I had the good fortune of using a friend's unused week in this timeshare unit. The complex is older and the units are small, with Murphy double beds for sleeping, but the location is to die for! We had Unit 227, which is the only one with its own patio that isn't shared with other guests. It had an amazing view of the water, and we even saw dolphins one day. The staff, especially Rachel, was very helpful, even before we arrived. The only reason I didn't give five stars is because they closed the pool area for a sudden repair. Bear in mind that the units that front Cliff Drive have constant daytime traffic and metered parking, so cars come and go all day, but it wasn't intrusive. This place is reasonably priced and is close to everything, but it is not fancy by any means. There is a free trolley right across Cliff Drive, so you don't need to drive most places. FYI these units are so coveted that we met people who stay there every year, some coming back for over 30 years. That speaks volumes!

After a long argus to the hotel the curves and banking roads leading to the hotel left me in a state of calm. Checking in and Lourdes was as friendly as can be .. the vacation is already starting great. I get to my room... or should I say suite with an ocean view ..... should I leave this beautiful view for the actual beach, or stay sipping scotch, mesmerized by what I could see from my room, am I in Hawaii.... no wait it's it's still California. Then I'm in walking distance of everything I need to get from groceries the beach(very important after the scotch) I forgot to mention the monsoon-esq weather sourthen California was having at the time, good thing for nice big flat screen and fully loaded kitchen, and comfy bed what more could one ask for in a get away

I also found this gorgeous retreat by accident, it's calm and serene..The most beautiful place I have seen, and I didn't even have to leave California. .It's Simply Amazing, and I will be Back..Takes my Breath Away

They are so kind and made sure our stay was a pleasant one. The hotel itself is right on the sand. There's beautiful views all throughout the hotel and from the rooms. The location is perfect and close walking distance from many great dining spots. You want to walk whenever possible because parking is a bit stressful and walking allows you to enjoy all that Laguna Beach has to offer. One of my favorite things about the room was being able to open the windows and sliding door to the beautiful ocean breeze. It's the best! (We couldn't do that for a portion of our stay because a couple of the neighbors continued to smoke. Not the hotel's fault because it is non-smoking but we were bummed that we kept smelling it in our room.) The room was nice, quaint and clean in general. For the price per night, I would say it might be due for some up keep just from normal wear and tear, such as new pillows and things like that. It wasn't super fancy or anything but the location of it offered beautiful views! The hotel and staff are lovely overall. We would genuinely stay here again.

I thought we…read morewould have to wait a long while, but the receptionist (Holly) checked us in immediately, and upgraded our room. She was friendly, professional, helpful, and accommodating. She explained all the hotel's amenities. In addition to the room charge, a $40 resort fee got us: 1. On-site parking; 2. Welcome sangrias; 3. Chocolate chip cookies each night; 4. A European styled breakfast each morning from 7am to 10am; 5. Wi-fi; 6. Beach chairs and umbrellas. Parking in Laguna Beach is a premium, so parking at the resort was great. The city of Laguna offers a free shuttle with a bus stop almost in front of the hotel. So we parked our car and took the shuttle all over town. The property is a well maintained, quant renovated 26 room Italian style resort. It's clean, charming, and has lots of character. It felt nice being at a small property and not at a large commercial hotel. We felt like we were back in Italy on vacation again! Just walking past the front of the hotel, you would not know that there is a luxury resort inside. They have a heated swimming pool (83 degrees), a sauna, and a secluded sun bathing lounge area and several other amenities. We opted for the heated wellness treatment which is a jacuzzi hot tub for two with mineral water. But they also offer single and couples messages and other message therapies. They have a quant internal courtyard for dining as well. We enjoyed a great European breakfast each day which was well prepared, fresh, healthy, and served by great hostesses. We especially liked the frittatas, fresh squeezed orange juice, hot coffee, and iced cold lemon water. The property is a historic landmark, so it doesn't offer handicap accessibility. So if you or someone in your group is in a wheel chair or uses a walker then this property won't work for you. Overall we really enjoyed staying here and would definitely go back again.

