After not being able to secure on campus housing for the upcoming 2024-25 UCSC school year, this mom panicked! Found 1010 Pacific Apartments on Apts.com and immediately sent a message. Adriana, the leasing agent, responded within 24 hours! Staff have been extremely friendly, patient, understanding, kind, so responsive and helpful! Great communication throughout the rental agreement! All 5 girls and their families are so happy with the outcome! I can finally get some sleep knowing my daughter and her friends are in good hands with Adriana and her staff! Location, location, location! And the rent compared to what other rentals I was looking at were 1-3k more for the other available rentals. So happy to find this not so hidden gem in downtown Santa Cruz! When we did a tour the whole building smelled like rotten broccoli which they tried to cover up with some sandalwood-like fragrance. The outside is dirty though that's understandable because it's downtown. Inside looks neat. The bamboo outside is nice. read more

I spent 3 years as a resident at 1010 while attending UCSC. The location was great and the security system of the building made me feel very safe. The most special part of the building, though, was the management. Adriana took over as property manager at the end of my first year in the building and she was such a light! She is very kind, knows everyone in the building, is always happy to chat or make any accommodations, and was an overall wonderful lady! I'd definitely recommend this apartment complex if you are looking to put down roots in Santa Cruz. read more

I've been living at 1010 for 5 years. I truly love this apartment complex. I first moved into a 2 bedroom 2 bath when I was a student. We had 4 people total and were very comfortable. The apartment had plenty of space for us AND we had a washer and dryer in the apartment. That itself was worth all our weights in gold. Only having to share my bathroom with 1 other person was also a HUGE plus. In addition we each has our own closets so which made our living space very civil. We never dealt with noisy neighbors and even facing the Catalyst the windows did a great job of cutting out noise from outside. Many of my friends said our apartments building looked like a fancy hotel. I've now moved into a 1 bedroom 1 bath with my partner and pup and absolutely love it! While the rates do look pricey on paper they are a steal compared to other apartments in Santa Cruz. So many other apartments in Santa Cruz are much older with old carpet, bad plumbing, and bad everything but want almost as much as these apartments. No other apartment I've looked at has even compared to: 1. The location 2. The IN UNIT washer/dryer 3. Pet friendly 4. The location again! I am a bus commuter and the bus station could not be closer/ more convenient. It is a huge savings to me to not have to bring a car, pay for all my car expenses, plus a downtown parking pass, PLUS a parking pass for UCSC. Its insane how much money living in this complex saves me. Being right on Pacific means everything is within walking distance. Great restaurants, ice cream, shopping, trader joe's, and new leaf are all within walking distance. They have a great gym with giant mirrors and cool game sitting room.You need a key fob to enter the building, the gym, and the elevator so even though you are on Pacific the building feels very safe. Donna is a great property manager. She is always super kind and helpful whenever we have questions. We were having trouble with our initial move but Donna was very understanding and quick to respond to us and give us our options during that stressful time. Miguel, the maintenance manager, and is always helpful and very respectful of our space. My partner and I are very happy to call 1010 our home. We wouldn't have it any other way. read more

they assigned you to park your car a block away in a public parking garage where homeless and drug users hang out. Or you pay another hundreds of dollar to park in the basement. I parked in front of the apartment to unload my grocery once. It costed me a 50 dollars violation fee for parking in a load/unload zone without an attendent. Hello? I felt like a super star living here because it was like living in a resort . My unit came with secure parking underneath the building, and I enjoyed using the fitness center on a regular basis( it has professional style equipment and I was able to save money by getting rid of my gym membership). The location is outstanding because you are right in the middle of all the fun but not of it! One of the nicest surprises after living there for a while was the energy efficiency of the place. My PG&E bill never went over $35 and I never had to run the heat in the entire year I lived there. So much of what is a available in Santa Cruz is old, cold, and funky which = high energy costs. 1010 Pacific is very atypical when it comes to Santa Cruz apartments, i.e., it is bright, warm, energy efficient, secure, spacious, modern, well located, amenity laden, well managed, and I never heard any noise coming from my neighbors --- ever! Gorgeous apartments, though small for the price. Lots of features, lots of bells and whistles, though the extra parking fees are annoying. Ended up going with another option solely because of price. If you are looking for that "downtown" feeling - then you might like living at Pacific Apartments. The location is ideal for anyone who wants to be within walking distance of restaurants, stores, and shops. Unfortunately downtown Santa Cruz is filled with a higher than normal transient population - with many homeless sleeping on the streets and many - many beat up old guitars. The building itself is comfortable and the prices very reasonable for what you get - but this building suffers from the surroundings. The noise level from the bus-station next door - the neighbors across the way yelling - or the club across the street thumping - is something you might not be able to deal with. Which isn't a knock against the apartments - just the location. My gripe wasn't really any of this - it was the smoke. For some reason it felt like everyone around me smoked and if I dared open the window to let in some cool air - my apartment would fill with second hand smoke that seemed to never go away. I ended up leaving with a serious cough. But if you are smoker? This place may be nirvana. They also accept pets which is nice. read more

