Sisig is pretty good. It's just how I remember from many years ago in the Philippines. The only thing missing is the tabasco for the extra zing and spice. We tried a couple of isaw, too, and yes those are quite good too. This will be a spot to go to everytime we're in Reno.

11 7 Tambayan makes me so happy because it reminds me so much of home. I grew up in a Philippino American family and enjoyed many of these same dishes. I'm someone who really loves garlic and the garlic rice couldn't have hit the spot for nostalgia more. It was my all time favorite way to enjoy rice when it had at least a cup of garlic in it lol! And of course the main favorites are Lumpia, Pork Adobo, Pancit, and Chicken Curry. My titas and titos always made the best food, including my favorite dessert which is Babinka. There is also a Philippino market inside where I found Ube ice cream and cookies and so many other treats that were constantly brought over to the house. Everything is so clean and organized and the service was excellent. I highly recommend a visit or two, or a hundred I know that I can't wait to go back!

Sushi at a Filipino place? Who woulda thunk it? I haven't been to Tambayan before now because I just haven't been drawn to Filipino food that much. But I am always up for a new sushi experience and I heard they had just started a "soft opening" for their sushi bar. We starved ourselves before coming in so we could get through as much of the menu as possible. They are still in super soft opening phase. Working out any kinks that they have is a priority and you could tell because the head sushi chef was very attentive, making sure everything was to our liking, even suggesting a few rolls for us to try. He let us know his history and what they are hoping to do in the future. Here is the list of different things we ordered... Cucumber Salad Mussels Pork Egg Rolls Yellow Tail Nigiri Tuna Nigiri Salmon Nigiri Lemon Valley Roll Godzilla Roll (minus cream cheese) Ceviche Roll Adobo Chicken Baked Roll (half size) Spicy Salmon Hand Roll Ikura Upside Down Shrimp (scallop) Peach Dream Dessert Turon w Langka Dessert Everything was fine. No real complaints on anything. My favorites were the Ceviche Roll and the Mussels. The flavor profile on both of those was more unique than what I had expected. There were also a handful of rolls that I would definitely want to come back and try in the future. The price point is a little higher than what we normally pay for our AYCE sushi, but I think the unique offerings on the menu like the egg rolls make it worth the small upcharge. The interior of the place is interesting. You can see how the building has progressed over the years from a Mexican joint to what it is now. A little less "themed" than a themed restaurant, but also not the boring formica and white walls so many businesses seem to settle for today. I feels real mom and pop in a good way. Our server/waitress was super friendly and always there to clean up the dishes at just the right time. I would definitely go back for the sushi...especially if they are going to be getting all of the kinks worked out. They also offer a "best of both worlds" where you can have the Buffet for $10 on top of the AYCE sushi price. The real question is....will this become a "go to" for my sushi needs like a few other places in Reno?

First off, I wanna say to the Owners of this establishment, I Guess, good job but try a bit with more quality of foods such as the lechon kawali, more skin please Naman, This place does has the ambience of the Philippines by hanging out with family and Barkadaz. But try to accommodate more authentication to the kababayan. Longsilog was Delicious but rushing here in the morning was kind of worth it. Can't wait to try to open a Seafood City here in Reno to give what the Filipinos want ...But only 3.dishes to me needs to be more on point. Lechon Kawali, Chicken wings and the Kare Kare...

I guess that the 2nd time's the charm...LOL! After trying the buffet the first time I dropped by and having no idea what I ate...but, liking everything...I posted my original review on some local "foodie" pages on social media. Lo and behold...one of the chefs that works there saw my review and responded. He told me that the next time I came in, to ask for him and that he'd "walk me through" all the ins and out of Filipino cuisine (including the sauces/condiments), as well as clueing me in as to what the dishes were that were offered on the buffet that day (it changes daily)! I made it a point to do just that...BUT, it turns out that the day I went in, he was off from work...LOL! Fortunately, after asking for him and explaining why I was asking for him to the gentleman that seated me, the host offered to clue me in...which he did...very thoroughly and in great detail, I might add. It was nice to know what I was eating and what sauces/condiments were traditionally used on each dish! Those sauces/condiments added another whole dimension of flavor to everything I used them on and made everything even better than the first time I went in. This time (as I said, the offerings change daily), they had some dishes that I was familiar with. Delicious, crispy, flavorful Lumpia...roasted and deep fried Pork Belly...also, one of my faves, Sisig! It was such a pleasure to experience these foods with the right sauce/condiment added to it! I plan to go back to experience the buffet again and also to drop in during the evening to try their a la carte menu. Give it a try and see what YOU think...

