Parking is a challenge, but that is pretty much table stakes in this area. While our room was not in the best location. (That's probably putting it nicely as we were just off the main street and as far away from the sea as possible without standing on the sidewalk.) The room itself was basic but met our needs, though the AC/unit was... different. It was a little floor unit connected to a dryer-vent-style hose that went into the wall. Other than that and some noisy guests and traffic from the street, it worked for me for our weekend. We didn't use the pool or partake in the breakfast, so I cannot comment on those, but the property itself seemed well maintained and they put chairs and umbrellas on the beach when the tide goes out. The uppermost balcony is a great spot to sit or stand in the morning to listen to the waves crash and follow sea birds or spot the occasional dolphin or crazy ocean swimmers. I would go get coffee and spend a few minutes up there each morning. Once you've got your parking spot, it is pretty easy to walk to a lot of places in town -- restaurants, shops and larger beaches -- and there is a shuttle that comes by periodically. There was a parade in town during the time we were there, so those seemed infrequent and nearly always packed with people. Bring comfortable shoes. We were fortunate to get a parking spot on the main hotel grounds. There is a secondary lot pretty close by, and they will give you directions and a map to its location at the front desk. I would not bring a large vehicle (no big trucks or Suburban/Ford Excursion-sized vehicles) since I doubt you'd fit into the small spots in either of the lots.

This hotel is wonderful. Great location, comfy rooms and perfect continental breakfast every morning. What made our stay even more exceptional was the hospitality from Nick and Morgan. They both made us feel "at home" and were so accommodating. We will definitely be back.

Nice sunset view from the hotel balcony

Mixed review: Pros: -Right next to the ocean, so that's a plus. The hotel does a nice job of placing tables and chairs out so you can enjoy the ocean views. -Walking distance to restaurants and attractions in Laguna so you never have to drive. -Rooms are moderately comfortable. -Complimentary water each day in your room. Cons: -Disclaimer: we had a Travelzoo special so we weren't expecting an ocean view room. However they placed us in the worst, noisiest room possible facing the street. Terrible traffic noise plus you hear all of your neighbors (zero soundproofing.) -The a/c unit is loud and obnoxious. -The attached beach one might look forward to disappears during high tide, which happened to be large portions of our stay. -The complimentary breakfast is quite basic, as one might expect.

Our stay at the Capri Laguna Beach Hotel was absolutely unforgettable. We came to celebrate our anniversary, and from the moment we arrived, Nick, the manager, and the entire staff went above and beyond to make it truly special. Their kindness, attention to detail, and genuine hospitality made us feel so welcome. Our room was spotless, beautifully designed, and thoughtfully appointed with everything we needed. The location simply couldn't be better we fell asleep listening to the waves all night, which made for the most relaxing and memorable experience. The oceanfront lounge overlooking the beach was the perfect place to unwind, and the complimentary breakfast was fresh, delicious, and just as thoughtfully prepared as everything else during our stay. If you're looking for the perfect beachfront getaway in Laguna Beach, this is it. We honestly wouldn't have wanted to stay anywhere else and can't wait to come back. Thank you, Nick and the entire Capri Laguna Beach team, for making our anniversary so incredibly special!

Such a gem. Took a little getaway for my birthday. This hotel didn't disappoint. My first ocean front hotel and it was sooooo beautiful. The front desk receptionist was so nice and offered free cookies. This hotel also has the best location. There's tons and restaurant and coffee shops. Would stay here again 10/10

My daughter and I came to the Capri for a girls weekend with friends and we had the BEST time! It was clean and beautiful and the staff were welcoming and professional. The boutique hotel is in a great location, near food and shopping. We loved being right on the beach and the rooms were clean and airy. 10 out of 10 recommended!!

We had an amazing 3 night stay at Capri Laguna after spending our first night in Laguna at another nightmare beachfront hotel (roaches included). THANKFULLY, Capri Laguna had availability and were extremely accommodating, allowing us to check in early morning immediately after leaving our previous hotel. The room was clean, staff was amazing, there was plenty of lounging spaces to enjoy the ocean breeze, and the complimentary beach chair, towel, and umbrella setup was the highlight of our stay. Many thanks to Bachir, Esme, and Nick for being so kind and professional. We will be back!

Capri Laguna isn't just a place I stay at....it's a place that genuinely feels like home. From my very first visit (my birthday stay), something just clicked. Since then, I keep coming back...not out of routine, but because of how this team consistently shows up. No matter the time, no matter the reason, they always make sure I'm taken care of. Nick, Bachir, and Esmeralda...you've set the standard. The way you welcome me, my friends, and my family doesn't go unnoticed. It's thoughtful, it's genuine, and it's consistent. That's rare. After the daily grind, I find myself driving to Laguna Beach just to reset. It's my quiet place. The views, the serenity, the clean rooms, and the level of service..it all comes together. But what truly makes it special is the people behind it. This is why I keep coming back. Not just for the location...but for how you make me feel every single time. Thank you for making every stay worth it.

