This place is honestly soooo nice. The room is clean and the location is right near downtown. And, the staff are very friendly, especially Sergio! He made our trip very relaxing and comfortable. Would recommend this place. I especially loved how on the top deck, there were cute beach chairs set up three steps away from your door. You can get a sun-tan as you chat with your girlfriends. Tip#1: If you live far away, don't try to pack a lot of snacks in your bags. Ralphs is one minute walking distance, and it's open for a long time! I took advantage of this and had lovely midnight snacking. Tip#2: Such a no-brainer, but bring a bathing suit. There is a jacuzzi I saw when I was looking around on the top deck, but it wasn't running water yet (I think all you had to do was press the button to start it though). read more

Just finished our second trip to this hotel and we LOVE it! It's quaint, intimate, and within walking distance of just about everything. First tip: This is NOT a chain style hotel! If you're looking for 24/7 staff to tell you how to do everything, look elsewhere! This is a "boutique style" condo. Great location and charming atmosphere! The double mini fridge and kitchenette make snaking and small meals a breeze. Grills and a hot tub are available in the common area as well; you're covered for summer and winter nights. Each room is themed, which makes each stay at this boutique unique and exciting. Gated parking and locked entrances provide a very safe atmosphere! We too had struggles with the door lock to our room, but a little bit of patience and intelligence pays dividends. Oh, and we were three sheets to the wind when struggle ensued! Now sober, I find the locks to be an added level of security, and the difficult locks are intentional! My girlfriend wants me to add that beach towels and a blow dryer "with attachments" top it all off! One last thing... We met the new staff/ownership upon our check-out and they were great! We stayed at 14 West Boutique Hotel for New Years Eve. The booking was extremely helpful and easy due to fast correspondence of the hotel manager through email. She replied in quick and helpful manner in all my questions. The parking was plenty and safe with the gated garage accessible through password. The rooms are upstairs from garage where there's grill and patio available in first come first serve manner. The each room tends to be unique and have its own theme. The room we stayed was gorgeous with lounge-y sofa and table with pull down bed from the wall. All the furnitures and amenities were very clean and beautiful as if all were new. There is Ralphs just next street in walkable distance if need water or quick snack during the stay. There is also private outside patio for each room I believe. I would highly recommend others to stay at the one of a kind hotel for an easy getaway. read more

Stayed here for one night while in Laguna. This place was very reasonable for proximity to beach (200 ft) restaurants and shopping. The staff leaves at 5 or so but provide you with info to access property after hours. We arrived after hours and had no problem accessing garage or room ( #11 Malibu). The room was clean and well equipped with all the creature comforts you could want to make your stay enjoyable. Per other reviews there was the issue with the cable box in the closet. But on the receiver it explains that if you leave the door cracked the signal will reflect off glass door to box. So this was not even an issue. Also there was one light out but it was and over head light that was used for reading so it was not an issue. During the day there is no need for lighting due to all of the natural light that floods in. Overall this was a fantastic place even with the minor issues. Would highly recommend to anyone passing through on the PCH. read more

Took what I thought might be a gamble on 14 West since I didn't know much about it, but wanted to stay in the heart of Laguna Beach with my wife since we were going to get away for just one night. This place was AWESOME! We were given the Santa Monica #7 room which had a balcony that went out to PCH, great for relaxing out there with a cocktail before going out to a really nice dinner and some local bars afterwards (which was all within walking distance). The room was really big and had everything we needed, even a high end wine bottle opener! Some people might be turned off by not having staff there overnight, it was not a big deal. The instructions for parking and getting keys were provided via email and by text. Super easy to follow, no problems whatsoever. Some of the rooms in the back of the complex might be a bit quieter since they are further away from PCH, but with the sliding glass door shut it was still very calming inside. The decor was fantastic too! We loved the large shower / deep tub... however this is my only gripe (and hence the 4 stars and not 5). i could not figure out how to get the whirlpool bath to work. There were no instructions provided for it, the drain stopper in the tub did not work well enough to allow the water level to go up to the point where it would turn on i guess? It wasn't that big of a deal though... just would have been the icing on the cake. Cable box was complained about by other reviewers.. not a concern of ours we didn't watch any TV (but used the nice fireplace below it). The cable box IS actually in a really strange place to be honest. Parking was worth the $12 to know my car wouldn't be hit by a drunk driver on PCH on the friday night. Gated and well lit. Highly recommended, we will be staying here again for our next one night getaway for sure. Who needs gigantic expensive hotel chains to get a great place to stay? read more

