Apart of my "Omaha coffee trials" reviews, I plan to review all coffee shops in Omaha! I LOVEEEEEE the ambiance that this place has, it makes you feel like you have stepped into another universe. It's quiet, has a small amount of sunlight that comes in and brightens the place up, and there's seating upstairs that looks over the lower level seating. It's gorgeous inside. They carry local baked goods like Osos baked goods and they also have ice cream which I find fun! Their coffee syrup selection is vast, if you like a fun syrup you need to come here. The espresso was a little too sour for me, I did like the flavor combo of white mocha and sugar cookie though! They also have alternative milks which I appreciate. We each had a cream cheese danish that was SO good, the barista even warmed it up for us. It was a lovely experience! read more

13th street coffee hasn't changed a bit since I left. I'm glad they are still in business and the vibe is the same! So many late nights coming here to study during college, my friends and I made so much memories here. Such a local gem in Old market! My favorite drink are Italian soda with cream and Turtle Latte! They have an extensive menu of drinks and there is options for everyone! Service here is always so friendly and helpful! Parking is on the street, can be tough during the weekend. Another great cozy outing to 13th street! Figured I'd update the review to include food since I got a panini this time. I wish I remembered the exact name of the sandwich, but I don't - it was the one with mozzarella, pesto, tomato, etc. It's been one of my favorite sandwiches for years. I'm not sure exactly what it is about it that makes it so perfect, maybe it's just impossible for anything to taste bad in such a cozy environment. Everything was delicious as always! read more

I'm a vegetarian. I had the veggie panini and Hawaiian vacation smoothie. Both were excellent. Their smoothies are fruit and juice, so no dairy, which is a good option. The veggie panini really was outstanding. The veggies tasted very fresh and the pesto had perfect flavor. I was impressed. The staff were nice, and friendly. Overall, seems like a great little cafe for Omaha, and I will be back! read more

Cool vibes and lots of options! I only got to stop for a coffee and sweet treat, but this place seems like a cozy coffee shop where you can sit down and read a good book for a long time. I got the May special - Midnight Rose Coffee - it was SO good and truly had a slight hint of rose taste.. YUM! The best? As always they had a GF item I needed try! It was the blueberry lemon scone. While the flavor was delicious, it did taste like it had been sitting out for a week... that was disappointing. The unique? I ordered a small London Fog with oat milk and two pumps of French vanilla syrup. It was delicious but SO OVERPRICED $7.39 before tip. It was $8ish and I said "are you sure?" The barista said there was an up charge for the oat milk, which I expected but it still didn't make sense according to the menu. I can't justify spending this much on a 12oz drink again. So disappointing. read more

13th street is kind of just an Omaha coffee staple. So that's where it gets its "buzz," but honestly, I've not been super impressed with their coffee in the past. At least, their lattes and other sugary versions. I haven't had their coffee in awhile, so I can't remember my impression of their beans. The atmosphere is laid back and then building has had its fair share of wear and tear, but it's still a comfortable spot for studying and chatting! Usually great service! read more

Went there for coffee on Saturday morning and enjoyed the experience. The ambience is very warm, old books, nice furniture, very cozy feel. The Barista was very pleasant and professional and made some good coffees. Ordered the specials, Chunky Monkey and Grand Slam, iced. The drinks tasted perfect for a hot summer day and the Barista was able to adjust it out specific requests. Also got a chocolate croissant, was okay, probably became soft and little soggy after being nuked in the microwave. Overall good experience, Will definitely go back for the drinks and service. read more

