Today we passed through good ole Raton NM and we came across this cute little expresso cafe and let me just say....Best decision we've made during this long drive to Denver. The manager and staff were super friendly, the food was absolutely delicious and the coffee was even better!!!! We got the breakfast burrito and it hit the spot perfectly!! The green chiles had a wonderful kick to them that pulled the burrito together perfectly! Highly recommend this place!!!!! read more

Breakfast burrito is worth the drive from the highway. Excellent salsa. Baked goods were mostly gone by 10AM on a Saturday--they were good, but sold out fast. People were still coming in for them after they were sold out. Cute little town to drive around! read more

I love this coffee shop! Joan, the owner, is a very nice, outgoing person. She also ensures that the coffee products sold are of the best quality possible. I love to get a 12 oz. Great place for 'barista quality' coffee and espresso drinks; hot or iced. A new lunch menu exists and the sandwiches are not only filling, but fresh and the homemade bread is devine! We were lucky to spot this on a Thursday afternoon while driving 2nd Street (the main drag of downtown Raton) searching for the Ice House. The Ice House was closed (apparently it opens late, for dinner) but we were quite happy with this two year old cafe, espresso bar, and gallery/shop. The cafe is located where the Silver Dollar bar used to be and still contains some of the original fixtures. They have free WiFi which is an added bonus. My soy, iced latte was smooth and flavorful. They get fresh beans from Spanish Peaks Coffee Roasters, in Pueblo. They do not have a kitchen but serve a small menu of grilled panini, sandwiches, and wraps, as well as breakfast sandwiches. We tried the Oriental Chicken Salad and the Chicken Caesar Wrap. The chicken in the salad was a tad dry but the dressing was good and both were fresh and tasty. They had a variety of muffins and pastries but we did not sample any as we had stocked up in Santa Fe for our drive north to CO. I'm happy to have found a good place to stop in Raton as the options are rather limited! The owners are friendly and we hope they continue to expand their offering. read more

We ordered two sausage and egg burritos and a ham and egg panini. The burritos were filled (99%) with potatoes and little to no egg or sausage. Very disappointing. The ham and egg panini....literally had one VERY THIN slice of ham and maybe one small egg. The coffee was good and our server was polite. Wanted to support a local business enroute to Colorado but this was a miss for breakfast. read more

Was hungry early morning on the I25, so I stopped here. Seems like mostly a coffee place. Hatch chili was really good, but I think it needs more substance to really enjoy it. Two pieces of bread, a thin egg, and cheese. A birds breakfast. read more

If you are tired of the hamburgers, french fries this is the place to eat. Stopped on our way back to Colorado. What a wonderful little restaurant. I had the spinach salad with walnuts, cranberries with chicken my husband had the roast beef green chili panini. Both were delicious. We found Enchanted Grounds while in Raton in 2009. We went with my grandmother-in-law's coffee club. We had great coffee and free Wi-fi, plus there's outlets to plug in your computer. A cup of coffee is a great deal--cheaper and better than McDonald's with a much better atmosphere. The drinks are a good price and the kids love the italian creme sodas. My husband went daily last week to connect to the internet and get a good cup of coffee. He met lots of locals while there. Highly recommended! read more

One of my favorite little places to visit in Raton! Each time I come to Raton to visit I always make sure to stop here at least one morning. Now that they are under new ownership, everything is great! Food is good and they have great drinks. So many to choose from that's the hardest part. The staff is sooo friendly. The hot chocolate was wonderful. Not only was it creamy and tasty but it had a hint of nuts in it. The french toast was also delicious and homemade, too. Friendly staff and although it seemed to be a one-man operation our waiter handled the food and drink making quite well. The breakfast sandwiches were also quite tasty. enchanted grounds is a very great place i think the coffee tastes better then starbucks the food is great they have things like sundryed tomato pesto panneneys this is my personal favorite me and my friend go there every once in a whil i work for joan in the summer and became very good friends with her this is a great place to go so if you ever go threw raton go to enchanted grounds you will not regret it read more