This boutique hotel is amazing! My fiance picked this place as where we'd stay the night he proposed and wow did they help him make it special! I walked in and had the most "movie like" experience with red rose petals on the bed, shaped in a heart, Rose champagne, chocolate covered strawberries, candles lit, fireplace going, music on etc. It was breathtaking! Marieza helped my fiance get everything all set for my surprise entrance and he said she was so helpful through the whole process. So sweet! The hotel itself has the most unique setup with each room being individual with it's decor and style, setup like a studio, with the mini kitchen area and everything you might need, in addition to a beautiful tub/shower in the bathroom, and a huge walk in closet! Awesome! :) The hot-tub didn't have any time restraints so even after our late night out (after the proposal) we got to enjoy some romantic time on the deck in the hot-tub and stare up at the stars, enjoying the amazing Laguna air! The next morning there was nothing better than making breakfast in the kitchenette, enjoying breakfast in bed and having the fireplace on all the while. So romantic! We didn't want to leave! :) The property manager Caroline was so nice the next day after checkout as well... she was privy to the engagement plan and was thrilled I was surprised and enjoyed the stay! DO NOT STAY HERE!! They baited and switched our hotel room to their newly acquired cheep motel next-door that used to be a Holiday Inn. We have stayed at 14 W. for years and loved it, now they put us into the crappy motel room next-door, everything about it is awful. Worst part is the beds are like sleeping on the floor and I'm not exaggerating. We all couldn't feel our arms in the morning, our backs are out. On the website booking the rooms it has beautiful 14 W. boutique hotel and you're selecting your rooms and then they just move you to the motel for the same price. We were celebrating our 30th anniversary what a disappointment. To make it worse they were awful to us they couldn't care less. The people running the hotel know they're doing a scam but they don't care they're just gonna take your money. We wanted to cancel our reservation they said they're going to charge us $450 for the night regardless. Seeing the other views, I suspect there'll be a lawsuit coming up. read more

I live in the area and my husband and I stayed one night. Location is great. It's walking to beach, restaurants and grocery store. The room was nice and met expectation. Kitchenette was well appointed. The set-up is a little unusual. Need a gate code to get into the parking garage and staff is not consistently accessible. Might not be a good place to stay for tourist since there is very little chance you will get concierge type help. But if you needed a mid-term or long-term lodging in Laguna Beach I would recommend this place. read more

It is a little different than the usual hotel, you don't get full room cleaning and I would recommend requesting extra bath and hand towels when you arrive, but it worked really well for what we needed. We had such a great experience here. The room was fabulous. Upscale modern touch with each rooms decor different from the others. Large kitchenette, twin mini frig, cook top, microwave and coffee maker. We loved the studio apartment feel especially the fireplace below the large tv. The staff was very friendly and helpful. My husband and I stayed at the 14 West just this past week. We originally were only staying 2 nights. We paid through Trivago for 2 nights for $302. When we walked into our room we both were impressed by how "modern" (for lack of a better word). When we went in, a small wall was in front of us, walking around corner I was looking towards the back of the room and almost fell. The bed was elevated and you step down in sitting area. There was a small wooden step, not attached to the elevated floor. It was smaller then first step and tucked against the bed frame and I almost took a header. The other thing we noticed was the water faucet at vanity was not just dripping, but coming out in a small continual stream. Since we got to hotel at 11:00pm, so we agreed to tell the office to fix it the next am. When I went into shower room and there was a huge jacuzzi style tub and shower. I'm 5'5" and I barely was able to get in and out! There was also a sign stating the Jets were out of order. Later that night we were woken by what sounded like water spraying everywhere! Apparently the jacuzzi was on a timer. The Jets were blowing out air and no water in tub. It seems like I'm giving a bad review, but I'm not. These was almost the only problems we had! The next morning we went to the office who said they'd have the faucet fixed that day. As far as I know, it's still running. The hotel itself was very pleasant, no noise from neighbors, etc. If you find yourself in need of a hotel in Laguna, this place is better then most high end ones. We decided to stay another day, not realizing we would be charged a much higher rate.plus $15 a day parking. There are not enough nice words in the English language to describe how great this hotel is. My friends and I stayed here two nights last year and have been raving about it ever since - we are staying in NYC later this year and have literally made it our mission to find "the New York equivalent of 14 West." I'm not kidding! This place is adorable, well-priced, in a perfect location for access to the beach, and is one of the most comfortable stays I've ever had out of town, ever. The beds are heavenly, and the rooms are pristine and modern without feeling uncomfortable or unrelaxing. Large flat screen television, electric fireplace, wood and tiled floors, cute and functional kitchenette, and a bathroom that is seriously something out of a magazine. That shower was something else, and was much needed and appreciated after long days at the beach and Disneyland. In addition, parking is affordable and easy, the place is very quiet, and the staff is incredibly friendly and helpful. I will never stay at a different hotel in the Laguna area for as long as I live. Please open a NYC location! Our next trip just won't be the same. read more

Very clean and very modern. They have a small kitchenette with two small refrigerator's. And the parking is located in a gated area underground. This gem in Laguna is really great! For the business traveler, families, or gathering of friends, whatever you are looking for there are so many great things about this place. Location to so many things including a grocery store to fill up your kitchenette which is fully stocked and amazing to some great eateries and places to shop. The fireplace in the room, the walk in closet, upgraded amenities and the adorable outside seating area that includes a grill. No this place doesn't offer a gym or a pool, but there are so many trips where I don't use those amenities so I was ok with not having these things. 14 rooms total, definitely quaint and would definitely stay again. Stayed in July 2016 and had an amazing time! I was not familiar with the hotel set up, but it wasn't too hard to figure out once I got there. The location was perfect and the apartment like room was very comfortable. I did have a little bit of trouble getting the door to open at times throughout my trip but after a few seconds of finessing the lock would finally give. Also, there was a little bit of a mess on the balcony when I arrived...the last guest must've had a dog. Other than that, the balcony and the fireplace were great touches to the room and overall I was very happy with my stay and will go back if I get the chance! read more

