had done it. She did the best she could with what the previous guy had butchered, and I left somewhat happy. Fast forward about a month, I needed another haircut, I ended up back at the Redmond location as it is close to my work, and signed in. I was shocked to see the same guy who cut my hair before was still there. I figured I had about a 20% chance that I would end up in his chair; and as my luck would have it, of course I did. I reluctantly walked up and as friendly as I could said the same thing. 2 on the sides and 5 on top, please try to blend. This time was just as bad. I've never had a haircut where scissors are used so erratically and where it is borderline painful. My hair at the end looked like a bowlcut and I felt so embarrassed and stupid for somehow even winding up back at the Redmond location again. He made a motion to ask if I would like something to spike up my hair. I said "No, I rode my motorcycle so there's no point because I have a helmet." Then, all of the sudden he starts blasting me with about 1/4 can of hairspray, which I did not want at all. I put my hand up and stopped him, paid, and got the hell out of there. This time, I again, went immediately to the Woodinville location and a different barber cut my hair. He did a great job and kept apologizing on behalf of the other guy, and saying how his work was atrocious and it gives other barbers a bad name. After finishing, they didn't even charge me and I really appreciated that. I don't understand how somehow who can't communicate with customers, can't even cut hair, doesn't know the products, etc. is still cutting people's hair at the Redmond location. I will never be back and I feel terrible for anyone who gets their hair cut by that barber. read more

This place is a decent compromise from the various "higher-end" barbershops around town where it's harder to get in to. They don't accept reservations so it's on a first-come, first-served basis and they can get you in-and-out within 30min. When there's a wait it can be annoying, though coming on the earlier side helps your chances. I once waited +30min, which is a bit annoying and made me wish they did take reservations (this model feels a bit stuck in the past). But the staff is very friendly, they do a great job on their fades, and even give you a free drink. Though I have encountered a few minor issues with long hairs that I had to trim at home, but I think that's a result of the "quickness" that this place provides. If you're looking for a quick cut without making reservations and willing to wait if there's a line, this place is your jam. If you care about the details in your cuts and want reservations, then this might not be the place for you. I've give this place a 3.5 but round up because I've had a great experience with the staff. read more

I had a very bad experience when I walked in on a bright sunny day. The kiosk was in direct sunlight and the glair was so bad that I couldn't read the screen. I asked the man to check me in and inquired about the wait time, I also apologized for not being able to see... He was so mad at me he was in the middle of a haircut but he barked at me and insisted I use the kiosk. It looked like it disturbed his current guest as well. He then waived his arm and said I should move the kiosk. I lifted the awkward thing on the heavy post and carried it to a shady spot. I then checked in. I went to sit down again and as I did so he became extremely grumpy and walked sighing and grumbling over and made a show while holding sharp scissors angrily and moved the kiosk back into the direct sunlight! I apologized again and he gave me mean looks. I was sitting at the bar at this time and asked again how long the wait was. It was silly that he did not have an estimate. He was rude and angry and off putting. The shop was weird due to the bright sunlight and the kiosk being so important to business. I realize there is an app that you can use to get online and it gives you expectations of the timeframe. However, the in-store experience is so terrible at this location I will not return. I then asked about a longer cut and he said no long cuts. I was pretty disappointed that I could only get a buzz cut. I decided to leave, however I am a regular at Woodinville 028 where they treat me with respect and also cut my hair the way I like. They also use more than one sign in process easily and smoothly making me feel invited and welcome. I do not recommend this location but in other locations the 028; barbershop is a friendly place with hospitable and skilled barbers. read more

I only provided few pictures of what I wanted my hairstyle to look like and not knowing how it's gonna turn out on me, but the barber was really patient, he did my hair one section at a time until I was satisfied. Went due to many five star reviews here but the haircut did not meet expectations. Many reviews are from a year or two ago when the business may have been managed by the owner but the current experience is no where close to five stars. Got a cut that was uneven, that is the least I expect from a decent barber. Instructions given were not followed initially and it felt like the barber wanted to get the cut done asap and me out of the chair quickly - even though there were no other clients there and two other barbers were just hanging around waiting for customers to walk in. This is my favorite barbershop on the eastside! I have tried them all, searching in vain for years for a great spot. I found 028 a year ago and have been getting consistently excellent cuts since. Everybody who works there is great Today, I had my favorite cut so far from Tim. He is meticulous with amazing attention to detail. The haircut was perfect, better than I envisioned, and he took the extra time to line up my beard as well. Tim was very friendly with a warm, positive energy and was also not chatty (which I appreciate). Definitely see Tim! Great work taming my Covid hair. I forgot my barbers name sadly but the guy did fantastic work reigning in my hair in. Extremely affordable which makes tipping all the easier. I needed a haircut and was lamenting the fact that I had to drive to Bellevue to my regular barber, then, low and behold while scrolling through Instagram I see a picture of a new barbershop in downtown Redmond "028 Barber Shop". I go the next day and received a great cut from Bob, the owner. I'm pretty particular about my cut and have some cowlicks that make my hair a challenge. Bob did a great job; got the fade just right and handled the cowlick perfectly. The shop has an industrial vibe, good music and a free drink with a cut. I'll definitely be going back. read more

So myself and my son have both gotten haircuts here and they were great. Fast, friendly and efficient. Today that was not the case. We hoined the wait list and were next in line, another customer came 5 to 10 minutes after us. I came here this week and got a great haircut, when I paid I didn't add a tip because I was planning on grabbing some cash from the car, before I was able to say anything the barber asked if he'd done something wrong. I sad nope just paying and he goes then why aren't you giving me a tip (like a jerk) and before I was able to tell him that I was going to get change he basically yelled at me and told me never to come back to the shop. Our most recent visit we were greeted by all three stylists looking up and turning back to chairs.
