As a kid, I was always particularly good at the preschool clean up game. With every ring I hooped around my toddler arm, I sung along to the clean up song. Once the chest was filled with planes, trains, dolls and the mean kid's shoes, I'd relish in all the tidy fun. These days aren't too different from pre-k. I can be found helping Yelp CM's picking up party plates, half-eaten cupcakes, beer bottles, wet napkins and all sorts of otherworldly remains from good times had. This past weekend, Orlando happened to experience monsoon-like conditions during the largest outdoor Yelp event and with the buckets of rain came trash bins over-flooding with composted debris. That's right, soggy half-eaten cupcakes, mushy ground beef, soaked tortillas, sponge-like popcorn and then some. Needless to say, trash duty was the last thing I wanted to deal with. So, I scoured the web for some brave soul to redeem the Yelp team from such a gross chore. I found Paul, owner of 1-888-CleanUp, and he sent his team right over. They pulled up along the street with heavy duty trucks and proceeded to haul our foul remains into the bed of their massive rig. Greetings Mr. Karas, This email is in reference to the work crew of three that just finished the tree removal job at my house at the above subject address. The reason I chose your company over others is because of your more than reasonable prices, and you got a crew out the same day I called. This is the first and only email I've ever sent to comment on a business work crew. However, I feel that this is information you should know. Your crew arrived with all their equipment very shortly after my call to you. I watched them from a safe distance not expecting to be so absolutely impressed. Their every move worked in sync with one another with very deliberate cautious steps throughout the entire procedure. They piece by piece carved away chunks of the enormous tree as smooth as clockwork. If you've never watched this crew of three work together, it's amazing. This morning I looked at that tree hating it for the damage it was causing my deck roof, the deck itself, also, my fence and yard. Now, as I look at that area, all there is to look at is smoothed over land! I'm amazed that your three man crew accomplished so much in just a couple hours which should have been expected to take at least a couple days. Spoke with Paul,to have him give me an estimate on removing a tree. After receiving the estimate, I tried to schedule to have the tree Removed. I left several messages and no return call.. FINALLY I was able to "catch" him and he stated that Originally he had "underbid" the job, then said it was a typo and his receptionist typed the bid wrong but he was so sorry, but he was going to have to add 1000.00 to the bid to make it worth his time.. Recently had 1888 cleanup do a large project at my house. Paul not only did it to my satisfaction but exceeded it and didn't just do exactly what we agreed on, he worked until everything looked right. What I like about Paul and his company is the responsiveness. You call, you tell him you need something done, the guys come out and do their thing. Plus, they don't leave your property a mess when they're done. We have had Paul and his crew out for two large jobs. Paul personally came out and gave us a very reasonable quote and gave us advice on what we needed done and what could wait. They showed up on time with a large team of guys and heavy equipment. They are serious about getting the job done! It's nice to have a job taken care of and not drag on. The work was fantastic and they cleaned up all of the debris and left my yard looking much better than before they came. Paul and his crew were very professional and courteous. He quoted me a bid on Sunday and on Tuesday he had a crew ready to go for an all day job. They were excellent at removing a very large water oak that was close to a power line and a pool enclosure. His crew was so kind, even gave me some tips for my future garden! Dealing with Paul was a nightmare! First, he was late with EVERY promised phone call or visit. He agreed to cut down a tree & remove the stump in my front yard. When he left, he said that they had to leave a pile of wood chips over the area that used to have to stump, and it would settle into the hole. Later when I was raking the yard to level it out for sod, we discovered that under the wood chips was NOT a hole, but a BIG hump of tree stump! When I contacted Paul to have him come back to grind the stump down more, he responded with "well, I'm not going to make a special trip to come out there". After a few phone calls back and forth trying to get him to come out before my sod arrived, he got irate and said he should have charged me more. Well, sorry, that's not my problem you think you undercharged me, but that doesn't make it ok to not finish the job! Apparently, he doesn't accept criticism well because then he said "stop lecturing me, I'm not your kid" and hung on me. He wouldn't answer or return any of my phone calls after that. Several days later (after we hired another company to finish the job), he drove by and said "I told you we would come back".......uh, I don't think so! read more
