The food trucks were great, so was the beer and wine bar. The atmosphere was perfect for a sporting event, easy parking, decently easy entry. My biggest complaint is with the design of the bleachers, don't drop anything or it's rolling all the way down. This problem is going to be worse for people with kids, I had to chase down water bottles and toys all game. Next time we're going to bring organizers to prevent this. My other issue was that the lights were out in all the bathrooms, not a big deal while the sun was still up, but a real issue after sunset!

I have been living in the community for about 13 years now and it is a nice and safe area. -Tennis courts: 2 courts but there are some minor cracks in the middle of each of them. Playable but needs some fixing. You do need a card key to get in. -Basketball: There is one fenced outdoor basketball court and is in pretty good condition. People use it often so just be prepared. You need a card key. -Playground: Free for anyone. There is a sand and grass area. Has a picnic area as well with tables. -Pool: Only open during the summer time. You need a card key to access the pool and jacuzzi. There is a lifeguard on duty and there is also a kids pool. Very family friendly. There is 1 lane for laps.

We registered through snail mail to avoid the processing fees, and a week later my check was cashed and that was the only way I knew they received my payment and registration! No email to confirm, so I had to email to verify a few weeks before the event that we were registered. It took a few days to get a response and when I did I was informed in fact we were not registered! I emailed back confirmig the date my check was cashed, then reply was sent back saying our registration was misplaced but they found it. Whew! But no other information is provided prior to race day, and that's frustrating to first timers as myself. Day of Event: I will say the preparation for race day was much more organized. We arrived at 5:45am and everything was practically set up, easy to retrieve your bib with plenty of friendly volunteers. I had to ask around a lot where to go, what to do, it was our first sprint triathlon, but everyone was helpful. There is a pre race speech given by past participants who were very informative and motivating! 400 yard swim: They break you up into age and male/females. Which I liked, easier to swim next to my fellow women especially when you may be in really close proximity. I hit a few people with my arms and legs but everyone was really friendly to my apolgies. The water at Shadow Cliffs I will have to say is DISGUSTING! Seriously, just walking to the starting point of the swim, makes me gag thinking about it. Gooeuy, seaweed type algae in between your toes that goes up past your knees when you step in it! The visibility in the water is zero, but the swim not bad physcially. 3 booeys that form a sqaure with the shoreline and easy to see. I had been training a lot in a lap pool and did one one open water swim, and was prepared for this portion of the triathlon. 11 mile bike: LOVED this route! A few hills, but overall a nice flat ride with pretty views of wine courntry in Livermore/Pleasanton. Traffic is blocked off and we get the road mostly to ourselves. 3 mile run: This was torture for me, it was hot, and there were a few more hills than I expected. But water is provided along the trail, it switched back a lot, but try to follow the chalked in arrows and you will be Ok. The finish line MC was awesome, saying your name and where you are from loud and clear with enthusiasm! I finished in 1hr 32 mins, I timed myself on my watch, but for $15 extra you can request a timing chip. I didn't make my goal of 1.5 hours but was pretty close, and didn't train too much, mostly only for the swimming portion. A check off my bucketlist, and it's local so have to be appreciative to OnYourMark Events to continuing this tradation of Sprint Triathlons in the area. The event was well organized, well staffed, had plenty friendly volunteers, and was chipped timed. Post race results and pics were made available immediately after the event and showed your times in each of the 3 disciplines and the 2 transitions. Very useful info for future events and training. The water was warmer than most pools and I never felt cold while swimming in just shorts. Check-in was quick and easy and the morning participant meeting was informative and clarified any questions you might have about the course. Easy parking and decently clean bathrooms. Great event and highly recommended. Liked it so much, I am planning on doing the August event and this time with my wife.

I think Ellen L's review really sums up everything I love about this race: Extremely organized, hassle-free bib pickup morning of the race (I got there at 7:45 AM and got my half marathon bib within 2 minutes...if you're doing a different event, however, you may want to get there earlier), free parking at start/finish, the fact that the start is also the finish, perfect weather, no race congestion (even though some parts of the course are narrow, I never had to slow down because of traffic nor did I have trouble passing other runners), free post-race photo downloads (everything is uploaded online so you can download/print yourself), and the best fuel stations and post-race food goodies ever! I was seriously shocked at how much food and goodies there were!!! Ice cream sandwiches? Fig newtons? Cookies? Gummy bears? Bagels? Watermelon? The list could go on, I'm not kidding you!!! If you're looking to PR in any of the 3 distances offered here, this is the course to do it. I do zero hill training and I usually run on a treadmill or on extremely flat terrain. If you're doing the half, the toughest part is the fact that there are only 5 aid stations and the middle three are at the 3, 6.5, and 10ish mile marks. So you definitely need to plan and hydrate/fuel yourself accordingly. I normally don't need water at the pace I was going until the 6 mi mark and some calories at the 9-10 mi mark, but because of the relatively long gaps in between stations, I forced myself to stop to get water at mi 3 and gummy bears at the halfway point. And the planning paid off as I did indeed PR this race! :) In sum, one of the most enjoyable races I've done in recent years and one I'm hoping to continue running in the years to come. A big thank you to all the volunteers helping out at the aid stations and taking photos of us runners!

Newer Eden Shores sports park - great for soccer or baseball - massive amounts of lawn is the…read morehighlight here. The soccer field is very very nice. I could see people coming from miles away to get to here. I think the best part is probably the lighting. Its very bright and very fancy. That means if the sun sets it won't put an end to your fun. There is a gym equipment section near the entrance. Good for pullups or situps or stepups. When was the last time you did some of those? Lets be honest.... Toward the back there is a play structure. Good for young kids. It wasn't too popular I think because this park is known for the fields. So might be a good option if you want fewer kids around your own kids. Tons of parking. The lot is more than large enough. Overall the park is very clean and new. Its almost surprising that it is technically Hayward, CA. You just don't expect anything that nice from this city.

The seating area and even the cement surfaces were visibly dirty, which is completely unacceptable for a place meant for children. What was especially concerning is that kids are expected to walk around in socks, while adults are walking through the same areas with dirty shoes. This creates a very unsanitary environment and exposes children to dirt and bacteria. There should be strict hygiene rules in place, but clearly there are none being enforced. Overall, the place gives off a sense of neglect and lack of responsibility when it comes to children's health and safety. It felt disgusting and not safe for kids. I would not recommend bringing children here until serious improvements are made in cleanliness and hygiene standards.

Visited Unity Park for the first time with my kids who were interested in playing Pickleball. We…read morecame at noon on a Saturday and there was plenty of parking due to the weather being on the colder/rainier side. The two lots are a bit on the small side so I imagine they would have been full on a warmer and sunnier day. There is room for activities like pickleball, soccer, running, cornhole, ping pong, and basketball, as well as open space for rollerblading, scootering, etc. While there was no playground for my toddler, he would have had a ball just riding on his scooter or bike on the smooth pavement. One suggestion I have is to add some wood or some kind of barrier to the bottom of the pickleball fence. We had several balls roll under the fence and into the parking lot next door, we noticed that some patrons put tape or other barriers at the bottom of the fence to keep this from happening. Otherwise, we had a great time!
