I would not recommend freehold movers they damaged my furniture broke my leg to my couch and made me pay to repair it !!!!!

Wow! I can't recommend Freehold Movers enough. They are fast, organized, professional, clean and helpful. Our family moved two times in the past two years. Each time Freehold movers came out for a quote, booked our packing sessions and moving date. Offered suggestions and calmed the craziness for each move. From the moment I called to schedule the estimate I was pleased. This family run business is excellent. The company called to confirm my estimate time, and the owner came and was prompt. Their estimate was HALF of the others I got and because of their communication and professionalism in the estimate process, I booked. They were in CONSTANT communication with me. They confirmed the move a week and a half before the date, then again three days before. The crew of 4 men showed up on time and were so respectful of both me and my belongings. They loaded the truck quickly and efficiently, broke NOTHING, and were patient during the 1.5 hour layover I had because of the wait for my closing on my purchase. They unloaded quickly and asked me where I wanted every piece of furniture and box. VERY respectful. I would HIGHLY recommend and will DEF use them again. read more

Not exactly Richie. Your men had an attitude from the moment they walked into the home. I had a few closets to empty out which would not have impacted the move. As a matter of fact, we would move it ourselves. The other two bedrooms rooms were ready, as well as the furniture in the living room, small office, dining room and kitchen. Originally the basement was part of the plan but we emptied that ourselves. I also spoke to you while your men were there and you didn't want to hear what I had to say. Moving is very stressful & speaking to you at that moment while you tell me you're not moving me was unconscionable. After you left, I now had to scramble for new movers at the last minute and because of that I had to stay an extra two days and the landlord charged me. read more

Freehold Movers just did a 2-stage move for us from an apartment (an interim stop after selling our home) to our new retirement home. This involved moving furniture and cartons from the apartment building on the first day and furniture from storage onthe second day. They could not have been more professional, courteous and genuinely nice. They showed great care with all of our things and patience as we decided on placement of furniture, even when I changed my mind and asked to move something. They truly helped set up our new home! If you EVER need movers, do not look any further! These guys are amazing! They had my apartment loaded on the truck, stopped at storage and then unloaded at the house in 2 hours!!! They gave us a 2 hour window for a quote (10-12). No call, no show, just a vague voicemail at 130 (hour and a half after the end of their window) that their estimator had an issue. That's no excuse for not calling during the window to tell us there is an issue. read more

We used Freehold Movers for a 10 mile move,we downsized from a very large house to an adult community, we had a huge amount of stuff.The 6 man team was great.The estimate was very close to actual just about one hour over,considering how much stuff we had that was amazing.Nothing was damaged or dinged and the team took the time to reposition some furniture I thought would fit in one room but didn't look so good. One of the worst experiences I've ever had... A couple years ago we were building a house, and for a couple months we stored all our belongings in a friend's walkout basement while transitioning from small rental into new home. Freehold movers came with around 4 people, and immediately could feel this unwanted tension in the air. Mind you this is our moving day and we were beyond excited. Thus far around 50% of the truck was filled simply from all my stuff stored from the walk-out basement straight into the truck. The leader of the group came up to me and started saying how it was a "bigger job" and all this nonsense than what was described on the phone. He was extremely rude to the point I didn't want this to be my experience moving into my brand-new house as it's supposed to be a very exciting time. He actually unpacked the truck with over 50% of the items and I was left to find someone else last second. Dealing with Freehold Movers has been a nightmare! The owner Ritchie came out to us a few months ago for an estimate. We told him that we need to dispose of some of our furnishings on the day of the move. He said he will have a moving truck and a half truck come to take the items we weren't moving into our new home. On the day of the move 4 guys come with a mid- sized truck and a van. What Ritchie told us would be a 7-8 move ended up being 13 hours! The movers had to go back and forth to the two houses since there was not enough room in the truck. They commingled the furniture to be disposed of with our furniture that was supposed to end up in our new home. They brought in a rolled up carpet which I assumed was my living room area rug (that could not be rolled out at that time) but realized less than an hour after they left that it was the rug that was supposed to be disposed of. I left numerous messages on their voicemail that night and the following days and emailed them as well. They didn't return my phone call until 3 days later and told me that it was too late - the rug was taken to the Monmouth County dump! I told the office worker that someone better get it back. Ritchie than called me and my husband and screamed at us for a half an hour using every 4 letter word imaginable and tried to intimidate us by saying that he was Brooklyn and blamed us! My husband told him that if he didn't get the rug back to us we were stopping payment. He threatened to sue us. We stopped payment and I then a phone call that they went to get the rug. An office worker then called me to tell me they were sending it out for cleaning and will give it back to us when ready only if we pay for the move in cash and pay $50 for the stopped payment. I told her that I will pay for the move when I get the rug back in the same condition it left my house. Then Ritchie's wife Maria calls me two days later and tells me it will take a week for the cleaning and that I will get the rug only when I pay for the move in cash, the $50 and they will split the cleaning bill with me! I told her that I will pay for the move and nothing else. We waited 3 weeks for a phone call saying they will "drop off" the rug. They came today and refused to let us examine the rug in our garage. Ritchie called me and told me that he he doesn't trust me and told his movers to not let me see the rug rolled out in my garage and told them to leave with my rug. As soon as they left we went to the police department to file a criminal complaint against him for theft. This is not to say there were not other problems with the move. His estimate was a joke as the final bill was almost double the amount quoted, they damaged a wall in my new home and chipped my grand piano in 3 places. I would never recommend freehold movers to anyone and I strongly suggest that you never use them or recommend them to anyone. read more

