Was referred here by some friends and so glad we decided to stop in. It isn't a sit down restaurant, but you order at the counter. Don't let that turn you away. Food was delicious. I ordered their shrimp & grits which was one of the best I have had. My husband ordered the 1220 burger and didn't leave a crumb on the plate. On the way out we tried their freshly baked cookies, peanut butter and chocolate and which chocolate macadamia. They were crunchy on the outside and soft in the middle. I have been going here since they opened and the owner and employees are always polite, the atmosphere is pleasing. I have ordered the same thing for years and the last several trips my order has been different every single time. Hopefully they get this figured out. On our last full day of a week at a cabin at Lake Martin, we rolled south to Tallassee to have lunch at the 1220 Café. The place is larger than it looks from the outside, although you'll likely not be near a window. It is clean from the front to the bathrooms. Order at the counter and they'll give you a numbered card to display at your table, then they'll deliver your food when it's ready. I had a Reuben, with fries. The sandwich was better than average, but not exemplary. It should have been toasted/grilled better and was just barely warm...the strong-tasting cheese wasn't melted. Self-serve Coke products, which is always a good thing. Forks, spoons, straws, and ketchup are also "grab your own" at the back of the eatery. I'd definitely return, as there are hardly any decent places to eat in Tallassee that we could find. I'll try a burger next time and hope that it is hotter than the sandwich. read more

The food is amazing! However, one Male worker who was preparing our custard and food did not wear a mask at all. I felt this endangered the lives of all in the restaurant. Also they did not have chocolate custard. Every other worker wore a mask except for this Male worker, not following CDC guidelines. Always saw your place but never stopped in thinking, 'gotta hurry, gotta hurry.' So, after getting stuck on the other side of the bridge because of a parade the other day, and as a result the McDonald's being crowded when I finally got across, I went on up the road thinking...Hardees. Saw your remodeled front and available parking and pulled in. What a surprise. Beautiful inside, and expansive. The food and selection was excellent. I will be back, and bring people. This is a nice gem in a small town that does not normally get this type of food. Many on the small town Restaurants are buffet style Restaurants with greasy fried foods and other food items that sit under a heat lamp, sometimes for hours. It is not the fault of the patrons, it is just a lack of choices. This place give the variety and clean tasting food that people deserve. The staff is all nice and courteous and will make you feel like you are home eating with mom and dad. I know when I come back into town that I will stop back in for more choices on their menu. This place was amazing. The location is minute off the interstate and near the facility we were visiting. The establishment is really clean and many selections. I had the New Orleans burger. The taste was great. I never had a better burger. I will have a tough time finding one to top It off but will keep looking!!! Service was great and the staff was very attentive to the groups need. Tallassee is a small town but this is a great choice for healthy, good sandwiches and soups etc. They also have really good desserts. another rarity in the area is their combo of really good coffee and milkshakes! There's a Dairy Queen down the road but if you want a custom, quality shake, stop here.
