From the moment we walked in to register we were greeted by a warm and professional Bachir who was at the front desk. He helped us get settled into a very nice comfortable room. We stayed here for a few days recently celebrating our anniversary. 5 stars mainly for the service and hospitality of Bachir and Esmeralda. They are so kind and made sure our stay was a pleasant one. The hotel itself is right on the sand. There's beautiful views all throughout the hotel and from the rooms. The location is perfect and close walking distance from many great dining spots. You want to walk whenever possible because parking is a bit stressful and walking allows you to enjoy all that Laguna Beach has to offer. One of my favorite things about the room was being able to open the windows and sliding door to the beautiful ocean breeze. It's the best! (We couldn't do that for a portion of our stay because a couple of the neighbors continued to smoke. Not the hotel's fault because it is non-smoking but we were bummed that we kept smelling it in our room.) The room was nice, quaint and clean in general. For the price per night, I would say it might be due for some up keep just from normal wear and tear, such as new pillows and things like that. It wasn't super fancy or anything but the location of it offered beautiful views! The hotel and staff are lovely overall. We would genuinely stay here again. read more

Parking is a challenge, but that is pretty much table stakes in this area. While our room was not in the best location. (That's probably putting it nicely as we were just off the main street and as far away from the sea as possible without standing on the sidewalk.) The room itself was basic but met our needs, though the AC/unit was... different. It was a little floor unit connected to a dryer-vent-style hose that went into the wall. Other than that and some noisy guests and traffic from the street, it worked for me for our weekend. We didn't use the pool or partake in the breakfast, so I cannot comment on those, but the property itself seemed well maintained and they put chairs and umbrellas on the beach when the tide goes out. The uppermost balcony is a great spot to sit or stand in the morning to listen to the waves crash and follow sea birds or spot the occasional dolphin or crazy ocean swimmers. I would go get coffee and spend a few minutes up there each morning. Once you've got your parking spot, it is pretty easy to walk to a lot of places in town -- restaurants, shops and larger beaches -- and there is a shuttle that comes by periodically. There was a parade in town during the time we were there, so those seemed infrequent and nearly always packed with people. Bring comfortable shoes. We were fortunate to get a parking spot on the main hotel grounds. There is a secondary lot pretty close by, and they will give you directions and a map to its location at the front desk. I would not bring a large vehicle (no big trucks or Suburban/Ford Excursion-sized vehicles) since I doubt you'd fit into the small spots in either of the lots. read more

Capri Laguna is a special place, incredible location on the beach, very good staff- all so attentive, friendly and helpful, comfortable rooms- quite spacious, and good value compared to nearby options, parking is free and they have a simple yet filling continental breakfast. Special shout-out to front desk staff Morgan who was always cheerful and spent time to explain to us where to go, what to do, and asking how we were doing whenever we passed by. Having staff so pleasant really makes the experience. Also, a big shout-out to hotel staff Costa who seemed to take care of everything, including setting up beach chairs and umbrellas, sweeping up sand, pouring afternoon wine (which is also complementary along with cheese & crackers). When we sat on the beach, Costa was kind enough to bring towels to us without us even asking, it's those thoughtful gestures that make all the difference, you rarely find it these days. Free continental breakfast is not a full hot meal, it's mainly breads, yogurt and fruits, though the waffle maker was very nice, and we appreciated the chance to stay at the hotel and bring breakfast right back to our room or sitting out on the public areas, either on the roof or the beach and enjoy breakfast in front of the water. There was a nice mix of guests. I can see some families may get stares or complaints from some of the higher end resorts where guests expect less kids running around so this had a good feel, more welcoming all sorts of people. We chose a suite with an ocean view and balcony and it was worth it. Very spacious, with fridge, microwave and coffeemaker. Rooms are a bit older, without built-in A/C but the separate A/C units worked fine though some might be annoyed by how loud they are. You actually couldn't hear the waves if you have your A/C on. Our room also did not have a sliding screen door which was disappointing because we could not keep the door open to enjoy the outdoor sounds and fresh air as flies flew in whenever we kept it open. The only main tip is for parking. Many of the spaces are tight, and I mean you may be nearly just a few inches away from a pole or the car beside you, that gets very tough to park if you're not comfortable so highly suggested to leave the mini-van or truck behind and opt for a smaller car. Still, can't complain at all as parking is free, not the case with many other places. And once you park, the trolley stops right in front so it's super convenient getting around town. If you set your expectations that Capri Laguna is not one of the overpriced 5-star resorts that you find all around Laguna (so it doesn't have a full restaurant or bar, or spa services), but is more of a relatively value-priced (especially on weekdays) boutique hotel on the beach, with limited facilities, but makes the most of what it has, then you will have a great stay here. read more

