I am extremely disappointed with how this gymnastics facility handled my daughter's injury…read more My 6-year-old daughter injured her neck during a forward roll in the morning. Despite the injury involving her neck, no one contacted us to inform us that an incident had occurred. We only learned about it at pickup around 3:30 PM, when we noticed her neck was significantly swollen and she was in pain. We then took her to the ER, where doctors spent over 7 hours evaluating her to rule out a spinal injury. We did not get home until 3:00 AM. Thankfully, it was not a more serious injury, but the situation could have been much worse. The following day, I met with the facility to understand why we were never notified. The explanations I received were concerning. The front desk staff could not provide a clear account of what happened because different instructors worked the morning and afternoon shifts. It appeared there was little communication or proper handoff between staff members. I was surprised by how disorganized the operation seemed. I was told that staff did not re-evaluate my daughter's condition in the afternoon because she said she was "fine." She is only 6 years old. Children are not always able to accurately assess or communicate the severity of an injury, especially a neck injury. It is the responsibility of trained staff to monitor the situation and notify parents when an injury occurs. When the owner, Danielle, later joined the conversation, she stated that her staff "did exactly what they were supposed to do" and that this had been their protocol for 15 years. She also said they would pay closer attention to my daughter next time. Unfortunately, that completely misses the point. This is not just about my daughter--it is about the safety of every child in their care. Any neck injury should be treated seriously, and parents should be informed immediately. What disappointed me most was not only the lack of communication, but also the lack of accountability. Rather than acknowledging that improvements could be made, management defended a process that failed to notify parents of a potentially serious injury. As a parent, I can no longer trust this facility with my child's safety. I would strongly encourage other parents to carefully consider whether this is the level of communication and care they expect when leaving their children in someone else's supervision.

After a bit of a snafu with the constant HVAC closures at both Hesperian and Whipple, as well as a very professionally handled customer service escalation (shoutout to the amazing support from Alicia) and additional support from a swim manager (thank you Michelle) we can now happily give Waterworks an updated review! I've have now had my son in lessons with both Tay and Zane and couldn't be happier with our son's progress. We've cycled through many instructors through all our time at Waterworks but Tay and Zane have truly been the best match for my child (and we really have had cycled through 4+ instructors before due to high turnover) and we truly hope Tay and Zane are going nowhere anytime soon! My son's confidence has soared since working with both these instructors and I can't wait to see him swim even more independently. Daydreaming about him joining a swim team one day! He went from being in tears out of fear before every swim lesson to eagerly plopping himself into the pool and looking forward to class every time. And even when he does get nervous, both Tay and Zane know how to help him take deep breaths and practice other coping skills to feel less nervous. Waterworks tends to be on the more expensive side but not that much different in pricing than other swim schools in the area. Most importantly, the indoor pool is a perk as I've had friends recommend some of the local swim clubs but since they're all outdoor, the seasonality of swim wouldn't work for us. I just tell myself we are paying more for the year round access to indoor swim lessons. Thanks again to the Waterworks team especially for helping us hang in there after all the ups and downs!

HYSL is very competitive and it shows because the kids from those team would be winning games and still get angry during games because their coaches push them too hard. Don't listen to any of the negative reviews, I've noticed a pattern of the people who complain the most to coaches are also the ones who never told their kids no... If you want your kid to learn how to play soccer in a safe and friendly environment then I recommend UCYSL!

L O C A T I O N MKC Project is located in a two story house building near the Cinema Place Parking lot which is where they suggest parking as it's next to the place and it's free parking. Note if you park on the first floor it does smell like pee. You may want to go up a floor to avoid your car smelling a bit pee-like. I N S I D E Note that the place is a nut free space so make sure you don't bring any nuts as they want to make sure folks who have nut allergies have a safe space. You go through two sets of gates (one at the front, then another inside). Then go inside the place and go up a set of stairs. One room has cubby holes for your stuff. They have a restroom also and then there's a fairly spacious room for the class. C L A S S Reservations on evite and it cost roughly ~$33 for the 1.5 hour class. Make sure to reserve your spot as they do sell out. I think there's a slight discount if you sign up early. Saori Sunaga from The Ruby Slippers was our instructor who is apparently baby ARMY! She basically started learning more about them as she started teaching these BTS cover classes. She already taught Dynamite before this class. The first half hour or so we got into a circle and introduced ourselves, how we found BTS, any biases, and any other choreo we'd be interested in learning. To be honest, this was great, I loved being able to just geek out with other ARMY, but I think it also pushed us over time as we ended up going about half an hour over to learn the set of choreo for the class. Then it was class. We got into lines and we drilled the harder stuff first and took our time. I appreciated Saori slowing down the steps and making sure we were comfortable moving on. She also made sure we swapped rows though some folks ended up not going to the front which I get. I did feel the later half of the class felt a bit rushed as we were running out of time but it is what it is. When we covered what we needed to cover, she broke us up into 3 groups to do a final run through at about 0.75x the full speed. Everyone was great and cheered and just was a good place to just have some fun regardless of your level of experience. This choreo is hard but it was fun when you get it down! At the end end, for MKC's socials, folks who wanted to be part of their post did one more final run through. O V E R A L L This was so much fun. Would I do it again? Yes. Absolutely. Am I still trying to get this choreo? Yes. It's hard y'all! But it's inspired me to do more dance choreo or at least learn the rest of this particular song. It's a super supportive environment. The instructor is wonderful and supportive and encourages us to speak up if we don't get a move. The space is great. Free parking also great. Just wish this was closer to home! They do have other classes so if this kind of class doesn't suit you, they also have other dance styles. Check them out and just have fun and dance!

Jitsu Has Truly Transformed My Daughter's Confidence…read more Choosing Jitsu for my daughter was intentional. I wanted her to learn how to protect herself -- and if needed, to protect her little sister and her friends. I wanted her to grow up knowing she was strong, aware, and capable. What I didn't realize was how much more this journey would give her. When she first joined, she was shy and uncertain, but everything changed once she stepped onto the mat and into a community that believed in her. Having her best friend there made the experience even more special. They pushed each other, laughed through tough drills, and grew side by side in ways only true teammates can. Now it's been two years and counting, and she's still not sick of it -- not even close. If anything, she loves it more than when she started. That alone tells you they're doing something completely right. One of the biggest takeaways she's held onto is: "Never cry on the mat." And she takes it very literally -- but honestly, it's not a bad thing. For her, it means fight harder, stay focused, and don't give up. We get it... but let's be real, moms are absolutely allowed to cry on the sidelines. As a mom, it still scares me watching her train and compete -- that feeling never truly goes away. But her confidence has grown so strong that she's now the one asking me to sign her up for competitions. Seeing her walk onto the mat with purpose and pride is something I never imagined two years ago. I have to give so much credit to Jorge, Coach Chris, and Coach Brandon. They prepare her for every competition with patience, discipline, and unwavering belief in her. They've helped shape her into a girl who isn't afraid to push herself, challenge herself, and trust her own strength. Because of them, my heart is at ease a little more each time she competes. Jitsu didn't just teach her self-defense -- it opened a whole new world inside her. One filled with courage, growth, friendship, and confidence. Watching her transform has been one of the greatest gifts, and for that, I am endlessly grateful.
