Let me start by saying that we stumbled upon this place. We were on our way out of town and decided to stop for lunch. What a happy happenstance! We ordered a Greek salad and a Morty sandwich. We were so surprised we could order delicious wine along with our food. As a bonus, we met the owner, Daniel, who was not only kind but extremely knowledgeable of all things wine. What a warm, hospitable place! The food was delicious and the portions were so generous we couldn't finish our lunch. Needless to say we will be coming by every time we are even remotely close. It is delicious and definitely worth the drive. I only wish we had a place like this close to us. Truly, this place is amazing. You would be foolish to pass it up. Okay, let's get into it! Location- right off of 290 between Hye and Johnson City. I loved this location. They have an amazing patio area. It's really beautiful a great place. The inside is just as nice. They had some great trees forbus to park under for shade. Service- I came with a group on a wine tour they offered us gumbo that they had available. They were fairly nice as well. Packing / products- Taste- this was a bonus stop on our tour so I didn't have an opportunity to taste any wine but those with me really enjoyed the wines. Super friendly server and great location. This is a fun winery that advertises a lot of events and offers "wine cocktails" which my wife really enjoyed. It is keg wine so it comes out of spouts on the wall and they fill a bottle for you if you buy one. This was different and I don't know enough about wine to know if it helps or not. I really liked the laid back feel. This doesn't have the pho-Tuscan Vegas facade that some of the bigger places have put up, but it is a fun lil hill country spot with a good sized deck, small indoor area and lots of shade to play corn hole or let kids run around. The wine was good - we shared a tasting which is what we usually do before buying a glass - each was a good sized pour and I thought they were going to charge us for two but good sized pour is just how they roll. Cozy winery tucked away. Dog friendly even though I didn't get to meet the resident winery dog. I got the cocktail sampler for $18 and it was a great deal. You practically get 4 drinks. My favorite is probably the white cattywampus (sangria) and my bf enjoyed the margarita. Their wine is unique here because they have them in steel canisters and tap it that way. I know I'm probably describing this wrong, so more reason to check it out! read more

This was an unplanned, spontaneous stop on my most recent visit to the Texas/290 Wine Trail. I was not disappointed. I've seen this place from the roadway for many years, but I thought it was more of a party place because it advertised how late they stay open. They may be a party place, but I was still impressed. While there, my friend and I were the only patrons. We had a nice visit with the server (who was the owner, maybe?). He was super nice and knowledgeable. We wound up eating lunch there and buying a few bottles. It's a different sort of place for sure, but our experience was nice. They also have resident dogs and cats that we got to hang with. Vinovium is a real standout amongst the growing list of wineries and tasting rooms along 290. My wife and I have visited many of them since buying a house in the area over a year ago. What I love about Vinovium are all the great events they put on. From lounge takeovers, where winemakers give tastings of their wine, to stand-up comedy, to Trivia nights. The owner and staff are all super welcoming and so knowledgeable about wine. They've got a large selection of rotating wines on tap and you can get a bottle filled there to take home that can be brought back to reduce on waste, which is another plus in my book. We'd only visited a couple times before we were sold on joining their membership club. And since then we've enjoyed hanging out and feeling like we're part of the family. Trivia night was such a blast. And it's on the same night as their Prime rib dinner which was out of this world - check out my pictures. For a change of pace from your ordinary winery/wine bar, I highly recommend a visit. There's really no other place like this around here. read more

Such a friendly atmosphere, and the wine on tap and wine cocktails really hit the spot. I'm partial to their reds like Ocotillo, Sketch, and Syrah. Love that they are open later than others and their fun programming like trivia, stand up comedy, opera uncorked, etc. There's even a ping pong table and giant Jenga, and it's kid and dog friendly. We enjoy stopping in on our way from Austin to Fredericksburg and vice versa. read more

I highly recommend this place to anyone looking for something good and a bit different in Texas wine country. They have some amazing wine...on tap! Do not pass up the Columbia Valley Gewürztraminer--it's refreshing and delicious in all the right ways. They also have wine cocktails. No liquor. Just wine. And they are fantastic! I suggest the El Niño, it's similar to a Dark & Stormy. The Old fashioned one is good too. Did I mention they were open late?!?! On a final note, I have to say that the bartender Tori is amazing! She ran a busy Saturday night on Easter weekend like it was nothing and took fantastic care of our group (all service industry veterans). Love this place! This is not your typical winery and tasting room. This is a WInery and Negotiant, meaning they partner with other wineries to offer a wide variety of flavors. Not worth the stop. We came as part of a wine tour and this was our worst stop. They were rude to my friends who paid for drinks and bottles of wine (separate from what was offered with the tour) and would not allow them to sit with us because we came as part of the tour and the table was for "paying guests". Additionally food was withheld from our group, but they explained it was because they could make $15 a plate off of other guests. It was just a bit tacky to explain it that way and made us uncomfortable. On a more positive note, I thought a couple of wines were good, but given the competition in the area and the blatant price gouging, I would take my business elsewhere. read more
