We were helping my sister clean out her 2 car garage this past weekend. The garage was pretty full (about 80% of the stuff in there was junk saved for many years.) Set up an appointment online earlier in the week with 800-Got-Junk. We were given a start time between 12 and 2 for the crew to arrive. Prior to 12, James, made sure to call and let us know that the truck would be there closer to 2 as they were still working on a job elsewhere. He made a point to call again and let us know that they were further delayed and would be there by 2:45. The crew lead, Tommy, then called around 2:15 to let us know that they were 10 minutes out. This was the best communication I have had from any company in a long time. I fully understand that arrival times may slip and so appreciate the constant communication to let us know that we were not forgotten. Upon arrival, Tommy and Sammy walked the job with us and quoted us a price based on 1.5 to 1.75 truckloads and assured us that they would adjust down if it was less, or let us know well beforehand if they thought they would exceed the quote. They also said that they would call to have a second truck come out. The second truck, driven by James (General Manager of this location), arrived within 20 minutes and they were "off to the races." All of the junk was hauled into the trucks (1.5 truckloads, as quoted) and the guys swept out the garage and driveway. Start to finish was just under 2 hours! They even moved some heavy items, that were to remain, back into the garage for us. Tommy, Sammy, and James were all very professional, polite, clean, and a general pleasure to deal with. The pricing is definitely not cheap, but in this case, I felt was a great deal and saved us about a week's worth of trips to the dump and truck rentals! Well worth it! I hate it when a company coerces you into their service. This company refuses to give you a quote until they are on the premises. They charge by the amount of space you utilize in a truck but come in a smaller sized vehicle so your junk takes up almost the full space. It cost well over $500.00 to get rid of an old washer, dryer and stove. I utilized them because I was under time restraints but resented the whole entire process. Although they provide excellent pick up service, reliable, and on time, they PROMISED to provide us with documents for items they donated to various charities for us, so we can take tax deductions, on FIVE separate occasions they have failed to do so. I have called their Customer Service dept THREE TIMES in the past 30 days, and they always promise to follow up. No action at all from their company to deliver documents. I contacted this company to pick up a bed in a second story bedroom and one of the workers thought that swinging the bed out of the second story window was a great idea and released one of our screens which fell to the ground. We did not authorize or ask them to remove screens, it was a pretty stupid move. We declined the service, since they also wanted about double of the original estimate. They did not recover or reinstall the screen but thankfully we were able to retrieve and fix it. I called to complain and was told James, a supervisor, would call us. No call. I called again this week to ask to be contacted and again, no call. This franchise appears to be flakey and unreliable, not to mention unprofessional. Pros - the guys that came were great at calling to communicate their arrival time. They were polite, friendly and did a great job removing my small fridge and large rear-projector TV. After they moved the items, they cleaned up not only that area of my yard, but also the path they used to their truck. There were leaves and such not related to the move that they swept up. I really appreciated that. They also asked if there was anything else I needed moved or lifted. Very nice guys. The only con was the price - $258. It's based on the amount of space the items take in the truck. They said they can fit 8 fridges in a truck, so my one small fridge was 1/8 and the TV another 1/8th. I'm not sure that was an accurate measurement. I think $200 would have been more than fair. But, I wanted the stuff gone, so I paid. Also, they will move the stuff for the same price from inside your home or garage. Mine was a bit easier, because it was already out by the driveway. They accept cash, credit card or check. Was able to bargain down to $250 and they took it away, but it was all very deceptive and I still feel ripped off, but I was moving and had to get rid of it. I should have just taken an ax to it. Few days later and I have 2 small exercise bike like things and cardboard / trash type stuff. They quoted 1/4 to 1/3rd. I looked and ... 1/4 seemed a tiny bit over. They did the work and cleaned up after themselves. Stated it was a 1/3rd load. First guys got a $70 dollar tip. Second set got nothing. It is all about who they send. read more

Called them because my usual hauler was unavailable and these guys had a convenient way to schedule on line. When they arrived they quoted me $400 to remove a bed, one recliner chair and a 4' x 3' x 1.5' cabinet. They said it was 1/4 load. My guess is that their truck is at lest 600 to 700 cubic feet in capacity and my load was 100 cubic feet. That's not 1/4 of the truck (which by the way was already at near capacity. I had no choice but to agree since we had not other options because we were moving. While they were there, they knocked off the protective covering in the apartment elevator. Said they'd come back to put it back on after they loaded the truck. Instead, they just left and got me in hot water with the apartment manager. My guess is that the franchise runs on bait and switch. They get to your place and assess how desperate you might be and then quote you a price. The drivers probably get a piece of what they sell. They get good reviews - probably from people who don't have a lot of experience with haulers. This was my first and last time to use 1-800-GOT-JUNK. read more

