Horrible experience! Do not believe one single word on their website about repurposing or recycling or donating items. it's ALL LIES. We hired them to take away gently used furniture and household items---all in excellent condition (this was an estate clean out of our childhood home); I called twice to confirm "this isn't junk; it should be delivered to a donation site; just want to confirm that your website says that you work with these charities". They reassured me both times and confirmed it would be donated/recycled/repurposed. the website leads you to believe that they have arrangements with several charities. The men showed up in a small truck (way too small for what we needed), already half filled with absolute garbage from several pick ups before ours. I watched in horror as my recently deceased father's belongings and the contents of our childhood home were chopped up with a sledge hammer and crammed into the truck so it would fit. all of his belongings were destroyed and sent to a landfill somewhere. And then the company had the audacity to charge us over $1000 to take it away. we expected to pay to have the items taken to charity, not to be taken to a dump. If you only have 100% pure garbage and don't care about the stuff and want to get rid of useless items that are going to the landfill, this company will suit your needs. If you have anything that could be donated to charity or reused or repurposed --DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY!!! The website is ALL LIES. I was heartbroken today knowing that a house full of perfectly good items that could have gone to charity or been donated to the poor were destroyed unnecessarily. I will say that one of the gentleman that came was lovely. Very professional, sweet and kind hearted. I believe his name was Elijah, saw me crying and actually offered me a hug he felt so bad; and was so apologetic saying that none of this was communicated to their team. read more

Don't use this company. 1-800-GET-SCAMMED I called to have a Queen size box spring and mattress picked up. Was told they were running a special if I set the appointment on that day for $99.00 for BOTH the box spring and mattress. When the drivers got there, they said, "we don't give quotes over the phone". He told me that price was for a TWIN size even though I specifically said Queen size. Unfortunately, this HAD to go today as a hospital bed was coming in for an elderly person in the next hour. At the end of the day, the cost was $358.00. Called to discuss the discrepancy and was told I would get a call back from the corporate office. NO call back. Should be easy enough for them to research this as they say "these calls are recorded". Extremely unprofessional and dishonest, I'm shocked to receive such bad service from a company like this. They waisted my time back and forth for 3 days and then at the last minute tried to get me to pay 4 freakin times the quoted price we agreed on, with the excuse they used twice that "they didn't realize what it'll actually cost" and that's after sending them pictures and all. Seems like they just agree on a low price to lure you in and try to make a sale and then at the last minute when you have everything set up for the pickup time slot given that day, I call the manager why they didn't show up yet they tell me "they're putting a rush on it" after waiting another hour they tell me "sorry we cant come today and can only come back next week if you agree to pay for the job instead of 2k, 8k!" read more

DO NOT WASTE YOUR MONEY! We called this company to remove a variety of items from our home. Some pieces were in like new condition. They assured us that those items would be donated. The men that arrived were polite and friendly. When they removed the furniture they didn't put anything down to protect the floor and scratched our brand new hardwood floors. In addition, we were charged for 3/4 truckload when in reality our stuff didn't fill 1/4 of the truck. They certainly don't donate the furniture because they tossed everything in the truck and broke it. I called and complained and received a partial refund. I still overpaid. I was so happy with this service. Hassle and stress free. The guys arrived early, they were professional and friendly, discussed the price with me beforehand and asked if I agreed, which I did. Unfortunately I can not give a review of their services because I opted not to use this company due to their extremely overpriced rates. A pair of gentlemen came to my house to give an estimate for removal of some lumber, an old grill, and some broken lawn chairs. I was told it would be $700 and I politely declined. They said if I wanted they could take just the grill and lawn chairs for $400 which was less concerning for me than the lumber. All for a job I ended up doing by myself and bringing to the dump in just under 2 hours. read more

DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY if you want to have a good experience. I used them to take down a shed since they said this is a service they offer and I could not be more disappointing with the result. They created a huge mess since it was just a couple guys using sledge hammers to break it in to a million pieces. They did not clean up the mess and left glass and sharp pieces of wood all over my property. My dog unfortunately stepped on the glass since I did not see the mess right away. When I shared this feedback with the branch manager, Justin, he could not have acted less professionally. He was more concerned with justifying their absurd pricing (they charged me for 2 trucks even though it was definitely not 2 full trucks). I was pleased with the support I received from Hilary who works in their corporate customer service department. She was appalled at what transpired and did her best to get to a resolution. We moved out of our Hamilton, NJ home on a Friday. Most of the items placed on the curb to be picked up were taken by scavengers and the township on Saturday morning. Three items were left; a couch, a matching chair and a flimsy credenza. We contacted 1-800-GOT-JUNK to pick these items up and they charged us $367.00. Had I been able to stay on in the area I could have loaded them in my short-bed truck by myself and disposed of them! The minimum fee to just show up is $185.00! I feel this company takes advantage of people who need help. Never, ever, contact them for a job. I would hire two guys on the corner for $50.00 each, rent a $75.00 truck from Home Depot and pay the local dump $25.00 before I would call them again!!!! read more

Had a hot tub removed last week by this company. Not only did they not clean up the mess of all the pieces I had to call them back to take the top of the hot tub. Then noticed a few days later that my entire driveway is complete chipped and ruined as they sawed the hot tub in my driveway and cut right through the pavement. Not only did I pay $400 for the job now I have to pay about $500+ to get my driveway fixed. Do all you can to avoid this one as they'll cause you more money and heartache than your junk is actually worth to begin with!! read more

They called and gave me a 1/2 hour window, then called again to say they would be a little late because of inclement weather. They were maybe 10 minutes later than originally promised. No big deal at all. Their quoted price was reasonable considering that they had a lot of difficulty removing a large sofa bed from an upstairs room. The hallway is very tight. I was desperate. The closing on on my house was the next day and the new owners wanted to do a walk through the night before. I had to have everything cleared out and I had a lot of stuff that I wasn't taking with me. The hauler I hired was giving me the run around and I called 1-800 junk. They guaranteed they would be there in the afternoon. I needed it finished by 5 pm so I could vacuum the house and be ready when the new owners would be there at 6 PM. They started at 2:30. It was a very hot day but they hustled. They took away a truck load and came back for another truck load and were done by 5 PM. They did some damage to the house but the company made good on it by offering a discount. I had to point it out to the new owners. That's the only reason I didn't give them 5 stars. They should have removed the legs on the sofa before trying to force it up the stairs. They came through and that was what counted. read more

1-800-GOT-JUNK does not have a transparent pricing structure! For my area code I was quoted a full truck load was $777 (tax included). After showing the crew the objects to be removed from a home, I was told that it could be close to two truck loads. OK in my mind that's $777 X 2 = $1,554. It turned out to be 2.25 truck loads. So I'm calculating the 2 trucks at $1,554 + $194 (for the 25% of the 777) for a total of $1,748. I get handed a bill for $1,926! The quarter truck load was priced at $372 and not the $194 I assumed. I was never told this when I scheduled the order or when the crew came and gave me the "Free" estimate. I was only told the full truck price and it could be close to two truck loads. I DO NOT RECOMMEND THIS LOCATION FOR YOUR NEEDS!!!! The 2 workers came unprepared, had to use what I had at my home for hauling things from my yard to their truck. They did not clean up as noted on the website and the service provided. The workers were in their phone and not paying attention to what was needed to be done. I called their office 609-529-1918 and all I received was "I am sorry and there is nothing we can do now that the job is done." No compensation or $ back. Such POOR CUSTOMER SERVICE!!!!! They even gave an excuse as to why the workers were in their phone. It was to keep in contact with the office. Phones should be kept in the vehicle and respond when they are done work. I can see checking in when onsite and after the work is complete to check in again and not while working on site. Shame on me for using this service but NEVER AGAIN!!!! After posting my review - John from the office called my other half asking him to have me remove the review. REALLY!!!! Instead of handling the situation when I called they now want to work with us and try to correct this problem. Too late and now Shame on you for your poor customer service. read more