We've gone there quite a few times and their buffet it's a hit or miss. There are days we went that the buffet style dishes were really great and there were days that they weren't up to par. It seems whenever the male chef is there the food at the buffet is really good. My daughter and I go there whenever we're in mood for Sinigang and Lechon Kawali. I would like to see more chicken in the menu, especially with the Sinigang. When you order a la carte though, everything is made fresh and tasty and you have more choices from the menu. On Saturdays the buffet dishes they have are seafood based and most of the dishes are made of fish, squid and shrimp. Their halo-halo is hugely portioned and really tasty. Even with 3 people sharing, we still couldn't finish it. Your best bet is to order the halo-halo to go as it is more individual sized and you'll be able to finish it. The staff are attentive and friendly. It seems the best time to go and eat at the buffet is early lunch or early dinner as the dishes are coming out fresh. As for the place itself, it could use some sprucing the up and add more lighting. When you walk in, it is obvious that the place is aged and on the dimly lit side. All in all, it's not a bad place to eat at, otherwise I wouldn't have been a repeat customer.

Hate to do this but if honesty was the key, here it is. Service was polite, but the buffet was cold and low, didn't even bring out fresh food the whole time we were there, so we haven't been back since. Hopefully it's changed, but it was way better before they changed to the buffet read more

I've been here several times, and every visit has been a great experience. The staff makes you feel like you're part of the family, and it's a fantastic spot to bring friends or family for a fun, laid-back meal. They offer pool tables, karaoke, buffet, and a small store with filipino snacks so there's something for everyone to enjoy. If you haven't been yet, definitely give it a try and support this local gem - they truly deserve it! read more

We had an overall great experience. We had the buffet. The food was tasty but it was all cold. Staff were very nice. Overall the ambience of this place feels like it's a bar and the food was an afterthought. They need to just put more a little more thought into their food and their presentation. read more

I had a craving for adobo & this place definitely hit the spot. The chicken adobo was very tasty unfortunately the rice was a bit hard. I came at noon & they had a lunch buffet for $20- I only wanted adobo so I opted for the 1 item with rice option to go. The portion was kinda small but I guess for almost $11 it was appropriate? All that to say the adobo was good enough for me to return! read more

I am happy that we have a new Filipino restaurant in the area. This restaurant still has room for improvement. As what other reviews said the soup bowl they are using is too small. Its a sauce bowl NOT a soup bowl. Some of the food are salty especially the Laing with dilis. I think the price is high for the food they are serving. I just wish that instead of making excuses - LISTEN TO THE CUSTOMERS because at the end of the day - it will be a word of mouth and its not gonna help for a new business to have a bad review. read more

I don't necessarily agree with that scathing/fanatical review from Gem-I don't think that is an accurate experience. I was there yesterday with some friends for the breakfast buffet. The offerings were great, all the breakfast staples were there like jeprox, danggit, itlog na maalat, tocino, longanisa etc etc. The kare kare was textbook. Food was fresh when I got there. For anyone to call the food gross clearly does not have real exposure to Filipino food-you cannot characterize authentically prepared food as "gross" or "nasty" unless you are a bigot. Reno was really in need of a place like this, filipino food is few and far between in this town. Just grateful that this place exists. Also the karaoke is awesome! read more

Lots of red flags.. with cleanliness and sanitation. The menu that was served shows like it's just being reheated since they change their menus daily.. lots of dry/stale food out in their hot cases.. so many room for improvement.. we went there and we had to figure out how to do the buffet.. no one checked us in.. they just ignored us and didn't follow up if we need something.. we had to ask for drinks.. customer service was below zero. So rude and they just walk around and ignored us. We were not welcomed at all.. read more

Love this place. We found it while visiting Reno the weekend of August night. If you're staying at a nearby casino, this place is a good stop to cure your hangover with servings of shrimp sinigang, and your typical seafood dishes from adobo squid to shrimp ginataan. For Filipino buffet - we're shock to find that most of their dishes were seafood, so it's worth the hefty price of just under $30. Don't forget to finish your dining experience with a nice cold matcha boba. read more

It's about time a Filipino buffet opens in Reno, 20 price for a Filipino buffet is very worth and is affordable, people that complains about this is too expensive doesn't know how much ingredients and cooking it takes to make one dish of Filipino food and to make more than 10 dishes of Filipino food is cheap for what they are charging. Food is very good, I've been here multiple times and each time I come, it's always a good experience, staff's very friendly and very attentive. Definitely recommend this place, That Gem V. That took the time to take photos and wrote nothing but bad things to say about this place sounds like just a hater, I heard a lot of compliments and good talk about this place, my family and friends love coming and eating here, I'm pretty sure they won't miss you business Gem V. read more

I got the new manginasal style chicken and it was delicious, I've been looking for a place that offers this since forever! I also tried the leche flan to go but I kinda spilled all of the extra syrup on the way home so it was a little drier than I wanted it was yummy either ways! Service was great as usual. The worst Filipino food in Reno food . I ordered the kare kare,the meat was so hard and uncooked it was terrible, three pieces of uncooked meat for $20. Worst experience I've had in Reno for Filipino food. We got there around 5ish looked at the all you can eat food and it looked like it's been sitting there all day even look like food from the day before. read more

