I was up in Reno for a Bachelor Party(don't ask), and both nights the future groom and I, both drunk AF, wandered in around 1am because, you know, it was right on the way to our hotel. Here's my memories: -No Cover Charge -Cheap wells drinks, $5 or $6 for a gin & tonic or rum & coke. $1 water. -It was pretty empty both nights, not much more than dozen customers with barely anyone dancing. -Sweet ass lighting systems! Its like the 80s and 90s again! -Groovy electronica/techno/dance music...loved it! -At age 40 I knew I was way too old to be here, but being drunk I could care less. I don't know if it was just a slow weekend or if we came in too late, but I would love to see this place at least half packed with people dancing...oontz! oontz! oontz! Not sure if I'll ever be back in Reno, ever, but if I am I'll definitely wander in again. read more

Don't let 1 Up's small venue fool you, for they bring in up and coming artists as well as big names to make sure the night stays alive all the way til sunrise. My buddy Joey is a bartender there and I remember when he was just a bar-back. What's up Joey. :P I'm pretty sure my friends and I utilized almost everything in there. From the foosball table to the pinball machines. What makes this venue enjoyable is that there are couches to lounge on if you wanted to just chill and have conversations with friends or to give yourself a small break in between dance sessions. Best part is when it's time to call it a night and you're having the case of the drunchies, China Diner is-or well was literally right next door. Nothing beats greasy Chinese takeout to help sober you up! Sure, I've heard sometimes that 1 Up is "sketchy" or "grungy". Some of my friends tell me "Oh I'd never go to 1 Up.." but for me, my experiences at 1 Up is always a fun one. It's not for everyone and that's fine. But for me, I definitely enjoy the venue. ZOMBIE CRAWL: This place is a buzz kill, do not waste your time in line here on crawls. They still charge you $20/ per person to get in even with your crawl cup. They are listed on the map as one of the participating bars for zombie crawl, with that being said, they should not be charging people with the crawl cup. When I asked the cashier, he looked at his watch (1:53am) and says OK you guys can get in for $10. If you're in Reno area I highly recommend stopping in . The employees had amazing energy, were super friendly, and made the night so much more amazing. Bartender knows his stuff, and not once did he skip a beat with customers at counter or dancing himself. Dj was fire and the entire club lit up with music and laser lights. TW: Spiking Drinks. I could give zero stars if it was possible but this place is a no go. My friend got roofied within 10 minutes of us being there. Isn't the first time this happening to someone I know. My friend and I went to the bathroom left our 2 female friends at the bar while they ordered drinks. Another 10-15 minutes go by and one of the girls is slurring her words, not making any sense and didn't even know what city she was in. We all had the same amount of alcohol. As soon as we get home, she is throwing up until sunrise and has zero memory of the entire night while the reminder of us can recite every detail. NEVER trust a bar tender here. Went here during the zombie crawl, even with cups there was a $10/person cover. They said they could charge us even though we had crawl cups (which are supposed to make you exempt for cover charges) because they weren't part of the crawl. Apparently you can be on the crawl map, be listed as one of the bar stops in the crawl, and not be part of the crawl. Bouncer also let a few people cut in front of us because they paid him off. read more

Was in Reno for a night with friends and family. Went to the bars inside the Casino but wanted to be near our people lol. The place was within walking distance. Had fun but was annoyed sometimes. People are rude. Felt more like a str8 bar, only clocked 6 people, including us. The music was good but needs to keep moving. The idea is awesome, since we have a good nerd factor in our fine city, but it could have been better. It's not as awesome as I thought it would be. Not much games and isn't really an arcade. If they added more classics and new stuff that would be great. It's been around for a few years, but I'm not as much of a fan and hope they will expand their games in the future. Everything you would expect in a smaller locally-owned nightclub, without anything left to the imagination. When I walked in, I saw the layout of the club like this - big rectangle bar leading back about half way from the front of the building, designated dance area beyond that taking up 1/4 of the area, and couches lining the walls going back thr length of the room. That's literally all of it. Music is no different from any other - no better nor worse. Great stop for those who like to hop around from club to club at night, but not really worth visiting otherwise. read more

