Used Chapparal moving to move in June from a 4 bedroom house we were renting into our new house we bought. My first time using movers so I was very nervous, but Chapparal moving was the only moving company that would give me a quote thru email after I filled out their questions from their website. Every other place would spam call you, but due to my work I can't sit on the phone and talk just to get a quote. SUPER fast responses, and good pricing. Didn't price gouge and the price the quoted was exactly what I paid. I even had to move up my moving date and they were so great about moving my reservation to accommodate. I think everything was done within 3 hours, and they even offered haul away service as well for 2 couches I didn't need anymore. I've moved quite a few times across the country. It's always been a pain. We just made a move half way across the country and we hired chaparral moving. They packed every single thing up in our home. Up until the day before our move you couldn't even tell we were moving-everything was still in its place. The mover arrived. They were fast, efficient, super careful and so positive. They had a good attitude and pushed themselves. a few days later, they unloaded everything in our new home in half a day and were friendly and polite the entire time. First off, the guys who actually drove the truck and moved our stuff were great. The company office staff however really let us down with the scheduling. I want to know the truth about delays, and they were not only 4 hours late, but they kept stringing me along with "just about 30 more minutes" over and over again. We hired a babysitter for those 4 hours they were supposed to be moving; money down the drain. Also, they didn't bring a sufficient sized truck, and I suspect they should have had a 3rd man. I was very clear about how much stuff we had, and how imperative it was to get out by the end of the day. They didn't have time to make a 2nd run (only 20 minutes to new location), and I had to hire someone else to finish the move the next day while new folks were moving in!!! Once again, much respect for the actual laborers, but we were really let down and stressed because of the delay. If they would have just been honest, I could have been making small runs for hours, or cancelled the babysitter instead of waiting for 4 hours. No bueno. read more

I found Chapparal by referral, after another company sent 3 guys to my home, told me it would take 11 HOURS to move my stuff (after their office manager quoted about 4, and we questioned them about this) and then went back into their truck and left for the day!!! WHAT?? So we were all ready to move that day and never got anywhere... I guess it depends on which guys they send, but my experience was OUTSTANDING with these guys... used Tony, Tom and John Paul to move my large house (mostly the large, heavy furniture) here in Leander, during the HEAT of the summer. These guys HUMPED IT, like I've never seen anyone else do! They were incredibly strong and dedicated and only took a 30-minute lunch, then were back at it! They got my stuff moved in about 6 hours, up and down stairs and into my storage unit... unbelievable! I'd have been DEAD if I tried to do the physical work these guys did.... I gave them a good tip and promised I'd write them an excellent review. Moving really sucks but having good people on your side makes all the difference. I think the first company's guys were just lowlifes, all of them looked like gang members (ex-cons?) covered in tattoos from head to toe. I highly recommend Chapparal Moving! read more

I was referred to Chapparal Moving and was given a verbal quote I asked for a " walk thru" and Tony said. "There will be no surprises ". My quote after the walk thru was almost 3x my original verbal quote. And this happened the night before my scheduled move. I tried to help the quote by offering to move all boxes my self. It only lowered the quote by a couple hundred dollars. This is horrible! He "Tony" and Chaparral Movers are definitely not a referral I would give! Ever! read more

Moving is never fun, but Chaparral Moving definitely made it less painful! They arrived on time, with adequate experienced staff, proper equipment, clean moving blankets and trucks, and a GREAT attitude. They moved furnishings from a 4 bedroom, 2 story house in San Antonio into a 10x30 storage unit in Cedar Park without damaging anything... AND for a very reasonable price!! I was amazed at the vision necessary to put that puzzle together, therefore I hired them again when it was time to relocate the furnishings into a new home. If I could give them zero stars I would. I used them in 2010 and I will never forget how terrible they are. They first gave me a quote for a long distance ( an hour) move. I accepted and paid. Two extremely unprofessional men showed up. They threw my belongings over the balcony, scratched up walls, quit in the middle and demanded more money. When I showed them out contract, they then screamed at my 8 year old daughter. Locked up their truck and the driver shouted, "I'm keeping your shit!" We had to call the police. I posted on Facebook about it and the owner called me and threatened to sue me! Really? We had to rent a U Haul and pack the rest and unload our things ourselves. The police made them deliver our furniture. Some broken. Biggest waste of 1500 ever. Rudest, unprofessional, crappiest, nightmare service ever! Total scam artists! read more

Tony, and his team where great! My boyfriend and I hired them for a job a few weeks ago. Tony came out to look at what he was in store for and quoted us a really good deal. This would not be an easy task due to all the items being on the third floor of an apartment building and some of the furniture could not be taken apart due to how old and fragile they were. The day of the move him and his team arrived to the apartment on time early in the morning. He remembered everything we discussed and asked which furniture could not be taken apart. I was very surprised by how vocal he was with his team which is how it should be. They all talked all the way through the job and gave each other direction along with what they where doing. I just thought to myself this is GREAT teamwork. All the guys where big and strong enough for the move and moved our heavy stuff with ease. All items which weren't in boxes where covered in blankets or plastic and carried with care. They had a huge trailer for all our stuff with plenty of space for more. I think he said something about being able to easily fit a 5-bedroom house in there. They got to the destination quickly and began unloading. They even rearranged some other heavy furniture for us at the new house to make room for the new items. They asked where things needed to go either on the first floor or second floor and always addressed me with respect. I'll definitely be hiring these guys next time we move. read more