This is the best apartment building in downtown Santa Cruz by far. I lived there for 8 years and I still miss it. My first floor apartment had 16 foot ceilings and a large outside patio with bamboo and plants and lots of room for my cat to enjoy. The location is ideal. There are restaurants, shopping, and live music all right outside your door. Safe nice apartments right on the main downtown street is something many larger cities don't have. Now I live in SF and pay a lot more money for a lot less with fewer walking options. The staff is friendly and helpful. Especially the manager Gino is always working to make tenants happy and keeps the apartment running smoothly. The gym and new rec room are very useful and places for the community to come together. Of all the places i've ever lived, 1010 Pacific is my favorite. read more

I would preface this by saying that I've been living in 1010 Pacific Apt for two years now. I specifically requested a ground floor unit and what do you know, the management team obliged quickly and willingly. My vaulted ceiling, full bathroom with a tub AND full 4 stove/oven kitchen are the envy of my peers. Miguel, the building's repairman works terrifically fast and is friendly to all. I had some electrical and plumbing issues that could've lead to my water bill going through the roof but Miguel fixed it within the working day, if that's not quality customer service, I don't know what is. Most importantly however, the current building manager is some of the most hard working and genuine people I've ever had the pleasure of meeting. She is kind and caring to all and have always made it a priority to answer our questions and satisfy our living needs. The building itself is well-kept and meticulously clean almost every day and the underground garage is a great and safe option for your vehicles. 1010 Pacific Apt makes a terrific home, I've certainly been able to call it home, and while my words aren't much in the grand scheme of things, you can bet that I truly enjoy living here. read more

We have lived here for 4.5 years now. The property management treats us like royalty. If something is broken, it's fixed within 24 hours. Geno Lira is the property manager. He's fantastic! Friendly, approachable and the king of follow through. Miguel and Belen cover the day to day work on the building and they are beyond compare. Friendly, helpful and constantly working. Our apartment is spacious with great views of the city. The marble counter tops and laminate floors really make you feel like you're living in a penthouse. We liked the place so much, we moved our in-laws into the building, and one of our friends. We recommend it to everyone who wants to be in the middle of everything downtown, yet escape to the quiet and luxury of a penthouse. read more

I left a review previously because I was not happy with the weekend manager. Shortly after writing my review the manager instantly contacted me via email, to apologize. Then gave me a direct number in which I could set up an appointment to receive a tour of the apartments. I think this shows the dedication to the customers and future residents. So, for that, I think as far as management is concerned this would be a great place to live. read more