The whole process was SO easy and seamless! James was helpful, thorough, and even volunteered to do extra things like carry down a glass table top to my garage and clean up the areas they cleared. They were also lightning fast - it barely put a dent into my day to haul away my junk! They took an old couch, miscellaneous items, and they even took clothes donations! They will send me tax deduction paperwork for my donations. I didn't even realize they did that! What a wave of relief to look at my garage and not be inundated by the task at hand - what I have now is manageable, and I am no longer overwhelmed. I will be honest, I was hesitant about booking the appointment after reading some of the reviews about the pricing. But, I think the whole thing was reasonably priced given what they do with the stuff they collect. Did you know that they try to keep upwards of 80% of what they haul away from going to a landfill? They upcycle as much as they can and, in doing so, they end up taking everyone's junk to at least 3-5 locations. For instance, electronics go to recyclers who break down the plastics, metals, glass, et cetera to be reused in future manufacturing. I think it's really cool that they take the environmental impact of our junk into account. So, for the complexity of this, I think the price is justified. So you can gauge the pricing, I filled "half a truck load" with a sectional sofa (seated 5-6) and all its cushions, 7 dining chairs, approximately 15 large boxes, and some bulky miscellaneous items. When they left, it honestly looked like I filled up the entire truck. I highly recommend this company, and I will definitely use them again in the future. On service, I'm a stickler you might say...and these guys were terrific. They were within their timeframe, and I made a neat pile (an upholstered chair, a 40" TV, a small microwave, some misc. blinds and some poles) for them...and let them use my dolly for the TV (it WAS heavy)... However... $289.00 to haul that small amount away? SERIOUSLY? I could have done what any other yahoo in my neighborhood would have...set it on the side of the street (but I don't want to subject my neighbors to trash...Free stuff, yes...trash, no). As for booking online for $10 off....so glad that was there as to not break the bank. I've read every other review about this company and thought "Am I being too harsh on them," but thought about the amount of junk I had and how much they charged me....Heck no! if you've read my review of heloh locksmiths, then you might recall me mentioning a door installation. long story short, we decided not to pay Home Depot an extra $75 to haul away our old french doors... so a month post-installation, there they still sat. on our patio. looking stupid and trashy. pissing me off every morning when i left for work, and every afternoon when i arrived home. further pissing me off was the huge sectional sofa wrapped in plastic - also on our patio. the plan for the couches was to donate them, but due to a scratch on one corner they were rejected by everyone we called out. really, someone sitting on a ten year old futon would turn their nose up at a $2000 microsuede sectional in perfect condition, because oh, it has a fucking cat scratch on one easily hidden corner? REALLY? whatever. so then the plan became to schedule a city pickup and have the couches and the doors hauled off for free, but i don't know, perhaps it was the mimosas talking that saturday morning, but i started looking around our property and garage: two old rained on punching bags tucked between the garage and the fence two old tube tvs, one in the garage, one with the punching bags some old shit, i don't even remember anymore because i haven't had to look at it in two months the point is, in a fit of pique, i started looking up haul away services. the city has a five item limit, four of which would be taken by the couches and doors, and we had a lot of shit that needed to gtfo. after a few minutes of mimosa-fueled searching and speaking to companies that, i don't know, just felt wrong, i landed on 1800gotjunk. called. "we can be there tomorrow morning. you'll pay by the space on the truck you use, and based on the items you've indicated, you'll need about a quarter. here's the cost.' GREAT. booked. hauled the couches to the curb to make it easier. now, at first i was thinking, "i'll just have them haul away the tvs and punching bags and doors and couches,' but by the time they got here (and since the couches disappeared in the middle of the night, freeing up space on the truck, hooray), i'd mentally disposed of everything along the side of the house, and a bunch of additional shit in the garage, and after i told them 'yep, all done,' i realized, 'wait, there's shit along the back side of the house, take that too!' they good-naturedly did. they arrived in a truck about a quarter full, and by the time we were done with them, the truck was full to the brim. they charged the original quote - for a quarter, and hopefully didn't get in trouble. further: they were on time they were friendly and gregarious they were fucking FAST - in and out in 45 minutes they were not cheap, but $300 to get rid of shit i've been looking at in disgust and disdain for upwards of three years? sign me up. anyway, that's that. happy customer, clean property. no muss, no fuss. awesome. read more