At the recommendation of a friend, I used Chapparal for an in-town move between storage units. The contents were precious to me, things from my grandparents' house including a grand piano and other fragile antique furniture. Needless to say, no margin for error. Our crew, Tony, Jesse and Carlos, got to the storage location about 10 minutes ahead of our appointed time, called to let me know they were ready and waiting, and set to work immediately. They had everything carefully packed and loaded in under 30 minutes and they worked with equal care and focus at the new storage location. They did a great job, were very courteous and respectful, and it was a pleasure to watch such an experienced, high-functioning team do their thing. We moved from a 4200 square foot home to a 3700 square foot home. Chapparal did a great job with our belongings and we were amazed at how fast they got it done. We had made several moves in the past and this was the first time we used Chapparal. In comparison they were much more professional and friendly and handled our belongings with care. Holy moving, Batman! My moving nightmare turned into a moving rescue when I called Chaparral moving. I had seen their movers moving someone into a home near my work and had called to ask about availability on a Friday for the next day, Saturday, which happened to be the busiest weekend of the year. I was told they had a rescheduled move and had an opening. I had to check with the man who wears the pants first about pricing and we mis-communicated about who was hiring the movers. So here comes moving day and we have no movers which was totally our fault. I called Chaparral and Tony worked me in and magically fit all of the items I was taking to storage into their huge trailer. All of my stuff filled the entire trailer, which was by no means small. I said there was no way it would all fit into a 10x15 storage that I had reserved. Tony assured me with much confidence that he could make it fit. I admit, I was nervous, but once we got to storage, he literally worked a miracle and fit the furniture, plus boxes, of a 3 bedroom, 2 living room, house into a 10x15 storage and I still had some space left for odds and ends. WOW. I'm more than impressed with Chaparral Moving. They rescued us and had my stuff moved out just in time before my 2:00 PM deadline. Tony and his helper worked so quickly, efficiently and we super courteous and very pleasant. I would recommend them to anyone and use them again and again! I would like to send a warning to let everyone know that A1 Chaparral movers are not good to use. I had hired them to move my house a short distance. When Tony, the owner, arrived he was very rude. He started by saying that he had a bigger move to get to and that he had 3 guys instead of 2. So now the price was going to be $105 per hour instead of the agreed $80. I told him that I would rather stick to the agreed amount and he argued with me saying he was wasting his time moving my stuff and was very demeaning. Said, "I don't know what it is about you ** people that think you are all high and mighty, but typically when I arrive and have to change the price, then the people pay." and I'm sorry, I moved myself the day prior for 12 hours- I am not high and mighty and was just paying for a "professional" service to be done that had been set up two weeks prior with an agreed price. Anyway, he decided since I wasn't going to pay, that he would just leave. And he did. Apparently in the moving industry this is common practice with the crooked movers. So I would just like to get the word out, so others are not left high and dry like myself on moving day. read more

These have by far been the best movers I have ever experienced! They showed up on time, very courteous and careful of our items. We loaded a full 36' trailer and they did everything perfect! We have a super picky landlord and they made sure to take their time on every little turn and corner to ensure nothing was damaged at the property. Tony and his team are amazing. They came to my rescue when the first moving company didn't show up, and they were here within an hour of the call!! Tony, Anthony and Tom moved all my furniture into pods with in 2 hours!!!! The running joke was "Oh man I blinked" because all of a sudden a room was empty! If there was a zero I would give it that! I had a team of amateur movers-3 with 1 being his first day. They were paid by the hour and met me at the storage unit in Austin to move me to Buda. They decided to break at Bill Miller's after loading the truck at the storage unit on the way to Buda-I was keeping tabs on their truck and called the owner/manager letting her know I would not be paying for their break about 20 min. When they got to my home in Buda, they did not want to move the furniture to the 2nd floor and I had to be insisting they move things upstairs. They left the dolly at the Austin storage unit (not my fault! move that furniture-there's 3 of you!). They could not figure out how to move the refrigerator into my home and wanted to leave it in the garage. One of them-the newbie figured out they had to remove the refrigerator handle to get it inside. I had to keep asking them to lift the t.v. off the floor and take my office chair upstairs. It has taken me over a year to do a review because I did not want to be fuming about this as enough time has gone by to "cool down" from this experience. I felt like these movers were somebody's cousins or friends of friends sent over to do a move. Don't use this company! read more

I recently had a move scheduled with Chaparral Moving and Storage. They cancelled my first appointment at the last minute due to the possibility of rain in the forecast. My wife and I had already taken the day off work to make the move. They rescheduled me for Saturday morning. I called multiple times and when they were over 45 minutes late, they finally called and said they had double booked another move and would have to bump me to the evening. I waisted 2 hours sitting in my old house that could have been spent unpacking things I already moved myself. I went back for my 4:00 appointment and again they failed to show up! I had to book with another moving company for the following morning. This made me overstay my lease, miss a day of work, and lose most of the weekend I had set aside for moving and unpacking. They had no explanations, excuses or apologies. Don't ever book with Chaparral if you expect to move at any certain time or date. They also don't own box trucks. They just use a pick-up truck and trailer. When asked if they would wrap my furniture, they actually told me "no, it could damage the finish". Avoid this company if you can. read more