I was excited to try this place, but I was so disappointed by the coffee. The baristas were very friendly and helpful, and the ambiance is nice. But my vanilla latte tasted like watery sugary milk- no coffee taste to it at all. I just couldn't drink it. My friend ordered the seasonal special coffee with lavender, but they were out of lavender, so they used rose. She said hers was not bad, but was very minimally coffee flavored too. It was drinkable, though. The highlight was the avocado chocolate brownie with strawberry frosting, made by Veg-edible. The barista said it was her favorite, and I can definitely see why- wow! I've been coming here for year, but tapered off because the service was going down a bit. However, THEYRE UNDER NEW OWNERSHIP and it could not be better. 13th street has great coffee, a small but robust selection of food and snacks, and you can choose from a variety of coffee bean options to take home and enjoy as well! There's an upstairs and downstairs, so you can figure out the vibe that you'd like to study or just simply chat with friends. Because there's food options (and ice cream) it's also a great place to hunker down and get massive amounts of work done without leaving -- ideal for a Sunday! read more

Unfortunately I would not recommend this coffee spot. The vibe being attempted is clearly a hip, laid back, eclectic coffee shop. The furniture and the physical setting aren't clean or cute enough to achieve that goal which just leaves it feeling like a random mess of tables and homemade art. The lighting in the upstairs section is so bright it's insane and the main floor is so dark you can hardly do homework once the sunlight is gone. The ambiance just makes no sense to me. As for the coffee: overpriced and not very good :( I want to like local spots but this one just does not do it for me. A medium hot chocolate was 5.75 and not that good... no whipped cream or anything special. Tasted about the same as the mix you buy at the store. I know prices are high right now with inflation, but I don't think the quality of the drinks matches the price. Baristas have been kind every time I've been here. You can also only order the specialty lattes in a size large which runs you over $7. Last time I got a specialty coffee is tasted awful. It was somehow both incredibly bitter and overly sweet. I'd suggest heading over to Hardy or Zen instead. read more

I was torn between 3 stars and 2....perhaps I defaulted to 2 stars out of disappointment of the coffee itself. The place itself is well located, quaint, and has a great independent coffee shop charm. The young woman (owner, most likely) was friendly and re-made my cappuccino without complaint. However....it was as if no real attempt was made to be dedicated to this craft. At every point, it was lacking. -originally, when I was given a cappuccino, it was in a 16 oz to-go cup and the drink was mostly milk; -when re-made (to be able to taste the coffee itself) the coffee flavor was flat and lacked any discernible characteristics; -the milk was more "foamed" than steamed really... meaning that there was tons of very light foam, but no sweet caramelized flavor when the milk is brought to the proper temperature of about 165F; -the service heads of the espresso machine did not appear to be clean or regularly wiped down (my drink had coarse coffee grinds in it); -the grit of the espresso was likely too coarse (I say this because I saw the grit in my coffee) and would in part explain the lack of a distinctive espresso flavor; -the interior of the coffee bean bins along the wall were coated in coffee bean oil, likely built up over some time without any cleaning or maintenance. As I may have indicated, I really wanted to like this place, but until there is a concerted effort to attend to the craft of making wonderful coffee (frankly, all the means are right there) there are a couple other shops in town that I'll go to first. read more

If you're in the area, I'd recommend Sozo instead. The espresso isn't bad, but their specialty lattes only come in size large. The baristas (the two times I've been) have never been very kind. I'd rather go somewhere else. read more

The egg in the breakfast sandwich was literally crunchy. The bread was a brick. Over heated so badly the cheese was gone.

This shop is in the Old Market area so obviously parking can be a challenge. It's an older shop, the decor is a little dated but clean and well maintained. The baristas were a pleasure, very sweet and helpful. I ordered a SF vanilla oatmilk latte and it was great! (I believe they use Pacific Foods oatmilk for those tracking cals). There is ample seating both upstairs and downstairs. I guess my only "complaint" is the old school styrafoam-like disposable cups they use...I don't know why but I just hate drinking coffee out of those things. All in all a very good coffee shop with a lot of syrup options, speciality drinks and great service. read more

Went based on reviews claiming gluten free donuts. They do not have them. They have some vegan/GF pastries and the muffins were so gummy and basically raw dough in the middle. I had a hot matcha and after waiting 10 minutes to drink it because it felt hot (excuse my language but this is the only way to describe what happened), it burned the absolute sh*t out of my mouth and throat. I've been a customer and fan of 13th Street Coffee for six or seven years now. Consistently wonderful coffee and sandwiches combined with a great staff of barristas makes this my longest favorite coffee shop in Omaha. Other places will come and go, but I know that I'll always come back to 13th Street for my cup of coffee. My "go to" drink there is the Italliano. It'll wake you up, for sure. read more

