When it comes to a neighborhood bar to grab a beer and watch the game, Coop's may work well. It has a divey neighborhood bar vibe and friendly service. However, at least as far as the chicken sandwich is concerned, the food was a terrific miss. I am a food guy - 9/10 times (or more) when I go out I will order something to eat. Therefore, I say if you're going to have food on the menu, do it at least halfway right. I will say the bread was done well, and I wouldn't not be surprised if it's baked in house or purchased fresh from a local baker. Yet, while it can be argued that bread makes up ~50% of the sandwich by volume, this does not count as halfway right. Nice effort, and thanks for the laugh. The problem lies in the chicken. Even though I had ordered it crispy instead of grilled, I think this was interpreted only as fried, not breaded. Not only do I believe it is hard to keep moisture in an unbreaded tender, but these were severely overcooked, dry, and tough. The Buffalo sauce also didn't quite do it for me. While I understand I have high heat tolerance, I also didn't pick up on that whiff of Buffalo when a fresh piece of Buffalo chicken is brought out of the kitchen. Taste-wise it was extremely mild, lacking and acidity; it did however have some sweetness. The execution was also not great. While Dave's can pull off a tender in a sandwich and not have everything fall apart, Coop's is not so fortunate. As there were two tenders (and therefore a valley) inside, it was near impossible to keep the veggies contained. I somewhat understand the thinking behind having them (veggies) be requested as opposed to included by default, at the same time this option seems to have been added as an afterthought. Finally, the fries are A-OK, they seemed fresh, were crisp, and I don't recall specifics on seasoning, I can tell you they were not over-seasoned, nor was I reaching for the salt. So, while if I want to catch a game that isn't available via my antenna, I can see myself here with a beer. Yet, when it comes to food, I think I will be passing. read more

Ugh not what I remember at all! I came here for the first time in years, expecting the same great food I had before. Maybe my memory is deceiving me but I was unexpectedly disappointed... My husband and I ordered the "drunken meatballs" to start. The sauce on the meatballs was the star of the night. It was a nice mix of sweet & savory with a hint of chili pepper flavor. The meatballs were small and uniform, which makes me think they were frozen and came out of a package. I understand this is not a gourmet Italian restaurant but if I'm paying for a meal, I expect more effort put in. Then I ordered a fried chicken sandwich with honey mustard. The sandwich was 2 chicken tenders thrown in between a bun. Not even a chicken patty. This made it difficult/unpleasant to eat. I gave up after a few bites. The honey mustard was literally honey mixed with French's yellow mustard - omg just no, no, no. I've never experienced anything like this. Just say you don't have it available instead of trying to make a horrible, last minute version. I know times are tough right now for restaurants but this was just an unacceptable meal. I had loved Coops when it first opened but hadn't been in years and was not disappointed with my visit yesterday. We arrived around 1pm and sat at a high top; we waited a bit before anyone greeted us but we had the Bruins game to watch and once our drink order was placed, they arrived fairly quickly at which time we were ready to order. My friend suggested the drunken meatball, bbq, hot sauce pizza and our waitress was kind enough to do it half red sauce and half bbq so I try it both ways as the bbq base was preferred. IT WAS DELICIOUS! I usually take photos but completely invested in trying out the bar style pizza that arrived in front of me. The Bloody Mary I ordered was also great, perfectly balanced. They definitely remodeled since the last time I was there and it looks great considering how it's not too dark but not too bright-the perfect upscale dive bar. read more

I have been going to this place for years and easily for two of us put down $100 when we're there between food and drinks and we always generously tip the waitresses and typically in cash. I just called there because they offer free birthday dinners, and it said Online as well as I just saw it. When I called the bartender Maria I asked, do you still do complementary birthday meals her response was no not really business has been down. I actually told her who I was because she is knows me by name and my sister, whose birthday is today so they are foregoing Probably an $80 check today by not providing a complementary birthday mail of $25. I have been here on one occasion and the food was great. There are entrees and appetizers available and I picked an assortment of appetizers. My favorite thing that I got was the potato skins. They were cooked just right and had an awesome flavor to them with just the right amount of cheese and bacon. There is a bar area as well as a regular dining area off to the side in case you prefer not to sit at the bar or in the area of the bar. I opted for the dining room since I felt it was quieter there. The server that I had was friendly and willing to answer questions about what was on the menu. The food came out fast once ordered and the others in my party all enjoyed their food when it was brought out to our table. Five stars all around! read more