The service was excellent and can see that staff takes great care and attention to making sure everything is taken care of. We very much appreciated all the amenities this inn had to offer such as the welcome drink, evening cookies (delicious!), sauna, sunblock at the pool, towels, lovely breakfast.. all complimentary (breakfast with resort fee). We also appreciated the 10% military discount. We stayed in room 23 which was a standard queen bed with garden view and liked that spot because it felt central, private, and quiet. The room is on the smaller side but it was fine. It does not have a fridge but they provide an ice bucket. We ended up putting our bottled waters on top of the AC box and that kept it cool. Being that the inn is beautifully historic, there weren't many outlets inside the room. The bath robes were very plush. Both lamp shade knobs didn't seem to turn properly but we made it work somehow. Otherwise, we felt well taken care of throughout our stay and so glad we came. Aside from the inn, there is a walk to get to Victoria Beach. We walked south along Coast Highway to Victoria Place and found the underpass from there. We also took the free trolley outside of the hotel to get around town. It could be quite a wait for the trolley as we waited 30 mins. There is a QR code on the sign to track the trolley locations.

Our stay at The Resort at Pelican Hill exceeded every expectation. From the moment we arrived,…read moreeverything felt luxurious, peaceful, and incredibly well maintained. The breathtaking ocean views, beautiful landscaping, and elegant atmosphere make this one of the most stunning resorts in Southern California. Room & Platinum Benefits As Marriott Platinum members, we were pleasantly surprised with a complimentary upgrade to an Ocean View Bungalow without even asking. While we weren't upgraded to a suite despite availability, the bungalow was absolutely incredible. The room was spacious, beautifully designed, and featured a huge bathroom and a private ocean-view patio that quickly became our favorite spot. Waking up to the ocean view every morning was unforgettable. We also appreciated the complimentary self-parking and the $70 dining credit, which added even more value to our stay. ‍ The Spa Was a Hidden Highlight One of the biggest surprises was that all resort guests receive complimentary access to the spa facilities even without booking a treatment. This ended up being one of our favorite parts of the trip. We enjoyed the spa lounge, pool, sauna, and relaxation areas at no extra cost. The spa staff were incredibly attentive--they even kept refilling my apple cider several times while I relaxed. The fitness center is conveniently located next to the spa, making it easy to enjoy both. Resort Amenities The circular Coliseum Pool is absolutely stunning, with panoramic ocean views and plenty of space to unwind. Every staff member we encountered was friendly, professional, and genuinely provided five-star service. Another feature we loved was being able to park directly outside our bungalow, which made everything extremely convenient. Breakfast at Coliseum Pool & Grill We had breakfast at Coliseum Pool & Grill one morning. The setting is absolutely beautiful, overlooking the pool and ocean, and the atmosphere is hard to beat. However, the food itself was just average, especially considering the price. We ordered the Crab Cake Eggs Benedict ($48) and the Breakfast Burrito ($26). Both were decent but nothing particularly memorable. You're really paying for the spectacular views, elegant surroundings, and resort experience rather than exceptional food. Crystal Cove Shuttle The resort offers a complimentary shuttle to Crystal Cove Beach. We personally didn't find it worthwhile. During our visit, the beach was crowded and not very clean, so we stayed for only about 15 minutes before calling the shuttle to return to the resort. Honestly, Pelican Hill itself is the destination. We'd much rather spend our time enjoying the pool, spa, restaurants, and incredible ocean views. Final Thoughts If you're looking for a relaxing luxury getaway, romantic staycation, or special celebration, Pelican Hill is an excellent choice. The accommodations, service, spa, beautiful grounds, and unforgettable views made this an amazing experience. The food may not always match the luxury price tag, but everything else absolutely does. We would happily stay here again.