Cozy little coffee shop in the old market area of Omaha. Lots of seats and outlets for working, they even have a loft upstairs with some old comfy chairs! Not the best tasting Iced Coffee I ever had and it was served in hot paper cup, not plastic.. It might have been just hot coffee poured over Ice but I do not know that for a fact! All I know is I would stick to the hot coffee here. I did enjoy reading here for about an hour on a Saturday. They also have lots of local art hanging on the walls, and the lady working the counter was pretty catatonic but friendly, maybe she just needed a little more coffee. read more

I've been going to 13th Street Coffee for, well, a dozen plus years. I remember when it was the only decent coffee shop in the Old Market. I'm happy to say it's still a worthy spot to stop to read a book, work on a laptop, meet a friend or simply enjoy a hot caffeinated beverage. And in the dozen plus years I've been going to 13th Street Coffee, it really hasn't changed much. Sure they've added gelato (a very good call, imho), but the overall "feel" of the shop is very much the same as it was in the early 2000s, although it is showing a few signs of aging. Still, you can't beat its location. In my experience, the coffee is always good and the staff is always friendly. And they play classic jazz on radio, which always keeps me happy. Currently, there are many great spots downtown for coffee. And 13th Street is one of 'em. read more

Born from a time when Omaha had a coffee house explosion! This location is great! Close to work and home for me. The atmosphere is what gets me in the door. The random old books make me come back. This used to be the only shop that had any vegan items and that was helpful. The selection of coffees is definitely top notch and the inclusion of gelato cannot be overlooked. Before there was WiFi everywhere this was that one spot that you could relax and surf at. I still enjoy coming in and relaxing upstairs. the vibe is contemporary and not at all like some of the other local shops. This is truly unique and I hope they stick around for another 15 years read more

13th Street Coffee.....? More like 13th Street Garbage. I was enjoying a beautiful labor day and was heading to my favorite Coffee spot here in Omaha. It was closed, so I just happened to notice 13th Street and decided to give it a try. Boy, did this place make me miss my place. When I entered the establishment, there was a strong odor of what could have been .... feces? The coffee was harsh and extremely unenjoyable. I sat outside - it was a beautiful day - my experience was ruined because the table was positioned on a slight hill with a downward slope. All in all, go if you have no other place to go....other than that, there are WAY better places. read more

A cute little coffee shop in the downtown area. A big menu so anyone can find something they like, while not being overwhelmingly big. The pastries were very good and I can't wait to go back when more of their foods are added. The staff was very friendly and welcoming, I asked for a surprise drink and they asked what I liked so they could make me something I would enjoy. One of my favorite coffee shops in Omaha. Great environment and great service. I think it's funny when people complain about "grounds" in their coffee because every cup of coffee I've had in my life has some remnants In it. It won't kill you if you drink it hahahah. The atmosphere is comfortable and cozy. It's exactly what you want in an old market coffee shop. The espresso is not good. You'll probably want to get a latte with plenty of milk and syrup here, the cappuccino was tough to get through. If you're not picky about your coffee and want a good place to sit and read or think or work or talk in the old market, check it out. read more

Very inviting atmosphere with lots of people sitting outside and inside. Great vibe and nice staff. I didn't feel like I needed to be careful with the furniture because it was already broken in. The coffee and food were terrible. Ordered two seasonal matcha lattes, an americano, and a coffee. The americano had grinds in it, and was not good. The matcha lattes had some grit to it. We also ordered breakfast sandwiches, and they tasted nearly identical to half frozen Jimmy Dean breakfast sandwiches. read more

I could say that their tea selection is very limited but they have teas for sale that you can buy bunches of but the teas to drink at the shop are limited.
