Went here tonight for dinner with my old man. The parking lot is very small not sure where you would park if the lot was completely full. We sat right away. They sat us on the dining room side literally next to the pool table there was a group of guys playing pool they were yelling/talking so loud I couldn't hear what my boyfriend was saying half the time. They don't offer bread/rolls or anything to start. We both got the steak tips. We asked for medium and got well done Very dry and bland. Small portions for the price. The broccoli it came with was decent tasted like it was maybe cooked or steamed in beef broth. The mashed potatoes were mediocre and on the dry side. The service was ok... they seemed super young. The food would've been great but each item that was served seemed like it was room temp. Not hot. That was a little disappointing. Fantastic first impression! So fantastic that I came here twice the first week they opened! Burgers are excellent; wagyu beef, smash style patty, amazing french fries. I've had the house burger and the PB&J burger. I can't decide which one was my favorite as they were both some of the BEST burgers I've had in a while. They just melted in your mouth. The "catch" to this place is the parking is tricky. The lot is small and spaces are limited. Not sure what to do or where to park if all spots are full. Street parking is not available in this area. Went with family for lunch/brunch. When we arrived we were told it was brunch only by the hostess. We were confused because the menu they gave us was lunch and a very limited amount of brunch choices. When we asked about it she said we were missing pages in the menu and proceeded to ask the server who told her the menu was changed that morning and we could order from the lunch or brunch. I ordered the Avo toast which the menu stated was sour dough toast, avocado, a fried egg, Parmesan, and red pepper flakes. I also ordered a side of sausage. My sister ordered the classic which the menu states is 3 eggs home fries, bacon and toast. My SIL ordered a burger and fries. When the order arrived it Was actually 2 eggs which ok Bargain, but they were seriously overcooked. On first bite I realized they used cold avocado and the eggs were not only dried out completely and hard but cold as was the toast. Hardly palatable. So I went for the sausage and asked my sis for some of her home fries. I took one bite of the sausage and panicked. It was bad and I had no where to put it. They have cloth napkins and I would never spit food into someone's linens. I apologized to my sisters and spit it on a bread plate. I owned a cafe and came from a catering family. Stuff happens with food, I get it. The best you can do is let them know and move on. My sister's breakfast eggs were also overcooked and she only got 2 eggs and her home fries were a frozen bagged item. She asked for lightly toasted toast and it was dark but again she said no one ever gets that right and shrugged it off. When the server came back she asked how everything was and I said I'm sorry you aren't going to like me. My breakfast was ice cold and I think there is something wrong with the sausage. She literally picked up the sausage plate and inspected the one I had cut open and said they look fine and we use cold avocado so that's why it would be cold. She said I will tell the manager but I don't think I can do anything for you. I said I'm not looking for you to do anything for me, you asked and I told you. She then left and when she came back she said they tasted the sausage and said it tasted fine to them so I can't take it off your bill. I said that is not what I was looking for but you should quite honestly rethink doing breakfast because this was inedible. This corner had never done well with restaurants and this one won't last long either. They have tons of TVs in there and the place was empty on a football Sunday. I'm pretty tolerant of service issues, I'm tolerant of pricing ( we all need to make a living) what I'm not tolerant of is questioning a clients concerns that there is a problem with an item and telling them that it fine. It's a breakfast sausage it either tastes good or it's gone over? It's not like it was a handmade gourmet item that my palate didn't know what to do with? There will not be a next time. read more

I guess I just expected better. It's a beautifully designed space and the service was fine but the food needs a lot of work. We started with apps because they all sound so good on the menu. The arancini? Flavorless which is quite an achievement considering it supposedly had short rib, Gouda, a wine demi glaze and chimichurri. A 3, at best, on a flavor scale of 1-10. The rice was also simultaneously crunchy and mush and Gouda is my favorite cheese. No Gouda detected. The Italian rolls. Do not get these. It's basically an Italian sub in puff pastry but they deep fry it. Whyyyy would you deep fry puff pastry? Grease fest. The halloumi cheese sticks were good but again with the amount of grease. We also got the chipotle ranch dry rub wings. They were super crispy which was great, but again, very plain. No taste of ranch or chipotle to be had. People liked the burgers. The fries were awesome. The biggest disappointment was my brussel Caesar "bowl." It was supposed to have shaved brussel sprouts and Parmesan and toasted farro. There's the picture. Do you see anything other than a standard Caesar salad? It's sold as a bowl so they can charge more. Nice portion of salmon but this "bowl" was $28. Lol Negative. One and done. read more

