After 10 years, the fro yo craze is back! When a friend told me about a meetup here, I couldn't say no! I used to go to the 16 Handles New Rochelle location so this was a bit of nostalgia for me. The brand as a whole has really changed things up over the years, including their collab with Oatly. I decided to get the vanilla with plenty of toppings including fresh fruit and wet walnuts. my best friend & i literally CRAVED this for the second time in like 2 weeks yesterday. lol it's thankfully a short walk from her crib, but it's so yummy. I get a mix of things! mint chocolate chip, cookies & cream, and peanut butter froyo.. a lot i know. toppings are crushed oreos, cheesecake bites, NUTELLA & HOT FUDGE (girl math says i deserve it all lol) no shame. they're always so sweet in there, i was struggling with the nutella yesterday lol the girl at the register was kind enough to help me :) yesterday we walked in & they were playing Keyshia Cole, yessssssss to the good music when we're being greedy! they always change the flavors, they have summer ones now it seems. 16 Handles When you take a day trip with family you sometimes get outvoted. I'm not a fan of 16 Handles. I haven't been since Covid. I also haven't been out of Manhattan recently. I have a 16 Handles in walking distance. I tried to like it but stopped going. I'm reviewing this based on a past visit. I'm talking about the concept of self service and deliciousness (or not) of the ice cream. In the case of 16 Handles I wasn't blown away. I'm not a fan of this business model no matter what the product. Customer Service when I went was fine. The drill is the same. I do like that I have a choice of how much I purchase and which flavors. I'm not into the add ons. I'm not a fan of self serve places like this where everyone handles the equipment. Now with Covid gloves or not you won't see me at any 16 Handles location. Even during the pandemic, 16 Handles is a good fit on this side of Mamaroneck Ave in White Plains. I'm sure pre-Corona, this spot would've been popping, but they've done away with indoor eating (not sure why because the rest of Westchester offers indoor dining). ¯\_(ツ)_/¯. My daughter Googled 'Vegan Desserts' and was lucky 16 came through. Front area where tables once stood, are now stacked with chairs and taped off- and sitting booths are also shut. Before you get all giddy with their FroYo, you need to put on plastic gloves and follow arrow floor indicators. They have several regular flavors and 4 Vegan to choose from. My kid loved the Vegan Chocolate and had it for a Saturday night dessert at home. I'm not sure how epic their toppings are but they've done away with their 'self-serve' scoopable goodies and went for the pre-packaged, Oreo, Gummi Bears, Sprinkles, etc in mini containers. Don't underestimate the look here, this FroYo serves its purpose and service was polite. read more

Employee was rude and refused to help me. Ignored me while being on her phone. This behavior is unacceptable and this behavior leads me to wonder who else may be receiving this treatment. The toppings bar was absolutely DISGUSTING with random toppings in places they shouldn't be in and she ignored it while she was on her phone. This establishment is clearly poorly run and disgusting. I remember when froyo was $.39 cents an ounce. Then it crept up to $.50 and that small froyo with toppings began crossing the $5 line and I decided spending more than $5 on my kid's froyo fetish wasn't a great alternative to their college savings plan. It's been a while since hitting up a froyo place, so when my number one kid asked me nicely if she could attend a state university to save money and allow her a froyo, I had to cave in and say yes. As she was filling her froyo cup and getting a little too happy, I learned the current inflated price of froyo here was $.90 cents per ounce, so I warned her to leave some money in the college fund for books and stuff so she released the handle and stepped away from the machine. The result: $9.53 for a medium sized froyo. Or, in laymen's terms, more money than our lunch cost at the adjacent pizza place. SUNY Westchester, here we come! read more

While I love 16 Handles, this LOCATION isn't on par. It feels a bit rundown and they are ALWAYS out of hot fudge for some unknown reason (you literally have one job - provide toppings). Hot fudge may seem like a "small thing" but when treating yourself to an $8-10 froyo, it should feel like...well, a treat. There are better options in the area. read more

I've passed this 16 Handles multiple times but was finally in a froyo mood so I decided to check it out. Besides this spot, the only other place in White Plains to get any sort of ice cream or frozen concoction is Cold Stone further down Mamaroneck Ave. I really wish there was an actual ice cream parlor in the city (that made their own ice cream) but alas - these are the cards we're dealt. I'm not giving enough credit to 16 Handles though - it's a spacious location and they keep it very clean. There are usually families here all the time but I lucked out and it was pretty quiet when I arrived. They have a good selection of flavors and the consistency of the froyo is on point. Topping selection was also good, and checkout was fast. Handles is a solid froyo spot in White Plains. They have a nice selection of flavors in a clean, welcoming environment. It's a little bit down from the main hub of Mamaroneck Ave but worth the walk. read more