The 14 West, is a little gem in Laguna Beach. It is a boutique hotel with modern clean rooms and a lovely terrace for hotel guests to use. The customer service was excellent and the check in and check out experience was great. We stayed one night in a 2 queen bed room and used the time as a work retreat which was perfect as we could sit in or out to work and had great fast speed internet. The hotel location means you can easily walk to restaurants the beach and local stores. One slight blip was a group of hotel guests who decided to party in the hotel hot tub until 3am, because our room was right next to the hot tub it was LOUD. The guests obviously did not care that people in rooms close by, could find this rather annoying. We spoke with the Hotel management the next day (note there is no hotel staff on site overnight) and they were apologetic and gave us a 10 % discount on the room and waived the parking fee, I would have appreciated and been more impressed with their customer service if we had been offered more of a discount. However, the fact that they did this and cared that our experience was not 100%, was positive. I would have liked to return as we plan frequent work retreats and Laguna Beach is close to LA therefore a great get away with little travel, however there is nothing to stop this occurring again. Hotel staff are not on site after 6 and you are at the mercy of other guests respecting it's a shared space. Maybe if we ask for a room at the front ( Room 1 is right by hot tub) at least we could avoid the late night hot tub parties! Overall love the staff and Hotel, unfortunate that we had the 3am late night noisy party experience but such is life I can nap today! read more

Good location, block in from beach and walkable to lots of good restaurants. Nice updated room with comfortable bed and modern bathroom/kitchenette. Hot tub and deck area nice features. Rooms are outfitted for long stays. AC unit it kind of loud and cable box in closet was annoying. Stayed here on a Thurs in the off season (mid Nov) and felt a bit deserted. Office is only open limited hours - unfortunately they charge a parking fee, though the meters on the street are free overnight and 3 hrs during the day. read more

The rooms were stylish and comfortable (with a kitchenette to boot) and you're right across the street from the beach. There's an onsite parking garage ($15/day). My friends and I stayed here the other night, and when we came home after 2:00am we couldn't get into our room (alcohol may or may not have been involved...). We have stayed here twice. Both times we had a great experience. The staff was very attentive and wanted to make our stay comfortable. The hotel is small so it doesn't have some of the amenities a larger property might have. The location is the best. Across the street from the water and right in the middle of down town. We never even have to drive anywhere. The beds are great and all the linens are soft and high quality. I also love that all the flooring is hard surface. It feels really clean. This was exactly what we were looking for! It was a nice "boutique" hotel close to the main downtown area of Laguna. Clean, modern, spacious room. It even had a fireplace which was nice and cozy on the cooler winter nights! Just a short, easy walk (about a block or so) into the main part of town. Room had a nice kitchenette area. Comfortable bed and bedding. Common patio area with comfy seats, bbq, heaters. Easy parking. Helpful staff who gave us tips on places to go in town. And the price was right! read more

I stayed here this past weekend and was so glad I found this little gem of a place! It's in town and within walking distance to the beach, market and great food. I stayed in the Malibu room #11 and the decor was clean, modern and very cozy. I loved the fireplace and huge comfortable king bed., blow dryer, built in speakers so you could listen to the radio and a huge flat screen tv. There were so many pillows on the bed I about got lost in them. There was a couple of beach towels and since the weather was warm I was able to lay out in the sun on the patio. The place is on a busy street but at night it's pretty quiet. The staff is very helpful and even gave us a gift card to check out breakfast at the Mare lounge and restaurant next door which was unexpected and very nice. The only complaint I have is the lighting over the sink to the bathroom vanity is terrible. It's one little light that shines down and it must be the type of recessed light but it casts a shadow on your face so it's really hard to see yourself in the mirror unless you turn the light completely off. I ended up using the full length mirror next to the kitchen to do my hair/make-up since the skylight about gave me plenty of natural light to see. It would be better if they had softer lights around the mirror in the sink area so you could see better. That is my only complaint, otherwise everything else was great! I loved the free WiFi too and it was super easy to connect. I would definitely recommend this place to others. read more

We stayed at the 14 West this weekend because my son was getting married in Laguna. His future wife was the one who found the hotel and booked it for us. What a lovely experience this was. All the rooms are very unique, immaculate and comfortable. When we arrived, the receptionist was upstairs and was so accommodating. She gave us the keys to our rooms (we needed an early check in because the wedding was at 3:30) without signing in, car info..... And she was kind enough to let my daughter into our room when she arrived so we could grab a quick lunch. The location is excellent for staying in Laguna Beach. You have everything you need in these rooms...actually two small refrigerator/freezers. Cannot say enough good things about this hotel. We would definitely stay there again. read more