This place is great. Sat at the bar, watched football game on numerous tvs. Bloody Mary's were so good and free popcorn to munch on while waiting for our lunch to arrive. We ordered the steak and cheese sub and the hot pastrami sub which was recommended by the bartender and sure enough they were both excellent. Great prices as well. I get excited just thinking about this place! First let me start by saying there is a small lot behind this building, which, as I breathe a sigh of relief, I have always found 1 spot open. There's always street parking if the lots full though. When you walk in and to the left this magical place will make you smile and your hear flutter. No, really. This is how I feel walking in here. A nice huge bar with high top tables around it and tons and tons of TVs to watch Bruins, Red Sox, Patriots and the Celts. And guess what else? UFC!!! Yesssss! Music playing in the background but not so loud that you can't strike up a convo at the bar. Every time I've been the bartenders are wicked attentive and come over within a minute or two to take your drink / food order. Also, while you wait for your food they bring you buttery popped popcorn that's made fresh right there. Ok. So the food? Aw man, scrumptious!! I've gotten a few burgers here and I always order the homemade onion rings with it. Delicious! I've also gotten a Turkey Club that was huge and didn't skimp at all on anything. Made with real turkey too not that deli crap. And I have to say the chicken pot pie in a bread bowl was out of this world unbelievable! I could not believe the size of this thing! First of all Regina F., the reason many restaurants are not doing complimentary (learn how to spell this word) birthday dinners is because the cost of food has skyrocketed and it is no longer fiscally responsible to pay for patron's dinners that have birthdays everyday. To take a shot at Maria is totally unacceptable. You know from past experience that she is the best bartender that you have ever crossed paths with! She knows your drinks, whether they are extra ice, no straw, extra fruit, etc. You loved her before, but now that your sister who has probably never been there does not get a free dinner and now she is bad. Still our go-to place for good, no-frills American bar food. They've updated and changed their menu (see pics), with a few additions like kobe beef sliders and ribs, while taking out some others like chicken marsala and wedge salad. For lunch I usually enjoy their turkey club sandwich which has really fresh and plentiful slices of turkey. This round of dinner we got the garlic parm wings and the chicken, broccoli & ziti entree. Heaping portions of pasta, definitely enough leftovers to count for a full meal for lunch. Unfortunately, my friends burger came out really well down when he requested for medium rare. Not gonna stop us from coning back and doesn't warrant complaining to them in person...but still. Meh. We usually sit in the bar area and promptly get a bowl of fresh popped popcorn from the friendly waitresses. I've always been intrigued on how to play keno, cause I always see people coming up to the keno register. It comes out in a tin baking sheet and atop the thin tortilla chips are layered w/cheese blends, bits of onions, black olives, jalapenos, dice tomatoes, and chili. It's the best chili on top of the best nachos you'll ever had! It comes w/salsa n sour cream on the side. All these flavors is a party in your mouth! Next up, is another one of our faves...steaktips! There are other flavor of sauces, one is barbeque. We just always get their original. It's marinaded and grilled to perfection, nothing more is needed. Everything on their menu that we've tried are delish. We're all about the food there. We like to sit by the bar area where the actions at. The dining room can use some vibe and attention w/decor n furnishing updates. Me and my two besties never get tire of this place. Us 3 frequently come here every other week. I went there with friends who wanted to eat there. I ordered a Reuben sandwich.. it was disgusting..more fat than meat and it was sliced very thick and was also very dry. I sent it back and ordered the French dip sandwich instead... Another BIG fail.. so salty I couldn't eat it yet the au jus had absolutely no flavor at all. My friend ordered the broiled haddock which was way over cooked. The bar area was open but the dining area was not. The tables in the bar area were those high top kind with tall stools..not good for wheelchairs.or anyone not able to climb up on that kind of seating. I have bad knees and could not manage the kind of seating. The stools at the bar itself were a little ( not much ) shorter .I did not see any waitresses who could accommodate a table in the dining room. The decor was depressing and dark..The bartender did a good job however All in all I was definitely not impressed read more