This place was absolutely breathtaking. I came here with my husband for his birthday for a night and was greeted by Casey. He was so friendly and so helpful and really made our getaway experience amazing. The room was clean and the view was incredible. We fell asleep listening to waves and woke up to it. They even offer chairs and umbrellas in their private beach access area. They offered us late check out and it was so hard to leave. We can't wait to be back!!!

If you are in Laguna Beach please visit Capri Laguna Hotel. It is family friendly and it is right next to the beach. Bachir and Nick's hospitality exceeded my expectations. There is public transportation accessible to go into the downtown area. I cannot wait to visit again and strongly recommend to others.

Capri Laguna is a special place, incredible location on the beach, very good staff- all so attentive, friendly and helpful, comfortable rooms- quite spacious, and good value compared to nearby options, parking is free and they have a simple yet filling continental breakfast. Special shout-out to front desk staff Morgan who was always cheerful and spent time to explain to us where to go, what to do, and asking how we were doing whenever we passed by. Having staff so pleasant really makes the experience. Also, a big shout-out to hotel staff Costa who seemed to take care of everything, including setting up beach chairs and umbrellas, sweeping up sand, pouring afternoon wine (which is also complementary along with cheese & crackers). When we sat on the beach, Costa was kind enough to bring towels to us without us even asking, it's those thoughtful gestures that make all the difference, you rarely find it these days. Free continental breakfast is not a full hot meal, it's mainly breads, yogurt and fruits, though the waffle maker was very nice, and we appreciated the chance to stay at the hotel and bring breakfast right back to our room or sitting out on the public areas, either on the roof or the beach and enjoy breakfast in front of the water. There was a nice mix of guests. I can see some families may get stares or complaints from some of the higher end resorts where guests expect less kids running around so this had a good feel, more welcoming all sorts of people. We chose a suite with an ocean view and balcony and it was worth it. Very spacious, with fridge, microwave and coffeemaker. Rooms are a bit older, without built-in A/C but the separate A/C units worked fine though some might be annoyed by how loud they are. You actually couldn't hear the waves if you have your A/C on. Our room also did not have a sliding screen door which was disappointing because we could not keep the door open to enjoy the outdoor sounds and fresh air as flies flew in whenever we kept it open. The only main tip is for parking. Many of the spaces are tight, and I mean you may be nearly just a few inches away from a pole or the car beside you, that gets very tough to park if you're not comfortable so highly suggested to leave the mini-van or truck behind and opt for a smaller car. Still, can't complain at all as parking is free, not the case with many other places. And once you park, the trolley stops right in front so it's super convenient getting around town. If you set your expectations that Capri Laguna is not one of the overpriced 5-star resorts that you find all around Laguna (so it doesn't have a full restaurant or bar, or spa services), but is more of a relatively value-priced (especially on weekdays) boutique hotel on the beach, with limited facilities, but makes the most of what it has, then you will have a great stay here.

Lovely gift from the front Manager.

Capri Laguna was such a lovely boutique stay in Laguna Beach. Our room was cozy, super clean, and the bed was seriously comfortable. The location is a huge win--easy walk to the beach, restaurants, shops, and all the Laguna charm. The staff was AWESOME. Big shoutout to Esmerlda and Morgan, and the general manager Nick--everyone was genuinely friendly and made us feel taken care of the whole time. Nick even had roses sent to our room, which was truly the icing on the cake. We also loved the little touches: light breakfast in the morning, coffee available 24/7, and easy beach access. No downsides for us at all. I went with my best friend and we had the best time--would absolutely stay here again and recommend it to anyone. Lisa & Yvonne

My husband and I just spent the weekend at Capri Laguna, Laguna Beach. It's a charming boutique hotel with easy access to the beach. Our room was a pool view but from the patio off our room we could see the ocean. We watched the sunset both nights from the main patio equipped with tables, loungers, and other comfortable seating. Our room was spacious and the beds and bedding very comfortable. The accommodations overall were wonderful. The hotel is in a great location, the "hip district" and a short walk to main beach, shops, and restaurants. The management and staff were friendly, accommodating, and extremely welcoming. Big shoutout to Bachir, Nick, and Morgan. We stayed here once years ago as well. Capri Laguna will continue to be our go to hotel when we visit Laguna Beach in the future.

