While visiting Austin on business I was driving and saw a 1-800 Got Junk truck pull up next to me at a stop light. The passenger of the vehicle was blowing smoke clouds out of his truck and I initially thought nothing of it. The smoke turned out to be marijuana smoke which I thought was extremely unprofessional and dangerous. Y'all are operating these big trucks on the road and your truck crews are blatantly smoking weed while driving. This is obviously 1 illegal and 2 very dangerous for others on the road. These guys came over, sized up my junk-junk, backed up to it and dumped it in their truck-truck** with zero issue. When they mentioned that I had initially indicated a loveseat be hauled off too, I said sure, as long as it wouldn't be terribly more expensive than the initial haul. The price adjustment was totally reasonable, and off they took it. $203 to remove a loveseat and 2 cubic yards of crap isn't bad when you're desperate to finish moving and clearing your house for new owners. They called me with an accurate time frame for arrival, were super courteous, and didn't balk when I sneakily added an item or two to the junk pile. Search elsewhere for your junk haul away. Our first and only experience was enough. They quoted me a price of around $200 to haul off an assortment of junk/trash that was in a big pile in our garage, and assured me it shouldn't be over $250. I felt like that was steep, but we were in a bind and needed to get rid of the junk. After they had it all loaded up, he came to me and said I owed $350. I should have written him a check for $250 and told him to get lost...but, I was there alone and just tried to reason with him, but to no avail. After giving him payment, he then had the audacity to give me a coupon $20 off -- jerk could have applied that right then to at least BEGIN to make up for his incorrect quote! Had all my junk neatly in the back of my mother in laws pick up, dropped the tail gate for them, and went inside. Came back 2 minutes later to see scratches all down the side of the truck from the guys belt buckle. Completely denied it and drove off. read more

The communication for the service was great. I got a heads up call as to when they were going to get there. But when they showed up, it was obvious when they got off the truck that their shoes were complete muddy (it rained earlier in the day). I asked if they had any covers for their shoes and they said no. So there was a bit of a stalemate as to how they were planning to deal with this obvious problem with going into a residence in that condition. I told them to use the hose on the side of the house to at least take the bulk mud off and went inside to grab up every old blanket and towel I could find. Because I wanted the stuff out of my house, I agreed to the price and they started their work. Turned out to be more stuff that could fit in the truck and they promptly sent out another truck to get the remaining items. There was dirt/mud on the carpeted stairs and on the entryway that I had to clean up after they left. Here's the thing... model of this company is to give you an estimate of the work when they get there. But it wasn't going to accept, I would have been left with a muddy house to clean up after them as they walked around to review this items to be taken. The men were friendly, professional , and worked really hard- especially with so many small but heavy items to remove. I like their uniforms and logo trucks so you know it is a legit business. We used this company yesterday. They came to our house and gave us a price quote which was really just a general range of prices based on truck volume. The quote was higher (like double the others we had received) than most of the quotes but they did actually show up so that was a plus - I will add that they were late to our appointment. They agreed to take 3 wooden pallets as well- however they forgot to take them because they were on the other side of truck from where they were working - so Out of sight out of mind I guess? The people working were nice enough and seemed generally happy to help us out. They did ask for a tip on top of the actual haul off fee which I found odd for a junk removal service. They were efficient and the whole job took them about 30 min. I would use them again if I was in a bind, however it may be more worth your time to find a cheaper quote. Minus two stars for timeliness, price, and not removing all of our junk like we asked. read more

