I'd heard of Bad Seed through a friend but hadn't made time to check it out. I was so happy to discover it's super conveniently located right along my drive to my summer job! This coffee shop is right next to a plant shop, so their indoor space is full of greenery and has a relaxing vibe. The staff have always been super friendly, which makes every visit even better. They won me over right away with their homemade brown sugar syrup (my fave). It might seem strange to some that they don't have any other syrups, but once you try theirs, you won't even miss the rest! I'm now a big fan of their coffee. Don't let the simple menu fool you. It's simple because it's that good, you don't need to add anything in it. I'm usually a flavored latte person so I opted for the latte with their homemade brown sugar syrup. So. good. The milk was perfectly stretched without being too foamy and had a cute design. The espresso flavor came through beautifully and was perfectly balanced with the milk and syrup. My friend got the cold brew, which they have on tap, and that might be what I get next time. The barista that helped me was very kind, patient and helped me find the drink I'd enjoy most. I was caught in a conversation with a friend when he finished my drink, so he brought it directly to my table. The building is so cute, filled with greenery due to being connected to Nodest. The seats were an eclectic mix of old church pews, old theater seats and what looked like classic colorful school chairs. Coffee choices are limited, very few syrup choices as they make all the syrups in house. Have some bakery items, not impressed at all, got a scone and it was very dry and no option to warm it up either. No sugar free syrups as well. Tried the spiced fig syrup americano, added a splash of oat milk and it was all coagulating which I was told is normal, not super impressed. Little on the pricier side, $9 for a 16 Oz! Gotta love all the greenery at coffeeshops! I stopped by here first thing in the morning and really enjoyed the joint plant store + coffee shop idea. The plant store wasn't open yet but I was able to purchase a little succulent with my coffee on the café side. You can tell the plant store employees worked hard in all the cute plant decor and arranging terrariums for display. Lots of great gift ideas for sure! The iced latte I ordered was very average however, and the service was pretty slow as they only had one barista on hand and I waited maybe almost 15 minutes for my coffee even though it wasn't terribly busy. My favorite coffee shop in Omaha! So reasonably priced ($2 for a small pour over, $1 refills) and I really enjoy studying here surrounded by quirky plants and merch. I never have a hard time getting a spot in one the the 4 tables with outlet access in the back even though they have a steady stream of customers throughout the morning. Absolutely LOVE their double walled glass mugs (waiting for the brown one to come back in stock so I can trade in the black one my bf got me haha). Their Rishi teas are steeped to perfection, nice and strong just like I like it and they'll save the tea leaves for a resteep. Music is the perfect volume and the vibe of the people who work here is just so chill and thoughtful. Dogs are allowed and they've never said anything about my bringing in my bike to the store. Only downside is the tables tend to rock, and they noticed it and fixed it (did not realize you can adjust the legs!) for me. I do not do cold so I'm glad there's a humidifier, window for sunlight and it's usually a pretty good temp in here. I thrive where plants thrive (although I can't keep them alive to save my life haha). Happy to hear that they're expanding into the previous bike shop they shared the space with! I've wanted to visit for a while and took advantage of a plant emergency to visit Bad Seed while conducting a plant rescue at Nodest, the plant shop and soil bar that shares space with Bad Seed. That's the first encouraging sign - if people can share co-working spaces, why can't coffee and plant shops? But the coffee. I'll admit I don't know much about coffee. But I have friends and relatives who do. And the next time my cousins come to town and request "real coffee," we are headed directly to Bad Seed and nowhere else. The roastiness is hearty but not burned; you can flavor your latte with brown sugar, but the flavor of the coffee is the flavor of your beverage I was there in the late afternoon so enjoyed a decaf latte, and it truly was enjoyable. This was my first and last time trying Bad Seed. The name is fitting. The coffee I ordered was an iced latte made with the brown sugar syrup and oat milk. I was hoping for a good tasting latte but was met with the opposite. The coffee tasted sour and the milk did too. It was so overwhelmingly sour I couldn't taste the brown sugar syrup at all. I also got the chocolate cheesecake muffin to go with the coffee. The muffin was dry and I choked on it trying to get it down with the sour coffee. Overall, customer service was phenomenal. The baristas were very friendly and made me feel very welcome but the coffee is what was disappointing. The overall vibe was really nice as well. Have been stopping by Mug Life for years and just realized I never reviewed one of my favorite Omaha coffee shops! The owners have always been so fun, kind, and friendly. They truly are passionate about coffee and community. It's apparent that they are very intentional of not just how they brew coffee, but also where they source their coffee. I also appreciate that they are big fans of the pour over coffee (made apparent by their multiple pour over setups and multiple Chemex wall art). At Bad Seed Coffee & Supply, I repeatedly experienced unacceptable customer service from one barista: she is consistently rude and arrogant, and is always unwelcoming, unsmiling, and unfriendly. On a few occasions when the store was nearly empty and I was the only customer, she would ignore me as I waited to place my order while she finished some task that did not involve preparing another customer's order, such as washing a dish(es): sometimes I had to wait at least five to seven minutes for her to acknowledge my presence and take my order. Furthermore, sometimes when I attempted to get her attention by, for instance, saying "hi," she responds with implicit annoyance. I reported this ongoing, intensifying issue to the management, which was not receptive to my concern and refused to address the problem. Another issue is what Bad Seed Coffee & Supply terms its "loyalty program," whereby one earns a star with each purchase of a minimum amount, and then is given a discount when one has earned ten stars. With three sequential purchases, I was not given the discount, and the problem seemed poised to continue: after considerable hassle beset with miscommunication, however, the problem seemed finally to be resolved. read more

All I really need in a coffee shop is good coffee and comfortable tables. Muglife has both, in spades. I love that their coffee of the day is just $3, since it's a nice way to try new brews. I wish one refill was included for free (they're $1) but I can't complain given the quality. The tables aren't rickety and there are heaps of power outlets around. The bathrooms are comfortable and gender neutral. The staff obviously love coffee but aren't jerks about it doesn't those of us who have less developed palettes. But what I really love about Muglife is the decor. There's plants everywhere, natural light streaming in, and the open half wall with the bike shop gives the place a hip, casual, and airy vibe. My new favorite coffee shop in Omaha! I'm sitting here now sipping on their B.S. (Brown Sugar) Latte. It's reasonably priced and perfectly sweet! They even did the cutest latte art on top. The shop is small but wholesome. Plants are everywhere, and I believe they are available for sale too. They have a variety of merchandise (stickers, shirts, mugs, beans, etc.) available. The customer service is unmatched here too. I've always been greeted with a smile. They never fail to make me feel at home here. Their espresso always turns out strong and they neatly serve it with some soda water to help cleanse the palate. The decor on the inside is warm and homey, like the living room you've always wanted. The first time I found this place was during the Caffeine Crawl in 2018. It was the first location on a route of six coffee shops throughout Omaha, and I was extremely impressed by the owners and their love for coffee. I started my coffee journey in 2016 and instantly fell in love with what a flavorful cup of coffee is meant to be and have tasted coffees from all over the world. During the tasting at Muglife they offered a black Ecuadorian roast made as a pour over and housed in two-quart carafes. When I tasted it for the first time, I knew Muglife would be an instant favorite of mine. I'm military and I've lived in the Omaha area for almost two years now, and when I meet new people in the area, or people that have just arrived, I instantly guide them to Muglife as the "best cup of coffee in town"! read more