The food is ok but lots of empty trays in the buffet line. The atmosphere of the restaurant was very smoky inside. We also called the restaurant and asked what they had on the menu and everything we were told, they did not have but we decided to give them a try anyway. When we arrived no one took our order for our drinks or greeted us or anything. We had to wave a few people down in order to just get some waters. Also, the bowls that they offer for sinigang is very small! I saw someone else complaining about this too and a server told them it's because it's all you can eat. Exactly it's all you can eat so why not provide bigger bowls? Not sure I'll be back but I wish this business well as this spot always has a different business owner. read more

Food is hit or miss. Food made to order is mediocre, unsatisfying to anyone craving food "like mom used to make". Food made for the buffet is less than alright, and with the lack of filipino food served in reno, it is of upmost importance that the representation of the culture is not dry, bland, and stale as the buffet food here. The service is subpar, having come once as a big party, and once alone. As a party, service was average and on par with what would be expected from any respectable business, but coming in alone the service was non existent. The atmosphere upon walking in is grey, colorless, and quite depressing to be frank. The overall vibe of the restaurant reminds me of an asian drama featuring an impoverished filipino household. If preparation time for food made to go could be decreased, and the prices made more realistic for the quality of food being provided, I might even consider giving 3 stars, to reflect the experience in its entirety; AVERAGE. Perhaps even 3.5 if the front of house staff weren't completely indifferent. read more

What a fantastic idea since the front dining area is cozy with limited seating, but the spot has access to the larger dining area in the common space behind the store front, and the fully operational kitchen. Currently Thali operates their Indian cuisine pop up on Saturday, Sunday and Monday nights from 6-9 pm. I'm waiting to see what other pop ups take the remaining nights. Pop ups have been around for the last several years and I really enjoy the variety they bring to the Reno area. We also got the beignets, which came with a nice bourbon sauce, but sadly a few of them weren't cooked all the way through. The interior was very bright (lots of windows) and clean, and the service team behind the counter was very pleasant. Also, I thought the price was fantastic for the special--like $14.95-for a very satisfying and overall well-made meal. We'll be back to try other stuff on the menu.

Kimchi dumpling soup has Taiwanese Cabbage, Pork Slices, Kimchi, Dumpling, Vermicelli, Mini Sausage, Shrimp, Enoki Mushroom, Kamaboko, Tempura, Clam, Fuzhou Fishball, Soft Tofu, Fried Tofu Skin, Zucchini, Imitation Crabmeat, Egg, Scallion in a Pork bone soup. Yes that is just one dish. No wonder it tastes so good. Crunchy, spicy, savory in the rich broth is something you should try. Shrimp tempura with a spicy dipping sauce is her favorite. This is an excellent appetizer. Fried rice is my absolute favorite and the chicken version here is fabulous and makes an excellent breakfast the next morning! Then there is the tiger boba Let's talk....this is so rich and creamy it should be illegal but thank goodness it's not. Check out the picture, you can gain a pound or so just from the picture. Don't miss out on this amazing treat. Our server has always been helpful and suggested dishes for us to try. Great suggestions. Your pot will have a heater inside that I suggest you ask to be turned off as soon as it arrives. Don't worry your pot will still be plenty hot to enjoy. We were visiting the area and were craving Filipino cuisine. After conducting some research online, we decided to dine at this establishment. Prior to our arrival, we diligently checked the operating hours and buffet schedule to ensure that our visit would not be in vain. Upon our arrival, we noticed that the front counter was unattended, despite hearing conversations from the back of the restaurant. We politely informed the staff member that we were interested in the buffet, only to be informed that it was not being served that day. This news was met with great disappointment on our part. We then requested the menu, but the staff member took an unusually long time to retrieve it, prompting us to leave the restaurant due to the extended wait. The overall experience was rather unpleasant, and while we acknowledge that the staff maybe nice people, their service left much to be desired. The establishment itself appeared somewhat rundown, although it was clean and organized. Despite these factors, we do not intend to return to this restaurant in the future. It lacked the vibrant and welcoming atmosphere that is typically associated with Filipino restaurants in cities like Las Vegas, California, and other locations. read more

Came here a few days ago with my wife to check out what changed. Although there is still a bit of essence from the previous restaurant, I can say that the environment overall has improved. I appreciate the approach of a little hangout with some authentic food. From what I saw, the buffet had a variety of options. It wasn't set up overly fancy, but you can tell the effort that was put into the dishes. Going to the actual food part, I really enjoyed the pancit and lumpia. I might have played it safe with my meal considering the fact that I was not familiar with most of the items. My wife said that what she ate was not bad, more like satisfactory (I believe she got the dinuguan and menudo?). We did also try their halo-halo and kudos to whoever made it! I'll definitely be going there again just to get another one read more