Had an enjoyable lunch here just as they were opening on a Friday afternoon. Love vibe in here. A variety of seating choices; tables, booths, couches, high tops. Lots of tv's....must be a fun place when games are on. Had a great drink (it was so good I've forgotten the name) and some crazy good meatballs. They may have sat for a tad too long as they were not hot but they were delicious and artfully presented. My cousin appeared to enjoy his salad and his drink. Overall a super fun afternoon!! I think the tree has really progressed since the opening last year. The restaurant is beautifully designed giving lovely ambiance , our service has been amazing each time we have visited and the food has grown as well in terms of flavor and creativity. The spicey chicken sliders are my absolute favorite I order every time along with really any of their burgers, all outstanding. I am so thrilled that we finally have a beautiful, friendly, fun and most importantly great food and drinks spot in Braintree. I cannot wait to try the brunch menu. We recently worked with The Tree to host a gathering for our son's christening. Sam the event planner was great to work with and made sure everything went off without a hitch. People loved the food and the service was great as well. Event pricing was very reasonable compared to other restaurants I looked at and they were very flexible about food, decor, space layout etc. All and all it was a great experience and we'll defiantly be back. read more

Here's the thing. If you're going to run a neighborhood restaurant, you really need to be reasonably accommodating. I don't eat red meat and a lot of other things and generally only eat grilled chicken sandwiches when I go out. On the rare occasion a restaurant does not offer a grilled chicken sandwich, I basically order a burger but swap out the burger for grilled chicken. Literally every other restaurant I've been to I get "No problem" or "Sure!" Sometimes there's a surcharge which is fine. Not even an option here though. When I asked the bartender to simply put a grilled chicken breast instead of a hamburger--no other changes-- I was told, bluntly--no apology or offer of how we could make it work (upcharge etc) just "No substitutes. The cook won't do it." Really? I tried to say that there is grilled chicken to add for a salad and there is a grilled chicken on the kids menu but I got silence. I don't know. We go out 3-4x a week and all the other bars and restaurants can get me a simple grilled chicken sandwich so it's weird to me that The Tree wouldn't do it. ?? read more

Went all the way to a 5 given the very good to great rating in a variety of categories. Make a good smokey old fashioned, offer a unique cookies & boozy milk combo and a tequila based drink with salted rocks that offered a welcoming after taste. Steak frites came with garlic parmesan fries and was cooked to perfection. Tuna bowl was also on point to showcase the variety. Just wanted to explain further what I meant by my disappointment with the Ramen noodle... When I have ramen either at home or in "official" ramen places, the ramen is thin rice noodles or chewy wheat noodle. I do love me some dried-ramen packets, and also love ramen restaurants in Quincy and Chinatown. I did ask the waitress to describe what kind of ramen it was ...is it like pho? and she said she wasn't sure. Turned out, it was more like a lo mein noodle. I know I kind of broke my rule - to never order Asian food from an American restaurant, especially when it's the only Asian dish on the menu, but I was intrigued by the 48-hour bone broth. Went here for lunch the week after it opened and it did not disappoint. For locals to this side of town we needed a place to grab a bite and a beverage. Very cute decor, seems to be on the rustic side. The staff was very welcoming and engaging. The menu had good options from burgers, salads and apps. They also had a mocktail menu which I really appreciated. They did not list soda water and lime on the mock tail menu, so I was quite shocked to see it was a $6 charge. I don't typically get charged for this at other places and when I do it's $3. They should include it in mock tail menu if they are going to charge the same price. The waitress was great in explaining the dishes when we had questions. Ultimately I went with the earth bowl with chicken and it was yummy. My husband ordered the burger and fries and fries are huge. They do not have enough parking here and people who parked in the Dunkin' Donuts get towed. They should probably indicate where alternate parking is located. read more

