Very happy to have a place like this in Indianapolis! This was my second time visiting, and I will be going back to see if I can up my skee-ball score! Drinks are reasonably priced ($12 for cocktails) given the location and built-in entertainment. I would give 5 stars, but some of the games aren't usable or only partially functioning. Workers are very friendly. Pictured is a "Hell or Hibiscus," which I liked but was very very sweet. My friend got the "Gintendo", which she loved and will get again. My recommendation is to go on a week night if you want to have the best access to all of the games as it gets packed on the weekends. read more

I loved this bar!! It was great, and they have a really simple policy. If you buy one drink, all the games are free. I will say I was a little confused because it seemed that I would've been able to play the games without buying a drink. I'm not sure if you all want to test your luck with that. The drinks aren't that expensive to me. The slushees are especially cheap. I got a blue raspberry slushee mixed with gin, and it was $6.50. They put a nice amount of alcohol in the slushee too. I came out one of my first nights in Indianapolis with colleagues here, and had so much fun! This place was full of people as it was a Friday night, but plenty of games were available and there were seats open. Bartenders were very sweet and efficient, though I think they might have needed more than two! Even still, I had a wonderful time at 16-Bit and will be coming back. This place brings me back to my childhood when I used to go to the arcade and play video games. Sundays are great at 16 Bit Arcade because they have 50% craft beer specials, so our group took advantage of this while watching the colts game. We also took advantage of the free video games and skee ball game upstairs!! It was like I was 8 or 9 years old again and it felt great!!! Our server, whose name I don't remember, was a ray of sunshine!! She kept us entertained with her wit and personality and took very good care of our group. We received excellent customer service!! They have a variety of old school video games and new video games as well, so whatever you like or grew up with, it is here at 16 bit Arcade and you can play for as long as you want as long as you order a beer or cocktail from their menu. Very nice place. A group of friends decided to stop by after dinner to check the place out and it did not disappoint. The location is very spacious with 2 levels of retro games that are all free (minus pinball). I was a bit sad that pac-man was working but there were plenty of other games to try out. The place was packed for a Saturday night, but there were plenty of spaces to hang out. There were TVs playing old 80's shows. Some had couches in front to lounge around. A bar was upstairs and downstairs and had some interesting drinks. There was a space to sit outside and enjoy games of jumbo jenga. This was just an overall good time. I used to love 16 Bit-but I won't be coming back after last weekend. My friends and I weren't allowed in as we were 'too drunk.' The bouncer physically pushed us out of the door. I understand safety, too drunk customers, etc., but the group I was with was sober, not acting rowdy at all. I understand that it's the bouncer's discretion to decide who to let in, but I'm mainly just confused as to why we weren't, and why it was done so forcefully. I (again) try to be understanding, but it was disappointing (and confusing) to be treated that way. Won't be coming back. read more

Fun & lively bar in downtown Indy! I've always ubered some not sure how I'd go about parking, but I know there's street parking and a parking garage near by. The outdoor area is awesome when it's nice out, seating and fire pits to enjoy drinks by. The inside is full of classic arcade games to play for free. Such a fun place! We came on a Monday night around 8:00 pm and the crowd was small which gave us the opportunity to play almost every game without any wait. This place is HUGE so our friends told us that even on the weekends it doesn't seem too crowded. We played a bunch of skee ball which is located on the second floor. The cocktail list is great. Tons of fun drinks that I can't wait to try when I go back. I got "The Dude" which had chocolate bitters, vanilla vodka and kahlua. It was good but I dont think I'd get it again. Man, what a great bar! We came here earlier on NYE to have a couple of drinks and we were impressed with pretty much everything. First, the games are free! This is a super important aspect of any barcade that some places get wrong. If I'm already buying drinks at your establishment, that should cover all of the arcade games as well. As expected, the games tend to be pretty old (stuff like Millipede) but there are a few slightly newer games like Mortal Kombat III, NFL Blitz '99, etc. They also had skee-ball for free so I got some good practice in :) The drinks were very tasty - cool cocktails and a large beer selection. There was a bar upstairs and downstairs, so it was always easy to grab a drink when needed. I would say the drinks were a tiny bit expensive, but I imagine they crank up the price slightly to account for making the games free, so that makes sense. Overall, I will definitely try to come back here next time I'm in Indianapolis - it was a very good experience! read more