I hired Freehold Movers in January based on the recommendation of a co-worker and I unfortunately wasn't happy. When Rick came to assess our condo to see how much time/man power he would need, he couldn't have been nicer. However, when the younger guys came to do the job, a couple of them were grumbling about the large about of "$!@#" we had in our basement storage area. I found this to be extremely unprofessional and rude, especially since Rick had already scouted out our condo and they should have known how much we had. My husband and I were extremely careful to box everything up properly and have it taped and labeled so as to make their job easier. Another thing that really irked me was that when they moved a heavy dresser up the stairs into our new home, they dropped it, ruining the new wood floors in the process. When doing the final walk-through and my husband and I showed the resulting 5-inch long scratch on our floor, the reply was "Well, you already got a good price so we can't take anything off for that." I was appalled. They were the ones who quoted the "good price" to begin with! I think any reputable company would and should have given a discount for their error. Later on, we realized that the dressed drawer was broken and when I called to complain, the woman who answered told me that she would call back to get a repair guy out to look at it. Never happened and I gave up pressing the issue. Please use caution when using these guys. They may have been great in other jobs and I admit that their prices are decent, but watch them like hawks if you choose to go with them. read more

BEWARE THEY ARE UNINSURED!!!! After suffering thru the loss of my first floor, due to flooding from Sandy; I hired Freehold Movers to return my salvaged furniture and possessions to our home. After 15 months and tens of thousands of dollars, out of pocket, Freehold Movers caused THOUSANDS of dollars in damage to our home! Only to find Freehold Movers are UNINSURED!!! Not only that WILL NOT make good on the damages they caused!! Save yourself headaches and heartaches DO NOT hire this company! I would have NEVER have hired someone WITHOUT INSURANCE !!! We just used Freehold Movers last week for a whole house move and they were amazing! The 4 man crew showed up on time and got right to work, no slacking at all, these guys were constantly moving. We were in a 2 floor condo with a small spiral staircase and many items had to be hoisted over a balcony to get them out and these guys handled it like pros. They were also very personable and friendly, and treated our things with the same care that we would. Our original estimate was for 8 1/2 hours and these guys finished in 5!! We couldn't have been more impressed or happy with their service, and will absolutely recommend them to anyone that asks and would definitely use them again in the future! read more

We arranged for Freehold Movers to move things from our house to a storage unit. The date was arranged a week in advance. I called on the day that they were scheduled to come to confirm a time, and the person who answered said that they were not able to come that day, and in fact could not come any day. She said a truck had broken down, and they were overbooked. Even though this was a small job, it is not a good way to treat customers. We rented a U-Haul and did the job ourselves. I will tell everyone I know not to use these movers. read more

Worst moving company ever. I scheduled an estimate for moving on certain dates. Called to confirm after the estimate and my moving dates had been given away. The dates had been given away even before the company came to do the estimate but this was not mentioned at the time. When I called about this, the receptionist hung up on me. We have used Freehold Movers twice. The first time we used them we requested 4 men. Only 3 men showed up. We were lucky that the men that did show up were extremely hardworking and professional and they did a great job. The second time we used the company - AGAIN - they confirmed that they were going to send 4 men, and only 3 showed up. So of course I was annoyed about that but tried to give them the benefit of the doubt. I guess it all depends on the crew that you get because this time some of the men were very slow moving. The move took very long, almost double the time of the last time we moved and it was the same amount of belongings. Also, one of the men fell in the home we were selling and put a hole in the wall. Of course we were concerned with his safety first, but he said he was fine. I wanted to call the owner/management to advise them of the issue but NO ONE is available on the weekends. And then men would not give me anyone's number but the main line. So now we had a huge hole in our wall. I called and left multiple voicemails. I then called again Monday afternoon and they didn't seem apologetic at all. Still waiting for reimbursement on the cost to fix the damaged hole in my wall. It's a shame because the first time we used this company they were great. I guess it depends on the crew that you get. MAKE SURE YOU CONFIRM WITH THEM MUTLIPLE TIME HOW MANY MEN THEY ARE SENDING. ALSO, IF YOU HAVE ANY ISSUES OVER THE WEEKEND DON'T EXPECT TO BE ABLE TO SPEAK TO ANYONE FROM THE COMPANY UNTIL MONDAY - VERY UNPROFESSIONAL. WOULD NOT RECOMMEND. read more