The best thing about 1010 Pacific Apartments is the Property Manager, Geno. He is so nice, warm, and reasonable. He really makes the residents feel welcomed and appreciated. I rented there for 6 months while transitioning from the Peninsula to Santa Cruz. I picked these apartments because they were close to my new job and they allow dogs. I can't comment on the rent price -- this was the only place I investigated. But I felt safe and secure here. You have to have a fob to enter the building and also to work the elevator. I was never concerned for my safety. I parked in the garage under the building and never had a problem. The location is within walking distance of great bars and restaurants. As long as Geno is the Property Manager, I can recommend this place. read more

so let me just start off by saying i had already wrote a pretty lengthy review about this place a little after i first moved in, but i recently seen that it's not showing up on yelp for some reason. i just wanted to take the time to write another review about this place because this place and it's staff, especially a particular person are just simply awesome and it is well deserved. i'll start off by giving a shout out to the entire staff here at 1010 pacific. from the maintenance guy miguel who keeps the place working tip top to the cleaning ladies that keep the place spotless, everyone here does an amazing job in taking care of the tenants. i say a big thank you to them, but there is one person who really takes the cake here when it comes to going above and beyond. who really deserves a lot of recognition for the job she does here and her name is donna riviera. she's as lovely as she is charming. she's the manager here and by far one of the most welcoming and friendly people i've met. you can tell she's a genuinely caring person and she's always very professional as well as super helpful everytime i speak to her. when i first moved in i was in kind of a rough situation and desperate for a place. i came to donna in urgent need of a place and i just needed someone to hear me out. not only did she take the time to hear me out, but she came to my rescue and for that my dog and i are forever grateful to her. she really made an effort to help me out of the mess i was in when most wouldn't have. so thank you donna for all that you did for me, it really means a lot. now let's talk about what living here is like. so when you first walk into their upscale lobby you'll be impressed with how nice it is. it feels like walking into a luxury hotel and everytime i bring someone over they are always blown away. they keep it super clean as well and i always see the cleaning ladies making their rounds every morning. i am in love with my apartment. i have a large bedroom, a large living room, vaulted ceilings, a view of downtown, new flooring, new carpets, a very nice kitchen, stainless steel appliances, marble counter tops, new cabinets, a very nice bathroom with marble as well, my own washer & dryer, and two large closets. the lay out of my place is very cool too. i couldn't be more happy or comfortable with my apartment. i have my own parking space with plenty of room in the secured parking lot underneath the building as well as a garage door opener. all my neighbors are super friendly and you can tell they all love it here too. my dog loves going for his walks through downtown santa cruz just right out our front door. he thinks he owns downtown. downtown is amazing with all the restuarants, stores, and things to do. i haven't had one single issue here since i moved in and i've been here for about a year now. 1010 pacific apartments is by far the best place to live downtown. i am very happy and grateful that i get to live here and you'll be too if you're lucky enough to snag a place here yourself. thanks again donna. read more

I lived there for 2 years during my college years. Geno the manager is great! He is very professional and made my stay at 1010 a great experience. Living down town Santa Cruz was great! The security is really tight, you have to have a fob to get in to the building itself and also to get in the elevator. Wouldn't recommend this place! Horribly rude property manager. My parents were placed there temporarily because their apartment was getting remodeled. From day 1, my parents got flea bites everywhere over 100 bites and they dont' even have any pets. when i called the manager's office to report the flea problem, the janitor came and cleaned the carpet and fumigated it. But the fleas were still there and when i called the manager (Michael) again, he said i was wasting his time. Those were his exact words " I have nothing else i can do, you are wasting my time." So i contacted my parents original apartment managers and have them deal with Michael. My parents had to go to the dr. to get creams for their flea bites and Michael said we were wasting his time! read more

My stay at 1010 pacific apartments lasted just over a year and a half. And my only regret about my experience with 1010 is that it had to end so soon. The service my apartments mates and me received was second to none. At the core of this great service was the apartment manager Geno Lira. We knew from our first conversation with him that we would be happy to have him as our property manager. We lived in two different apartments during out time there and both times Geno made the transition easier than any other property I have lived in. Further more he regularly goes above and beyond his role as a manager. He takes time to develop a personal relationship with each renter and is more than willing to help with all the other aspect of comfortable living. On more than one occasion he helped us secure furniture by letting us know when people moving were looking for people who needed some. We were able to get the majority of our furniture for free because of this which was tremendously helpful. He is also very knowledgeable about fun events and activities going on in the area which really helps one to settle into their new environment. My work schedule lined up with his and I am happy to say that I have never before had a property manager that I looked forward to seeing at the start of my day on a weekly basis. All in all it was a fantastic experience. read more