This bar is wack. I've been to many bars in my day and nobody has ever treated me like this. Reasons why this bar sucks: -They only fill drinks 3/4 of the way and still expect tips -80% of the people there are dudes (it's basically a gay bar) -They gave me the wrong drink, made me pay for it then also made me pay for the drink I originally ordered -This place looks and smells like shit -A group of guys tried hitting on me (I'm a male) -The staff doesn't even pay attention to you when trying to order a drink and let alone fuck up your order when you do get their attention -The majority of people there are under the legal drinking age -The music sucks Save your time and money and go to any other bar other than 1up. Wow not sure what happened to this place but this place is horrible now. 1) A cover charge?!? You don't pay for most of the better clubs around there not sure why they charge one. Maybe to get your money before you realize how bad the place is. 2) This place use to have great games but now maybe 3 pinball machines and a rickety Foosball table. Was expecting to play some games but when we paid and walked in it was instant regret. 3) The music is so bad. Not the biggest fan of dub step but i can tolerate it but his place made me wish i brought ear plugs. I love this place!! Music is awesome old school dub step which brings old people who started it like me back in the day can enjoy. Yes people are a little different but who isn't in Reno! it's not Vegas people and never will be. As far as scenery way cool all arcade pacman bar way cool for the gamers! I came from Sacramento to see a DJ. The Venue is a good size, not the cleanest. Big enough dance floor to dance. Parking can be an issue.

I LOVE barcades! I've been to quite a few, and when I heard there was one in Reno (by the same name of an AWESOME barcade in Denver) I was stoked. WOW what a let down! They only have about 10 or so games, some weren't working, and the ones that did were grungy and sticky. Only about 10 people there on Friday night at 11. How are they surviving? I waited in line for over 45 minutes during my two trips to the bathroom along with half the other females in the place while all the men were waiting for us. The music is great and the bar is fine. But, we are there to drink and dance, not to wait in line for a bathroom all night. 1 star is generous..... We used to come here when it was "Wurk" and we would dance until early morning, it then changed to 1Up. Which in the beginning you could sit down and play an old school video game with strangers and have a good time. The new and "improved" 1Up is so terrible, somehow we always say "let's give it another shot" only to be confronted with a cover and when you enter, there are literally 3 people on the dance floor, everyone else is outside smoking and the crowd is a lot different than it used to be. Somehow the talent that works there is entitled, you throw a tie on a gorilla and it's still a gorilla. That's exactly what the people at the front door act and basically look like. The owner must be oblivious, not present, or on drugs to think this is what people are attracted to. The rent-a-bouncers at the door sit and talk shit and play a real tough game ;) but if an altercation happens, next thing you know they are acting just like the person, if not worse, who started the argument. This bar is easily the worst bar in Reno!!! The waiters are horrible, and the security is even worse. Last weekend the security took my buddies id, who is 23, and when he asked for it back he was thrown to the ground. The security is constantly getting physical with people trying to come into this bar. Also, while in the bar they fill my beer up 3/4 of the way. my buddies were ordering shots, and they were clearly watered down. Save your time and do not go to this bar. Normally I'm a sugarcoat it sort of gal, but this place brought out my bluntness... It was straight dirty and gross, it was so empty the staff outnumbered us and it still took us 15 minutes of staring at them to get their attention to order drinks. Since there is no menu we had one asshole bartender charge us 7 dollars per minuscule redbull and vodka and the next bartender charged us only 5 for the exact same drink. It was clear if you weren't part of the usuals there or a friend you were treated different. We were Ignored or greeted with dirty looks frequently. The furniture was disgusting and falling apart and the place smelled. If my words haven't swayed you from not going there enough already I'd recommend bringing an air freshener and sanitizing wipes to this venue, maybe a penicillin shot while you're at it . Half the crowd there appeared to be underage and under the influence of something that wasn't alcohol. My husband was approached my a coke dealer while smoking out front. Worst bar I have ever been to in my entire life. Bouncers we're terrible, took 3 real ID's for some reason I do not know why.. the bartenders were trash, took 25 minutes to get their attention and finally when when you get their attention they take another 20 minutes to bring you your drink and on top of that they don't even bring your card back to you so you have to spend another 20 minutes trying to get it back. I would NEVER recommend this bar to anyone nor will I ever be back here. On top of all this one of my friends ended up unconscious from and fight that he never even started. I've been to many bars and have never ever in my entire life seen such terrible treatment to guests by a public bar before. The bouncers have now confiscated three of my friends real ids just in one weekend. The bartenders are even worse, i ordered three drinks for my friends and i and gave the bartender my card to pay and she never returned it. i had to wait another 25 minutes to get her attention for me to ask her to return my card to me. i highly recommend not going to this bar when in Reno and completely avoiding the area in general. If you do decide to attend this bar expect to have a very shitty night. In fact i've personally witnessed people being harassed outside in front and on the side of the bar over ridiculous things by people that work there. on top of all that i overheard that they don't even have any surveillance around the bar which i believe to be very unprofessional. this bar needs to be closed as soon as possible, it's a complete train wreck and i know i will not be going there EVER again. read more