She explained all the hotel's amenities. In addition to the room charge, a $40 resort fee got us: 1. On-site parking; 2. Welcome sangrias; 3. Chocolate chip cookies each night; 4. A European styled breakfast each morning from 7am to 10am; 5. Wi-fi; 6. Beach chairs and umbrellas. Parking in Laguna Beach is a premium, so parking at the resort was great. The city of Laguna offers a free shuttle with a bus stop almost in front of the hotel. So we parked our car and took the shuttle all over town. The property is a well maintained, quant renovated 26 room Italian style resort. It's clean, charming, and has lots of character. It felt nice being at a small property and not at a large commercial hotel. We felt like we were back in Italy on vacation again! Just walking past the front of the hotel, you would not know that there is a luxury resort inside. They have a heated swimming pool (83 degrees), a sauna, and a secluded sun bathing lounge area and several other amenities. We opted for the heated wellness treatment which is a jacuzzi hot tub for two with mineral water. But they also offer single and couples messages and other message therapies. They have a quant internal courtyard for dining as well. We enjoyed a great European breakfast each day which was well prepared, fresh, healthy, and served by great hostesses. We especially liked the frittatas, fresh squeezed orange juice, hot coffee, and iced cold lemon water. The property is a historic landmark, so it doesn't offer handicap accessibility. So if you or someone in your group is in a wheel chair or uses a walker then this property won't work for you. Overall we really enjoyed staying here and would definitely go back again.

We very much appreciated all the amenities this inn had to offer such as the welcome drink, evening cookies (delicious!), sauna, sunblock at the pool, towels, lovely breakfast.. all complimentary (breakfast with resort fee). We also appreciated the 10% military discount. We stayed in room 23 which was a standard queen bed with garden view and liked that spot because it felt central, private, and quiet. The room is on the smaller side but it was fine. It does not have a fridge but they provide an ice bucket. We ended up putting our bottled waters on top of the AC box and that kept it cool. Being that the inn is beautifully historic, there weren't many outlets inside the room. The bath robes were very plush. Both lamp shade knobs didn't seem to turn properly but we made it work somehow. Otherwise, we felt well taken care of throughout our stay and so glad we came. Aside from the inn, there is a walk to get to Victoria Beach. We walked south along Coast Highway to Victoria Place and found the underpass from there. We also took the free trolley outside of the hotel to get around town. It could be quite a wait for the trolley as we waited 30 mins. There is a QR code on the sign to track the trolley locations.

Wasn't surprising to see takeout bags all throughout the halls. - As others stated $75 a night parking fee is wild but you can take your car out as much as you like since there is no Valet - zero amenities in the room -- you have to pay for toothbrush, no water bottles or even carafes of water. Overall the staff, outside of the lovely check in woman were essentially non existent. No cleaners, and even in the morning there were 2 men but they didn't greet or acknowledge anyone. Again for $300 it would be fine and expected but for $600 and on some days even $1K a night on the 4th of July this is wildly overpriced for what you get.

The housekeeper is excellent. My room was extremely clean for the duration of my stay. The gentleman who checked me out at the end of my stay was very pleasant. However, I am only giving three stars because first impressions are lasting and the woman who was working the Office check-in desk when I arrived made me feel like an annoyance who was interrupting her work. She was efficient but less than welcoming during the check-in process. Unfortunately, I had to interact with this woman two more times during my stay and each interaction was equally unpleasant. My goal in staying at The Tides was to destress but she made me feel like "Bad Dog". Soon after checking in, I had to return to the Office to ask for assistance with accessing the WiFi and a day later, I had to ask for assistance with accessing the pool. I assumed that I needed to use my hotel key to open the gate to the pool. The Office woman made me feel like a fool when she rolled her eyes and said in a tone that I interpreted as exasperated, "There's a latch at the upper top corner of the gate." She was right. There was a latch but it was painted the same color as the gate and I didn't notice it. I only noticed the key hole. My bad. As I floated in the pool, I said to myself, "You are Bad Dog." Someone needs to explain to this Office woman that without these pesky visitors, her business will have no customers and she will have no job.

Last but not least, nothing beats a beautiful view of blue ocean waves as you turn down for the night. The rooms are modern and designed with just the right touch of coastal chic.

When I reported the incident, I expected at least a professional investigation and clear communication. Unfortunately, neither was provided. The most frustrating part was the lack of communication from hotel management. I had to follow up seven separate times before receiving any meaningful response regarding my claim. Even then, the information I received was inconsistent and contradictory. One hotel associate told me that security cameras were being reviewed, while another later informed me that there are no cameras in the parking lot at all. This lack of coordination and transparency made an already stressful situation even worse. When the hotel finally responded, they pointed to a limited liability disclaimer allegedly printed on the parking placard. However, the placard I was given was already torn when I received it, and I was never asked to read, acknowledge, or sign anything related to parking liability. Using a damaged placard as evidence that guests were properly informed feels misleading and raises serious concerns about how these policies are communicated. While I understand that hotels may have policies limiting liability, I expected better security measures, more professional communication, and a genuine effort to assist a guest whose property was damaged on-site. Instead, I encountered delays, conflicting information, and a complete lack of accountability. Based on this experience, I would strongly encourage future guests to exercise caution when parking here and to carefully document the condition of their vehicle and any parking materials they receive. The hotel's handling of this situation has left me with little confidence in its commitment to guest service and customer care.