Should have known not to call this place after hearing all their ads on the radio. I suspected they would pass their enormous marketing budget onto their customers and that's apparently what they do. It's like the pillow guy that sells a $10 pillow to his suckers, i mean customers, for $50. Why so much ? Marketing. It costs a good coin to get your ads heard one/two times an hour on a 50k watt radio station in NYC. I generally stay away from such placed for that reason. Not only that, I like to punish advertisers that constantly interrupt my radio listening experience with their obnoxious advertisements by not buying their products. It's my own way of protesting. This one time I made an exception So anyway I called to get a 32" tube TV taken a way. This sucker has to weigh a good 150 pounds and I have a bad knee so I did a google search and found these guys. Skeptical, like I said above, I called anyway. Rep would not give me a firm price even though I offered to email a picture and/or give the exact brand and model number so they could look up the specs (weight/size, etc) which made me even more skeptical. She said they would come out and look and give me a price and if I didn't like it I could decline (Why waste your time and mine?). She also said they charge by square footage, not weight. Okay I thought, This TV only takes up a few square feet so it shouldn't be too much, right ? So they arrive and quote me north of $200. I tell him to get bent and that we're not even in the same zip code. I was willing to go $50 which I think is reasonable. Then he asks me if I have more TVs. I tell him yeah but they're smaller and I can take care of those. He comes back and says he can take all of them for around $200 ( I forget the price, by then I was annoyed by the initial price so I was tuning out) ..I tell him no thanks. I'll find a local guys $50 is reasonable. $200 is pure ripoff territory. Don't support this company's enormous advertising budget (with stupid whistling jingle) that they pass on to you by jacking up their prices. read more

My parents live in the Flemington area and I flew in from FL to help get rid of a lot of stuff they have collected over the years. I did these guys a favor by moving everything into one spot so they can easily remove it. Had an appointment for Saturday, they showed up late (not a problem) but then showed up with a 3/4 full truck so they could not take all of my stuff. So we scheduled appointment number 2 on Monday first appointment...which then got changed to Tuesday, first appointment. I get a call Tuesday (5/2) morning that they are running late from a previous job (which i don't understand because I'm first...right?). OK..now my appointment gets pushed back a few hours, then a few more and now I get a call at 2:30 saying we MAY be able to make it today but if not today, we'll have to reschedule. I'M FIRST ON YOUR LIST FOR TODAY!!!! HOW IS THAT POSSIBLE? I can understand that things happen while you're performing your job (takes longer, people get hurt...these are the actual things told to me on the phone)...but how do you make someone take time off from their job to wait for you and then expect them to do it again and again to work around your schedule. This service (maybe just from this location) is AWFUL and is only good if you don't have a job and you just sit around all day in your home. Called them, & after giving phone rep EXACT dimensions of the stuff I needed hauled away (huge console tv, smaller tv, table top, table base, 2 monitors), I was quoted $140 + tv disposal fees + tax. Upon arrival, the guys looked at my stuff & quoted me $278 + fees/tax. Dimensions of items hadn't changed so when I said no, one of the guys said he`d call his boss to try to get a better price. Absolute Lifesavers. I had a huge wraparound sleeper sofa that my dog chewed a hole in, and every time I looked at it it caused me major stress. I originally wanted to donate, but once it was ruined I had to just get rid of it. I800gotjunk came the next morning, phoned me in advance, were courteous and uniformed and fast. I was expecting to pay an arm and a leg, literally, as in they would also be leaving with my limbs. I got the quote up front and thought the price was reasonable. I was worried they would be adding some sort of nonsense "we had to walk up three steps" charge or the "we had to park across the street" fee, but the price they quoted me was the price I paid. (As you can tell, I have PTSD from my last moving experience.) It's not cheap, certainly not as cheap as getting your buddies to do it, but even after the item is moved, the question remains what do you do with it? I had schedule for these guys to come Sunday morning between 830-1030....at 1030 am I get a call cancelling, stating the recycling center is full....why did they wait so late to tell me??? So they reschedule for Tuesday between 12-2.....at 330, they showed up and took my stuff....only reason I gave them 2 stars is because the guys who took the junk were very kind, remorseful about being late, and extremely professional....call a local junk guy to grab ur stuff, this company is NOT worth the headache and the lack of professionalism read more

I was hesitant at first to make an appointment with 1800gotjunk, but when I read in their website that they would do the manual labor I decided to go ahead and book it. I booked the time slot of 12:30-2:30pm. The first call, they had said they are running a little late, about half hour. Second call, they said they were going to stop at another job site BUT it was probably just an estimate so theyll arrive at 3:30. Long story short, they arrived 3 hours late, I had to call several times to ask how long until they get here, and I kept getting "we will be there in 20 mins." or they were called to another job site that was on the way to my house! My new furniture had already arrived, I had no choice but to call a friend to help me take out what I needed to junk. My whole day was wasted from waiting. The best was the when I was given the price! Next time I will just rent a dumpster and hire friends, I would probably still have saved money and time! read more