There are two floors of arcade games that are all free-to-play, with the exception of the pinball machines (bring some quarters!). They also have an atm in-house if needed. They have sections with TVs and couches on each floor; my favorite was their downstairs section with retro game consoles (think SEGA Genesis) where you can hang out over some Street Fighter and other games. And not to mention the cocktail selection! We had a Carrie Fisher and a Game Over, and both were great; I would take your time with the latter. I like 16-Bit. It has its downsides, but I keep coming back despite those. The bar is huge. It's an open concept with two stories and a bar on the second floor. They've really put effort into the decor. The TV is surrounded by old movies and vintage toys. The bathrooms have neon signs in each stall with cool sayings. The sinks are outside to make sure folks wash their hands before playing games! The game selection is also really good and there's free Skeeball, even though it's almost always taken. Despite loving this place, there have definitely been times where I've felt unwelcome. I've waited at the crowded bar, felt like bartenders looked at me, and then went to someone else who came after me. If it's not intentional, they need a better system. So.much.fun. My husband and I stumbled in here on a Friday afternoon for our anniversary. We grew up in the 90s, it was like walking into our childhood all over again. Mario Bros themed walls, Pac Man & TMNJ arcades, Scobby Do playing on the big screen and a gigantic Lite-Bright on the back wall. What?! My 12-year-old, preteen self squealed in delight to the Slush Puppie Machines! The games are free if you purchase a drink. And if you don't drink - no worries! They have sodas, energy drinks, mocktails, and non-alcoholic Slush Puppies as an option. I believe the pinball machines are $0.50 each but we were so entertained by everything else, we didn't have time to try them. Going on a weekday afternoon was a great decision because we felt like we had the place to ourselves and there were no waits for any of the games. It was fun! I'm not even a video-gamer and had a great time here. Makes for an awesome date or group outing! I noticed other cities have kid-friendly hours and I would LOVE to see this come to Indy! Alright, we found all of Indy's stylish singles... they're hanging out at 16-Bot drinking 90s- inspired cocktails and playing free video games. This two-story arcade bar oozes cool in the way some others ooze nerd (I'm probably more of a nerd but the people watching is great at both). Located in the heart of downtown Indy in a new development (The Whit...and former Indy Star block) at the south end of Mass Ave, this is a stylish addition to an area that is currently being developed and connecting the wholesale district and Mass Ave corridors. You'll find two stories of arcade bars, craft cocktail bars on both that start off at $8 a pop and fun neon lights and decor that give it more of a club feel than gaming spot. The music was almost loud enough that you could break out in a dance between Pac-Man and ski-ball. It was a beautiful Sunday to be outside, this place had outside seating as well and it's a nice place to be with friends. 03/20/2022, I went to 16-Bit for the first time and met my friends there, I was happy to finally be out because of being a healthcare worker I normally don't see daylight. I went to the bar to order a drink and it was 3:12 or so and no one acknowledged me, I am a very patient person so I waited seems like the bartenders are busy but there's people coming next to me and ordering drinks and people that already been sitting at the bar the bartenders continue to take their order drink orders. I finally spoke up and said "is this where I order to get a drink?" And the gentleman wearing a black shirt said yes, and said I do this side and it wasn't the side I'm on and I said yes, he mentioned it to another gentlemen and I could barely see the name in his polo it ended with -olph, he looked and me and walked away. I still stood there to give more a shot, but I still wasn't served and it was 3:45 by the time I gave up and went back outside to socialize with my friends. It's like they prioritize what could be regulars? I'm not sure, but customer service is definitely not what they thrive for. I believe in second chances but not here, I won't come back here. Location/parking/ambience: right by mass ave and Delaware so there is plenty of street and garage parking even during busy times. It's new so obviously a lot of people here even when you wouldn't expect but it's legitimately huge and you will never have issues finding a table to chill at, a bar spot to order drinks, or a game to play! No cover when I went on Sunday evening but they do card at the door, at least while I was there. There's outdoor seating as well if you just want to hang out and there are tables between all the games for setting down drinks. The place is 2 floors with games and a bar on each floor. Menu: special cocktails, mocktails, and classic liquor based drinks - I recommend the The Starman! My favorite so far! No food but you can bring in snacks from other places! The bartenders are friendly and helpful as well when asked to recommend drinks. Prices seemed to be within $8-10 for cocktails which is pretty typical of this kind of place Games: free to play except pinball. But there is plenty of range and variation so there's something for everybody even if you aren't a big gaming person or good at arcade games (I am not!) - some games are out of order but they have visible signage and I still didn't think we ran out of things to do for a couple hours. The best part - SKEE BALL for days. If there's any issues with the games the staff is also very amiable and willing to help. Special mention for the decor both in the indoor area and the restrooms which are movie themed and brightly light. Hand washing area is up front and shared between the male and female restrooms which is a cool way to ensure everyone washes their hands! I attended the Live After 5 networking event hosted by Radio One at this location, and it was the perfect location for networking and entertainment. What I loved about this location is that the drinks are VERY affordable and the games are FREE....except for the pinball games, which are $0.50. I ordered the Pamela Anderson, which consisted of coconut rum, peach vodka, and various fruit juices. The bartenders were super friendly and helped me choose the best drink for me. I spent the majority of my time playing Skee-Ball. It's my favorite game of all time, so I was in heaven. 16-Bit Bar + Arcade is a great place for a date night or a night on the town. They also have reserved seating for larger parties. I also like the fact that the guest can also bring in outside food. I can't say enough great things about this place! Everything from the quirky drinks to the retro arcade games makes you feel like you've stepped into an earlier era. The place gives off such a positive vibe of people having fun and enjoying themselves. They have pins, skee-ball, classic arcade games, and even Jenga outside!
