It's a pretty good place to live, close to the freeway, not too far from the beach. I like it here

Overall, the place is very nice compared to the downtown area. Nice views, adequate amenities--community pool, internet, lawn area, gas bbq picnic area, charcoal grill picnic area, gym, yoga studio, on-site property management office, actual private security that patrols, and a common business area for studying equipped with various office machines. Legit a little pricey, but you get what you pay for. Appears to be in a relatively safe area close to a farmer's market, pharmacy, fast food, and short drive from grocery stores. The unit we toured (similar to the one we will be leasing) had laundry machine/dryer inside, open floor plan, with simple kitchen with major appliances. Common mail center with cluster mailboxes and slot for outgoing mail was on site. Unit comes in with one parking spot which works out for our situation. On-street parking for guests and visitors was within proximity. With my niece, she planned on having three other roommates. Credit checks were required for each student and their co-signing parent. You pay for your own credit checks and put down a $900 deposit to hold your unit. Based on the four roomies, the total amount of combined income had to be approx $25K/month amongst the co-signing parents in order to qualify.

He is incredibly responsive, helpful and fixes things the same day that we bring something to his attention. He makes sure the property is well maintained and secure. My Wife and I rented a one bedroom apartment in Coronado Apartments for over three years and we…read morehave been very happy with our time there. We had plenty of space in both the living room and bedroom, lots of storage in the closets and built in storage cabinets, hot water was always quick and consistent (which is something you don't appreciate unless you have not had it), and it was cable/DSL ready. The building also has some nice amenities, like a dedicated parking space, lots of street parking for guests, a nice pool and BBQ area in the center of the building, and a inexpensive laundry room with 5 washers and 5 dryers. All the common areas are extremely well maintained by the property manager, Mike. He takes great care to make sure that the building feels inviting and safe and he was also very responsive to any issues we had in our unit. We would be lucky if all our future property managers were as attentive as Mike. The area is also very nice. There is a Safeway (with a Redbox) next door and a grocery outlet across the street, which makes grocery shopping very easy. It is also walking distance to a couple of great restaurants, like Charlie Hong Kong, the Crepe Place and Lillian's. My Wife and I enjoyed taking walks around the neighborhood almost every day, including walks down to the Harbor through the new Arana Gulch trail. While the apartment was great overall, there were a few small issues that keep me from giving it a perfect score. During the summer the apartment did get pretty warm, but most of the time that was fixed by opening a few windows to get a cross breeze. However, for us that meant opening our living room door onto Morrissey Blvd, which can be very loud (luckily not all the units face Morrissey). The kitchen was a little small and had limited counter space (a rolling stand from Ikea helped a lot), which made preparing dinner a challenge sometimes. We also didn't have a dishwasher, and had to take up some of the limited counter space with a drying rack. Overall, I would certainly recommend Coronado Apartments to anyone looking to find a nice place to live, with lots of amenities both in the building and in the neighborhood that is still affordable (for Santa Cruz). (4.5 stars)
