The TL;DR is that Gold River is a locals dive bar with cool bartenders, gambling, two pool tables,…read morean AMI jukebox, darts machine that works sometimes, and proudly serves cheap drinks 24/7. And they allow smoking/vaping. Gold River caters to its crowd, the people of Lemmon Valley. It serves cheap well, bottles of Coors Lite and Modelo Especial, and the most exotic thing they carry is High Noon. That's not to say they don't have some fine selections of whisky or tequila, but that's not their crowd. This is an after work bar, not a tourist bar. Cocktails need to be Googled, sometimes drinks or ingredients are out of stock, and the bartenders will tell you off if you're being a problem. Gold River is open 24/7, and all the bartenders are cool. I've had the pleasure of being served by all of them at some point, and they're always looking out for their regulars and their bar. The age range of the customers is generally the 40+ crowd, with a few working 30 somethings that come in from time to time. The bar doesn't serve food, but there are plenty of food options less than a minute walk nearby (Roy's next door, Tacos Jalisco, and Taco T truck). Did I mention the bar allows smoking? They do have air cleaners inside, but consider yourself warned. Two APA pool league teams play out of Gold River, so it can be a little crowded on some nights, but they're good people and if you're looking for a team, you might find one here. And that's about it. If you live in the North Valleys and you're looking for a late night dive, a beer after work, or even just a coin table to practice pool on, Gold River's a pretty great dive bar, and I'm proud to call it my dive bar.

Bighorn Tavern - Shrimp po' boy with barely any sauce, burnt tasting shrimp and fries, and some sad old veggies

I have been to Bighorn Tavern 2, which meant I was due to Bighorn Traven 1. There are a few…read moredifferences that lie between both locations but for the most part they are the same. We came in for Saturday Brunch around 10am, early, I know, however we were greeted and given a table right away. The restaurant wasn't busy for a Saturday, we did receive really attentive and thoughtful service from our server, Kylie. While they still had their Holiday drink specials menu, the server did confirm they have 2 for 1 mimosas and $6 bloody marys. The special was a Prime Rib breakfast burrito which both of the people I came in with ordered while I ordered the breakfast BLT. The Prime Rib burrito was so tender and juicy with a fried egg in the middle, definitely a special item for sure. I had the BLT on an everything bagel with a side of fruit and it hit the spot of a lighter, less hearty breakfast. For good service and cheap drinks, I will definitely be back!

Hey there Party People…read more In Reno doing the Gambling thing as well as the SPA. Decided to branch out and try a locals favorite the Bighorn Tavern. The atmosphere is everything you would want from a local bar joint. Pool table, Dart boards nice outside patio with heaters. Appetizers were Onions Rings and Cheesy Garlic Bread. The Onion Rings were tempura style fresh made in house...no frozen bag crap here. For my husband they were a hair on the doughy side but they weren't greasy at all which a totally appreciate. The Garlic bread was tasty having a hard Toasted cheese top with the gooey cheese underneath and the flavor was spot on. I'm a dark beer drinker so I went for the MOOSE DROOL if you had to many the moose wouldn't be the only thing drooling . You can't go to a tavern and not try one of the drafts...that would just be wrong. Hubby had the Prime Rib sandwich thought it was tasty with the chimiruri sauce and provolone cheese. I had the Meatloaf melt. It was the bomb. Tons of grilled onions a total mess to eat but so worth it...just make sure to ask for extra napkins. It's a place worth driving to...hang with the locals and have a pint. Be kind to one another
