Cute castle like winery. They have downstairs and upstairs seating. They also have outside seating. It is also dog friendly. We were greeted at the door with a sample of sparkling Sauvignon blanc. Then I tried the Texas Riesling, Muscat and Sangria slush. They have some sweet wines and some dry wines. I preferred the dry. The sangria slush is popular as this is a little sweet and perfect for Texas summer days. I noticed they have special events. They have dungeon tastings. Wonderful winery in the heart of Hill Country. The owners are kind and make you feel instantly welcome. I met a group of friends who are Legacy members here and got the tour of the new Tent City which has glamping tents. Complete with showers, AC and heat. They looked sweet! I am one of the least outdoorsy person there is and I'm excited to stay in one. Back to the winery... I decided to do a tasting which included four red wines and two white wines. I liked the pacing between the rounds. it was a busy Memorial Day weekend and Michael (I think that was his name) was adept at making sure everyone had a drink in their hands while explaining the different varietals and the story of each wine. 12 Fires is also dog friendly so we got to pet some sweet dogs. We had a lovely afternoon and tried some excellent wines. The charcuterie plate is also worth getting to nosh on between tastings. I'm already looking forward to my next visit! read more

So this review is more about their Tent City than the winery itself. My wife and I found ourselves Blanco and needed a place to stay the night. She did a little searching and found 12 Fires Tents City (not sure if that's the official name but that's how they refer to it on their website). Made a reservation on line and headed that way. When we got there, the tasting room was closed, as it is on Thursday's, and it was a Thursday. But one of the owners, Mike Nance, was there. He said the tents were ready so he offered us a glass or two of wine while they were being prepared. We visited with some other couples also waiting on our tents. Good conversation and an exceptional glass, or two, of Maroon III. On to the tents. 5 seemingly identical large tents on set up on a wood deck platform. Some have a queen bed and some have two twins. Mini fridge, Keurig, microwave and a nice bathroom. For real. I'm 6'2" and fit just fine in the shower. And hot water. A small desk and two chairs if you need. A nice front deck with chairs. But this tent is also air conditioned. One of those portable ones but worked great. Temp out was on high 60's so can't speak for a Texas summer night. The 5 tents are on semi circle sorta with a fire pit in the middle. I had a fire going about dark 30 and in a little while, 4 couples who didn't know each other 2 hrs earlier were talking, laughing and having a good time. It rained during the night and no one leak. Dogs are welcome if. It encouraged. We can't wait to go back, on a night the tasting room is open. read more

First, I love this winery is Aggie owned and operated! Whoop! I want the Whoop and Saw 'em off bottles so badly! Ok, onto my visit...exceptional service and extensive knowledge of the products. I wish the tasting bar had some bar stools but maybe they want you hanging out in the cool outdoor area instead of the bar :). I fully enjoyed learning about their wines and tasting them. read more

So excited to see how much this place has evolved! I first went to 12 fires back in 2020 when it was just a trailer and a picnic table and the experience was incredible. The owner was so welcoming and made the tasting experience 10/10. He told us every detail about his wine/winery and you could tell he was extremely passionate. Coming back in 2023 and seeing how much they have grown is amazing. They truly deserve all the success coming their way. I love this place and will keep coming back and supporting their business. My personal favorite wine from here has got to be Besito. Their tastings are $20 and it comes with 6 wines. read more

Stayed here for two nights in their Tent City in late September. Tents were clean and well equipped - facilities as good as in a hotel room with the exception of the AC. Unless you're spending time in your tent during the day, this won't be an issue. When we got back at 7pm the tent had cooled down and was perfectly fine by the time we went to bed without the need to use the AC at all. (Temps during our stay: high 92 low 59.) Enjoyed two nights sat next to the campfire making s'mores. Great to meet other glampers. You can hear traffic on the 290, but it's not as bad as you think from some reviews. Tasted their wines before we left - just as good as the glamping and Duke was a great host! We'll be back. read more

I'm so excited to see what the future holds for this winery. I think great things are in store. I met Mike at an event at Austin Humane Society and loved the wines. I bought a bottle of Blanc de Bois from the event. I made a mental note to come by on my next trip to the 290 wine trail. I was given a couple of free tasting passes for attending the event so that cemented it for me. They are pretty kitschy with their whole Texas A&M vibe--but in a cute and friendly way. I think Longhorns might be welcome :-). The new tasting room isn't open yet, but it looks fantastic. The little tasting trailer that they are using right now is small but comfortable. The peach Bellini (Frozen Fred) is delightful! I would have gotten a to-go container of that stuff if I wasn't driving. read more

This stop surprised me as I was not sure what to expect for what to see here. I found the massive banner outside the main gate leading down to the path to the "tasting room"...which is actually just a long, narrow, fully decked out trailer/conex container. Easy to miss if you don't know what to look for coming off the parking lot. Michael Nance was my host and this guy is awesome. I got to try everything on the tasting list and then some. I truly liked most of what I had including the white wines I tried which is rare for me. Mike sure knows his stuff when it comes to the business and his vision of 12 Fires plans. Its inspiring to hear him talk about it. I was here on my own but meeting two other customers who came in for wine pick-ups turned out to be quite fun as well as we tasted our wines new and norm alike. For me, the Maroon is amazing and the Calaboose dessert wine they have is crazy good!...I am not a sweet kind of wine person either. I really love how innovative and adventurous these guys are here. Trying new grapes and new things most are not yet doing. Mike told me they plan to have what looks like a stunning tasting room done and open by late summer this year. Despite having port o pots for restrooms and small tasting room at the moment. This place has huge things happening. The reds were great. Especially the Tempranillo. We got a bottle to go. The sangria is great and the Besito for the sweet tasting wine lovers. This is very rustic. Go with an open mind. Check them out. read more

This winery is so fun! It's real and not snooty. The people are nice, the wines are delicious! And they are Texas wines/vines. Definitely fun to come to with friends and be yourself.