My husband and I just spent the weekend at Capri Laguna, Laguna Beach. It's a charming boutique hotel with easy access to the beach. Our room was a pool view but from the patio off our room we could see the ocean. We watched the sunset both nights from the main patio equipped with tables, loungers, and other comfortable seating. Our room was spacious and the beds and bedding very comfortable. The accommodations overall were wonderful. The hotel is in a great location, the "hip district" and a short walk to main beach, shops, and restaurants. The management and staff were friendly, accommodating, and extremely welcoming. It was a very beautiful stay and wonderful staff. Nick, Esme-Morgan, Bachir and the gentleman who helped with the bags were very friendly, and resourceful. The view of the water was speechless and perfect. Pool is heated and is open until 9 which is nice. Room was clean and cozy. Balcony was the cutest. Would stay again if I get the same room location . The negative/cons I can think of is my grandma is handicap with a knee replacement and couldn't go up the steps very easily. There aren't walkways or elevator so it was difficult to come and go. The rooms are comfortable but very old and not kept up in a way of a/c is a portable unit and shower head was corroded. Stayed in room 610 which was told an upgrade but the staffs closet was next to it and construction was going on. I'd stay again if upgrades to the rooms are done like cleaning and a/c and new shower heads. read more

Every year we try to attend Sawdust and the Pageant of the Masters. We usually stay at an AirB&B on the beach further north. This year, we decided we wanted to be able to walk. We picked Capri Laguna because of the price (it isn't easy to find something in July for less than $500). We were so very happy. Clean room with a balcony that over looked the ocean. Great staff. Everyone keeps commenting on Bashir, and it is all true. He made us feel very welcome. But cleaning staff is also great and deserves a shout out. I highly recommend this hotel for someone that wants a nice place but does not want to pay Surf & Sand prices. read more

We booked the partial ocean view room for a week getaway and enjoyed our stay. The only downside was the AC unit, it was one of those giant portable units so it took up a lot of space in an already small room, despite it being a deluxe. It also made a lot of noise so we couldn't really use it at night. We were closer to the ocean due to the room we booked so it was a 30 second walk down to the stairs and the sand. All together a decent stay. They had some basic breakfast items in the morning like a waffle maker, orange juice and bagels but we didn't really take advantage of it since there were so many other local bakeries that we enjoy. read more

We requested an upgrade and for a small additional fee we were able to get a partial ocean view room which did not disappoint! Our stay at Capri Laguna was absolutely wonderful! My husband made a last-minute reservation, and we couldn't have been happier with how everything turned out. The host, Casey and Nick were amazing -- so welcoming, helpful, and made sure we had everything we needed for a comfortable stay. We had a late check in and they made sure they left the key somewhere for us to get it and also emailed us their personal number in case we had any problems. Our room was peaceful, we could hear the waves from our bed, which made it feel like the ultimate coastal escape. Just a few steps down the stairs and we were right on a beautiful private beach. The location couldn't be better -- within walking distance of great restaurants, shops, and all the charm Laguna Beach has to offer. The Capri Laguna was a great boutique style hotel right along the beach. During my anniversary this year, I booked the Capri Laguna for a nice, relaxing overnight for myself and my wife and for the location to the beach you cant beat it. The hotel rooms are very small but are nicely decorated and have everything you would need for a great stay. The view from our room was good and the sound of the waves all night was quite nice. We did have a lot of noise from the neighboring rooms on both sides of us which was consistently loud but we made the best of it during our time in the room. Booking the property was easy through Booking.com as I did but I did not have the 5 star experience with the staff that many have written about. Despite us booking this for our anniversary and letting the staff know, they made zero reference to this and hardly spoke to us besides asking if we had dinner plans (which we did). The onsite parking is small and I was able to grab a spot near our room but its tight and they definitely do not have enough to cover all of the guests. The offshoot lot down the road is also quite tight and small as well but is offered for those who cant get one on site. For the views and proximity to the beach and downtown Laguna I would definitely come back again. If I based it off the service, I probably wouldn't as I truly expected more from the staff in making this a stay we wouldn't forget. My partner and I wanted a quick, romantic getaway and the Capri Hotel on the Beach in Laguna turned out to be the perfect spot. We also got a mini kitchen I think and we got coffee. Consider this room as a great room for capri laguna. The only downside is that there is no shower door in room 303 and the beach was keeping us from sleeping. Pretty fun though. read more

I came upon Capri Laguna because I was in the area doing some shopping at nearby retail outlets. I was tired and didn't feel like driving home so I thought I'd just go across the street and see if I could get a room. I was pleasantly surprised that a room was available, and I was treated with such kindness and respect the entire time I was there. The vibe of this location is more family oriented than ritzy and that's just what I needed. My stay was very healing and restorative. The heated pool was an amazing addition to my relaxation. But of course there's also the fact that this place is located directly on the beach therefore I was able to hear the waves all throughout the night and also able to visit the private beach in the night and in the morning. In addition to the lovely ocean view, I also spotted 50-80 pelicans as they flew in formation and skimmed the surface of the waves looking for their next meal. I really like the Greek goddess statues that are placed all throughout the location and I enjoyed this getaway because it is closely located to multiple retail outlets and a Ralph's market so you can get what you need without getting in the car. I hope I can go to this place again in the near future. This is less than an hour away from home and a perfect staycation location. read more