Excellent service from start to finish. I called ahead of time and was given rates based on my description of the pick up, but was well informed it was an estimate. I also want to state that I had my pick up done during the COVID-19 pandemic, and was extremely pleased with the precautions taken. The driver called 20 minutes before arriving and showed up on time. They kept their distance and wore masks (per the city guidelines). The were quick and efficient and got the work done quickly. I would highly recommend this company and would use them again in a heart beat. Plus the cost was exactly as estimated. I had an old mattress that I needed to get rid of. The horrible delivery company - supposedly offering 'white glove service' for my new mattress - wouldn't take away the old one (first time I've run into this in 2 mattress purchases). Anyway, I called 1-800 GOT JUNK and quickly scheduled a truck to come out. The guys arrived a couple of days later early within the 2-hour window given - they were really polite and efficient. This place is awesome. We're moving (uh, tomorrow) and I decided that instead of asking our friends to come over and help us haul all of our stuff away to hire someone to do it. And wow, am I glad! I was able to book online for same day pick up. They came over and gave me my estimate which, ouch, and got everything packed up and out within 90 minutes. My husband and I kept finding more and more garbage for them to take (A++ Consumers). I would recommend it to anyone moving or who just has a ton of crap to get rid of, so much better than dealing with it yourself. It is such a relief to have that over with, it may be expensive but it was worth it to me. There were 3 dudes here sweating buckets, I know it would have taken us 3x as long to do it. Yes. They are pricey, but when you figure the cost of a Uhaul ($20 plus $15 insurance plus .79/mile) and gathering friends to move your old, broke down, heavy as hell couch and chair and 2 mattress sets, plus one bed frame in a 3 story place, it's not gonna cost much less than these guys. Also, you would have to drive some to Goodwill and some to the dump (near Manor) who also will charge you. I will say that it's a little daunting and stress- inducing to not get a quote over the phone, but have on mind what you can spend and see if you can work a deal. It took about an hour and the guy even took apart my bed frame which wasn't part of the deal. He was super nice and friendly. I would recommend them. It ended up with tax and all at $312 plus I gave a $20 tip. read more

I was disappointed with the pricing and service after the feedback I Got from friends who,had used them in other areas of the country. I had booked them online and given them a pretty comprehensive list of all,the stuff I,needed taken away. Once they arrived and walked the property with me they said they did not know,if they could fit it all,in one trip and that the price would be close to,$600. I was kind of shocked. Friends had had entire houses cleaned out for less than $500. The day before I Had moved all,of my stuff from this house for about 850. They Said it would take them about 1.5 hours to clear out the stuff. It ended up,taking them 45 min. To clear it all out. It all fit in the truck. I feel,that the price was inflated for,what they took and that the,pricing method is not very transparent. The website states that they sweep.up,after clearing out garages, sheds, etc. when I asked if they planned to,sweep,up, the dude said they didn't do,that. When i pointed out that the website says it is an included service, he said they would do it. They had good attitudes but I feel,that I,was overcharged. The team even removed the legs of my old table before moving it out, so the table wouldn't scratch the hallway or doorframe on the way out. The Service came on time, quoted me a price "200-225" and removed the junk in a matter of minutes. They then came and told me the final cost was 325. I asked why the difference and was told what they removed took up more room in the truck than then thought. I am too old and too tired to argue. So, I'm writing this instead. I have not hired this company for any junk removal services. I was however cut off in traffic off by a Got Junk driver this past Saturday morning in Cedar Park. The driver of a Got Junk truck crossed 2 lanes of traffic without looking and ran me off the road. I honked and my brakes squeeled, but the driver paid no attention to me and continued driving without stopping to see if he had caused an accident. read more

Changed my appointment time without telling me. The only reason I even found out was that I called to see if I could get a more precise time within the 2 hour pickup window I was given and they said that my pickup was actually scheduled for the following day. I said that wouldn't work for me and that I had no phone call or email even notifying me of this change. BTW they had already changed my appointment time once to a less convenient but still workable time for me. This new appointment wasn't even a possibility for me. After keeping me on hold for 5 minutes all they could say was sorry that no one emailed me about the time change but there's nothing they can do. So unprofessional!When your company screw up like that, you do something to fix it. That's how you run a business. They called and came on time, took a look at my junk and after some haggling I got it down to about $125 (had a ton of old boxes and toys and some housewares that just needed to go). They were swift and swept out the garage too. It is a little pricey but in my case it was worth it. read more