I have been moving and trying for Months to give away my furniture and refrigerator as we do not need two of everything. No one would take anything as they did not want to pick it up and I could not deliver. I was disappointed by several big name donation places, being on a time limit to get the furniture out. as a last resort I called 1-800-got Junk. I was able to schedule an appointment online at a time that was convenient to me. The personnel were informative, kind, asked to come early on the appointment day. I had to pay to have the items removed but the pricing was fair for the work they did. The drivers were efficient, the appointment transpired as advertised. They removed the furniture and the huge refrigerator from a very tight place. They were there maybe half an hour to 40 minutes. Quick and efficient. I will always use 1-800-Got-Junk in the future they will be my only company to call to dispose of large items. Now I can sweep the floor, lock the door and turn in the keys. Awesome. In preparation for our big Thanksgiving gathering we decided to spruce up our backyard by getting new sod and plants. So we hired a longtime family friend that has been a landscaper for over 30 years to help us out. As it turns out he wasn't much help as he over fertilized the soil and all of the sod died a very speedy death!! What this meant was 2 weeks before Thanksgiving we had to remove all the sod and a bunch of the soil, and put in new sod (this time WITHOUT the help of the longtime family friend). So what does this have to do with 1-800-GOT-JUNK you may ask. . .well. . .we ended up having approximately TWO TONS of bagged up, dead, rotted, smelly sod!!. In addition, we had two wooden pallets from both deliveries of sod, bags of over-fertilized dirt and a crap-load of other yard waste!! And with only a few days left until Thanksgiving we needed to get rid of it FAST! I didn't have time to get a dumpster delivered and carted away (plus we would have had to fill it up ourselves) so I called the City of Long Beach and they have a 35 bag, 40 pound per bag limit, so that wasn't going to work either. I had heard radio ads for 1-800-GOT-JUNK and thought what the heck! I didn't care how much it cost at that point, I just needed it all GONE! I logged onto their site for same day pick-up and was pleasantly surprised that by booking the same day I got a $10 discount. So I set up the pick-up and Jim and Brandon called to give me a time (which by the way was within a half hour of their call because they had a cancellation) and showed up EXACTLY when they said they would!! They looked at what I had in my driveway (yes, the entire driveway was COMPLETELY filled with lawn trash bags) and gave me an up-front price. I was sure to tell them that the bags were REALLY heavy as they were filled with my soggy sod, but they still gave me the price of regular miscellaneous trash, so I said YES YES YES!!! Within about 45 minutes ALL my bags were in their truck (along with other stuff I pointed out at the last minute on the side of my house) and they even cleaned up the driveway! I went out to pay them and they mentioned that the bags were REALLY heavy (I guess they didn't believe me. . .LOL) and I should have been charged the higher price based upon the weight BUT they would honor their up-front estimate of $385.00. . .YAY!!! It ended up costing FAR less than a dumpster would have cost PLUS it saved our backs by not having to fill the dumpster up AND we didn't even have to clean up afterwards!! I would HIGHLY recommend 1-800-GOT-JUNK and would also HIGHLY recommend our team, Jim and Brandon!!! They showed up exactly when they said they would, were highly professional and pleasant, made short work of taking all of our JUNK and even cleaned up when they were done!!! I never thought I would have had such a great experience with junk removal! James called me earlier in the day that I was scheduled for pick up to let me know they were on their way, and was just amazingly nice and helpful on the phone. (I actually realized I had a voicemail from him as he had called me the day before - James, if you're reading this, sorry I missed your call!!) After they arrived and I got the estimate, they got to work. I didn't have too much to move, but it was still big, bulky heavy stuff, like a queen size mattress and the bed to go with it. Not only were they courteous and careful to not damage anything, they were also kind enough to take off their shoes when they came into my apartment. I've never had any other movers offer to do that! To add to a growing list of reasons why these guys were awesome, I had some friends over at the time to adopt some of my houseplants, and there was one planter that we just couldn't move by ourselves. James saved us and loaded it into my friend's car without any extra charge. After all was said and done (and they were done quick), I paid for everything and thanked them for coming over and being so awesome. James explained that they would send me a slip for everything that got donated after the fact, which is one of the reasons I chose this place - they will recycle and donate everything they can. I hired them to remove an old bench press and LAT pull down machine. The two gentlemen that came to pick up the items were prompt,courteous, not to mention patient and diligent with getting the items up from my basement. It was not a particularly easy job as there was some additional disassembly involved in order to get the LAT pull down through rear door. Sept 16 they came over and removed garbage from our FLORAL PARK home. In doing so they scratched my car a 2019 Traverse.They were immediately notified and there response was that they would get back to me.A couple of days later he was still looking into which insurance policy he was going to use.Going forward he needed an estimate for the damage. After receiving 3 estimates that I provided he wanted to know if he could take my car to be fixed. I told him that that wasn't going to be an option.Now 11 days later Brian from 1800 JUNK says that he spoke to his men and they deny doing any damage.I have spoken to customer service many times without any luck.This company is not to be trusted, he lied about speaking to the men 11 days later.Why would you contact your insurance if you had any idea of it not being your fault.Do your research before using this person.
