I have been a Randolph resident for over 30 years and this has to be one of the best diamond in the rought place I have EVER been too. Great, friendly and profesional staff. The food was outstanding (Had chicken parm meal)....got to meet one of the owners (Friendly, funny and engaging). Talked to a bunch of locals at the bar and all were great. This is by far the cleanest, friendliest place in Randolph, with some of the best food around. There isn't anything I've tried that I wouldn't recommend to others. The "Garden room" they have now because of Covid is adorable on a nice day, and basically this review is specifically for the marinated steak tips, (with real mashed potatoes and fresh green beans as our sides), that we always order whenever we get takeout from here. My experience hmmm. Had prime rib that was cold and tough. String beans and mashed potatoes cold as well. After dinner we sat at the bar for a couple of drinks. A woman walked in to their establishment whom the bartender did not like and she made it very clear about her feelings toward this woman. The bartender swore at this woman and verbally assaulted her. Bartender Stating she didn't feel comfortable with the woman in the bar because another bartender didn't like her. I was mortified at the behavior of this bartender. I politely and quietly told the bartender her behavior was unprofessional. I told her she should have talk to her quietly and not scream vulgar things out loud in front of all of their customers. Others sitting at the bar began getting on their cell phones and calling whoever to tell what was happening at the moment. I also pointed that out to the bartender and she was rude and began treating us with the same disrespect. Let me state that this was my second time only in this establishment. At 1:30 am there was a knock on our door and to our surprise, it was the owner of the bar letting us know we can not ever go back in his bar!!! As you can imagine we were shocked that the owner thought that was ok he did that. Who does that ? Who behaves in this manner ? Who ? The 1048 that's who. I have learned since this encounter that they bartenders seem to get personally involved with the drama of their clientele and OBVIOUSLY lack the professionalism of owners and their staff. There has been more than a handful of patrons that have been barred because of the bartenders childish behavior. Not once did the owner mention the swearing and yelling that his bartender afflicted on a customer. Truly horrified . For the owner that showed up at the place I reside at 1:30 am , does not surprise me that he have NO ISSUES with the behavior of his bartenders. Actually I was told the bartender assaulted the owners wife, physically hit her and the bartender still works there!!! Go figure.. with that being said I wouldn't walk in there if my life depended on it. Have been here several times now. Mostly to sit down and eat & lately for take out. The food is pretty good which is the only good thing I can say & it's close by so it's convenient. When I have come to sit and eat I have found the waitresses unfriendly. The bartender must be severely underpaid because she practically made a scene when I didn't leave a tip (this one time) for my simple TAKE OUT order (1 salad & 1 burger) that I waited over 1 hour for. Super unprofessional and uncalled for. The food definitely isn't good enough to make up for that kind of service (or lack there of). Went there a while back and will never go back after how the manager talked to my husband and I. The chicken parm I had was gamey and not cooked well. The waitress we had said sometimes the chicken parm doesnt come out well but she would talk to the manager about taking it off the bill. The manager came over with such a horrible attitude and told us that he had plenty of people who ate the chicken parm all day and no one complained so he couldn't and wouldn't help us and walked away. We had eaten there before and the food was good but it just wasnt this time. We haven't returned since and probably wont. Just because "other people" ate it and had no complaints, doesnt mean my complaint wasnt valid. read more

We've been living in Randolph 2 years now, and decided to try them today- they are under the name 1048 bar& grill now. Delicious food!!! My grilled chicken wrap was juicy, real chicken pieces, that had a genuine grill flavor! Hubby's Mac n cheese tasted home made, with crumbly breading/ crackers on top, herbs, and buttery cheese. O'Donnell's is a great family owned restaurant and pub that has been around for a long time and there is a good reason for that. My family has been and still is going there for the yummy food, delicious drinks and witty people. They offer a comfortable ambience as opposed to franchise restaurants. This is a small local dive bar where many of the regulars know each other. It's a okay place for having some beers. The beers are cheaper than most other places in the area. The bartender provided decent service. I didn't have any food there so I can't judge that portion of it. read more

Our first time there even though we've been meaning to go for months. Taking credit cards was the turning point, and prime rib every Thursday did it. Cold beer, good drinks and on par food. Starters of fried pickles and beer batter onion rings were plentiful and tasty. Prime rib a little overdone but still fantastic. Sides...meh. Bar pie was delicious but too much for one after those apps. Leftovers were a-ok. Service was spotty, one server for the whole place isn't enough. They need a bus boy to help out. I love this place. The food is amazing, the beer is ice cold, they play great Music, the staff is fun, and funny, and engaging!! This place is great! I havn't tried much on the menu because I always start off with their nachos which are enormous! You get a huge plate of chips covered in cheese, salsa, sour cream and jalepenos. Then I usually top that off with a buffalo chicken pizza and me and my friends are so full we can bareley finish our cheap beers. Def a townie place, people have their own tables and such, but hey that means you don't have to get dressed up :) one of the waitresses there is really great, the younger one, but if you go and there's a really old woman waitressing, well I just recomend sitting at the bar. Honestly, this is the ultimate townie Irish bar, and I have never thought of my hometown as townie-ish, but now that I've grown, I see that it probably is in some sense. As an outsider coming in, you'd probably hate it. It's dark, there's always a couple drunk guys at the bar (at any time of day), the food is hit or miss and some of the servers aren't the friendliest. But the pizza is good (most of the time), the fries are great, the prices are unbeatable, the drinks are strong, again, the prices are unbeatable, the bartenders are friendly, and there's now even an internet jukebox for your listening pleasure. I have been a patron of many bar and grilles for the past 30 years and the 1048 is truly a "diamond in the rough". The owners work extra hard to ensure that the customers have a good experience and it shows. The calzones are top notch, if not the best around, the pizza is great , as are the sandwiches. The drinks are more than reasonably priced. Overall , based on price and quality I would give the new 1048 bar and grille a 9 out of 10. Only because I never give out tens. read more

Great food. The chicken parm grinder was made with fresh chicken and the steak and cheese was literally the best I've ever had. Service was slow but there was only one bartender during a playoff game, so we appreciated that she was trying! Would definitely eat again when we want a huge, delicious sandwich. read more

We live in Needham and think it's worth the 20 minute drive. So this isn't just a bar for "townies". We've actually found people to be friendly and talkative, even though we're not from Randolph. The bartender we like the best works during the week - I think his name is Joe. He's friendly, has an awesome memory and makes sure you never want for anything. We've tried several dishes as well as their pizza and everything was delicious and reasonably priced. I had a fish sandwich and it was a huge piece of fried fish (NOT greasy) and so fresh tasting.