I signed up for Yelp just to review this company. To preface this, I am not a complainer as far as service goes, including at restaurants. I have never experienced such incompetence. I had a queen size mattress and box spring I needed to get rid of and 1-800-GOT-JUNK was the first ad that popped up when I searched on Google. I went to the website and scheduled the pick up. The first red flag I found was that I was never given an estimate. I scoured the website and my confirmation email and was unable to locate a cost. I assumed, for something so small, it wouldn't be more than $75. The day before the pickup time, I was called by a "Got Junk" employee who confirmed the pickup time. I took that opportunity to ask what an expected price might be. He stated that they don't give a price until they arrive and that if I don't like the price, I can tell them and they won't make me pay it. I found that far fetched and quite honestly didn't believe it, but I accepted it and hung up the phone. I also found it strange that they couldn't give me an estimate for something as standard as A QUEEN MATTRESS AND BOX SPRING. The next day in preparation for pickup, I woke up early and had to move the mattress and box spring from the back of my storage unit. This entailed taking almost everything out of my storage unit and putting it all back in. The "GOT JUNK" employee's showed up and I met them downstairs. As we walked to my storage unit, I again asked how much he thought it would cost. He AGAIN stated he would have to look at it before he made that determination to which I reiterated that it was a MATTRESS AND BOX SPRING. We got up to the storage unit and he saw that the items I needed hauled off were, you guessed it, a mattress and box spring. He then shows me this form that has prices starting at $168! He then explains the pricing and says he believes my items will fall in the $250 category. Trying to stay calm, I ask him why the minimum $168 price isn't listed on the website or why he or the person I spoke on the phone with couldn't mention that price, especially before it caused a lot of hassle for him and for me. He stated that they like to show up and see what needs to be taken before they give a price.......... I can't make this up. At this point I was tired of attempting to explain simple logic to him, told him I didn't want his service and he left. By now I had already determined that 1-800-GOT-JUNK was receiving a 1 star review on Yelp. Sadly, I'm not finished. Several minutes later, the employee that had called me the night before called me again and asked how the service was. I explained what had happened and explained that there should be a way to quote people before they arrive since I would never have paid $250 to move a mattress and box spring. He seemed surprised by the high quote and said he would call his boss then call me back in "a few minutes." I never received a call back. I then proceeded to put the bed back into my storage unit.. BTW, I got an instant quote from another company I found on google for $65 for both mattress parts BEFORE they arrived and it went perfectly. read more

GOT-RIPPED by GOT-JUNK. I booked online and followed all the steps to pricing by listing each piece of furniture I wanted picked up but finally hit a wall and saw they quote when they arrive. I talked with a fellow at GOT-JUNK who had my list in front of him to get a rough idea of the price so I would not waste their guy's time coming out and was told it looked like my order was a little over the $118 minimum, so I said no problem, send them out. Well, they arrived and were very polite and nice but also very quick to point out a price of nearly $500. I had 5 or 6 pieces of furniture!! I asked them, "what is considered a minimum pick-up for $118?" Their answer was "one of those apartment size refrigerators. What a joke, that would fit in my weekly trash can pick-up, and the guy on the phone surely saw I had more than one tiny refrigerator. I was stuck because two of the pieces I could not move by myself so I got ripped off $204 for TWO pieces of furniture that they will sell immediately. I took all the other furniture over to Goodwill and they took it all off my truck with smiles and thanked me and gave me a receipt to use for my taxes. Salvation Army will come out and pick up for free if you can plan it out a week ahead. I had to empty a storage unit and these guys knew they could rip me off and they did. I will NEVER use this company again and warn everyone who reads to steer clear of them. read more

After a job transfer and relocating out-of-state, a friend of mine rented his house until he got it sold. Upon return to Austin for closing on the sale of the house, my friend discovered that his renter had left a house full of trash and filth. So, while my friend was scheduling housecleaners and repair people to prep the house for sale, I called 1-800-GOT-JUNK and made arrangements for them to pick up the trash. Booking was a breeze and the booking agent was super friendly and accommodating; he had a truck out the next morning. Aaron and John from 1-800-GOT-JUNK were prompt, professional, and did a great job. They gave us an initial price quote, worked quickly, and did a thorough job of clean-up. The final price was comparable to the quote. Overall, my friend and I were very happy with the work Aaron and John did, and, ultimately, so were both realtors and the buyers. Personally, I would recommend 1-800-GOT-JUNK, as well as use them in the future should I need them. I think the price was worth not having the hassle of loading and unloading and then disposing of all that junk myself. read more

The ONLY reason I still use this service is because of an employee named Reggie. He is THE ONLY ONE who does not look as if he is on drugs he is ALWAYS so very polite and attentive to my wishes. He doesn't just haul stuff off and say have a great day. HE NEVER ASKS FOR A TIP LIKE ALL THE OTHERS. One of these men even said he would knock off money on my haul if I put money in his pocket THIS IS NOT HOW YOU RUN A BUISNESS. This is why I only deal with reggie. He helps it feel personal and professional. If you are sent any other employee then this man you are going to have a horrible experience. If I could tip more I would but I don't have enough money in the world to tip this man. I have used this company 6 times now and 4 of them were reggie the other two were just men. They are to pricey I will attest to that but if you have the good service it's worth it but if you don't get this man and his team mate well good luck. read more