Came here for an early dinner on a Saturday. The restaurant itself is cute, comfortable and clean. Service was great! Music is a little too loud. We came with party of 6 and we all enjoyed our food. I got the vegan smash burger and it was delicious. The tomato jam in the burger was a really nice touch. Fries are really really good. Wasn't sure what "wheat dusted" fries meant, but they're really good. The roasted carrot hummus was delicious but they're really skimpy on the hummus. We got like a hundred plantain chips but basically like 3 tbs of hummus. Not proportional at all. My partner got the ancient grain bowl and while it was good it came with like a tablespoon of grains. It was basically a romaine lettuce salad. Besides those slight negatives, it was still a good meal and experience and I'd go back. Hoping they'll add tofu as an option to put in salads or apps to pump up the protein for vegetarians and vegans. read more

I am sitting in The Tree as I write this review, because I feel compelled to share my opinions immediately. After realizing there was a one hour wait at legal seafood, we decided to branch out no pun intended. We read the reviews about The Tree and they seem to be getting better as time goes on so we decided to come over and check it out. Initial impressions were good with a friendly hostess and a clean inviting, modern atmosphere mixed with a traditional flair. We decided to eat at a table in the bar. We do have to say the dining room seemed a little dead. The bar atmosphere was great. Our server, Sheila, was friendly and prompt. She continued to be very sweet and attentive throughout our meal. The music was moderate, but we could still hear ourselves easily over it as we talked. They seem to have taken some prior reviews as guidance for that. There was a nice buzz for a Saturday night and a sports bar like atmosphere with different Boston teams on the big screens. If I have one comment about this restaurant, it's that it doesn't seem to know what it wants to be. It has modern flare some Asian accents in a tavern setting. That being said you should definitely come here because the food was outstanding. We had the carrot hummus appetizer, but since we are not a fan of plantain chips which came with... so ordered ordered double naan bread on the side... an accommodation the server was very happy to make for us. We had the butter chicken and the beef tenderloin. The butter chicken was mainly very similar to chicken tikka masala on skewers. The basmati rice was cooked properly, not too dry and also not gloppy and moist. It was also served over delicious naan (we had a lot of naan.) The chicken was "Like Buddah" My husband's beef tenderloin was extremely tender and delicious and we enjoyed our green bean and carrot vegetable side. We found the entire meal completely delicious and remarked that the only thing that could've made it better was maybe a set of salt and pepper shakers on the table. Managers take note. We have done a lot of watching of Bar Rescue and Gordon Ramsay and we like to pay attention to details... and that was really the only thing we thought could've made the experience better (diner ability to choose salt level) My drink was great too "the Burbs" which was their take on a Cosmo. The drinks are a little on the smaller side, but the price tag is too! $13 for a Cosmo? Who charges that anymore near Boston? I asked if 10 of us came in, how would they handle the seating and the person I spoke to said we would put some table and chairs together. Ordered take-out from this new facility. It became a very bad mistake. I ordered the Nashville Fried Chicken Plate. The kitchen and cooks don't know what they are doing. The Fried Chicken should be crispy chicken. It was soggy and mushy. The plate did not come with the waffle sweet potatoes as listed but, rather the loaded sweet fries which were REGULAR steak fries loaded with hot spices. The buttered corn was corn on the cobb that was either very old or boiled or steamed to death. Either way it was not edible. For a facility opened less than three months, this place it is not going to succeed. Calls to management were never returned. They do not care!!! Don' waste your hard-earned money here. I was in a hurry to check out this newer spot in conveniently located next to south Braintree square and was very happy I did. It's easy to pass by on a main road but when you go inside the ambience is on another level and the food was great. Being in a hurry I sat for a drink with my friend and got the food to go. The bartenders were very on point, attentive, and most importantly social people. My friend and I both being bartenders ordered something a little off menu and to our delight we were met with a a smile of confidence instead of the dirty look you get most places. Long story short the drinks were great, service was fast, and when I finished my nightly run around and finally ate I didn't even bother reheating the food it was just that good.