Friendly staff who offer sample cups/spoons for you to taste flavors before purchasing. Tons of toppings including warmed hot fudge, cheesecake bites and fruit. A retail freezer as you enter has cakes, pints and quarts. The only reason this location did not receive 5 stars is because when we stay to enjoy our fro-yo, the booth seats always need attention. I realize little kids make a mess and sprinkles are a pain to clean up when dropped/spilled. But please remind the staff that when a table is wiped down, debris will fall onto the seats...and when the seats are wiped, debris will fall onto the floor...it is not easy especially when it's busy but your customers will appreciate your efforts read more

Went to 361 Mamaroneck Avenue in White Plains Location on sat with my wife and 6 years old daughter. This is our 16 handle location and we use to go very often since we lived nearby. I understand that due to covid-19 many of the stores and services have changed from what they used to be, but, denying the usage of the bath to a child should be granted at least as a courtesy or as an exception. Employees attending and facing the public should be trained on when exceptions should be granted (ie for a child or an elderly customer). Not planning to come back anymore to this location due to this awkward experience. read more

We used to go to the 16 Handles on 3rd Ave. all the time, so we were pretty psyched to see one open in White Plains. The atmosphere here is very pleasant, there's a reasonable amount of seating, and the branch is immaculate. As for the frozen yogurt, the quality is as great as I remember and there are heaps of flavors to choose from. They even have a few low cal offerings. Also, the assortment of toppings is pretty decadent, but remember that they really do add up weight wise and you are paying by the ounce. I don't think there are all that many self serve froyo places in the immediate area, so I hope that 16 Handles can survive here. This part of Mamaroneck Ave up doesn't get all that much foot traffic even in the warmer months so it'll be interesting to see if they can survive the coming fall/winter. read more

The only decent employee is the tall guy. The women are either brain dead, and I'm being as kind as Yelp will allow me, or nasty in attitude and hate being there and it shows. They can barely speak when attempting to ask you, through their mumbling, "Do you have the app?" or "Do you want a spoon or a top?" I can't stand the place anymore. read more

I really like this place, so much so that I'm always bugging my husband to go there with me. I love the variety of flavors even though I usually wind up getting some variation on the same thing - either chocolate and salted caramel, or mint. The toppings are great. One caution, though - beware of the attack fudge machine! The last time we went, I tried to put hot fudge on my yogurt and the machine sprayed fudge all over the place. We had to go home immediately after eating so I could change my shirt! (The staff just kind of looked at me and one of them was like, "Oh yeah, it does that sometimes." I would've liked it if they'd offered me some water to clean off my shirt with, but oh well.) I'm not crazy about the seating at this place, though I guess there's enough of it given the space that they have. It just gets really busy and can be a little difficult to find a place to sit, and some of the seats don't have any back support, which can be a problem for us. The prices are high, but that's no surprise for this area. Overall, I think this is a good addition to what White Plains has to offer and I hope it will stick around for a while. read more

Not sure if other stores started to do this, but if you would like to sample the flavors, you have to ask the worker and have her get it for you. Then, tell her what else you want to try. Though I understand it may be to prevent waste or prevent people from sampling too much, the experience was just really awkward. The raspberry machine wasn't working, and it seemed like the workers didn't know how to fix it. The toppings were also more candy-based. BLUF: Your average froyo place with a bit higher prices than normal but there's not too many alternative options nearby to opt to. There is quite a variety of frozen yogurt flavors to choose from including low calorie options. Also, there is a lot of topping to choose from but it seems heavily chocolate/candy based rather than fruit and mochi which is what I usually like on my yogurt. On an interesting note, the tasting process is something different. In order to get a sample, you need to have an employee dispense it into sampling cups rather than them handing cups out to you. Not sure if it is a franchise policy or it is just this branch since this is the only 16 Handles I've been to, but was a little strange having an employee follow me around to taste flavors. Legit in love with this place. The best part is that they have ready to-go pints and quarts which are actually cheaper when bought like that rather than by weight. They also have cakes (!) and other yums. Constantly rotating their froyo flavors, it's easy to find at least one to love. I only go for plain tart and their toppings are standard, fruits, chocolates, sauces, hot fudge, even whipped cream. Delish delish. A bit on the pricey side but not bad if you're looking for a treat. They get busy often, and the only thing I would suggest is to not answer the phone when you're actually closed! Gets my hopes up and I'm super let down when it's 11 and for some reason I wonder if they're open: I call and omg! They answer! Only to tell me they're closed. Big let down. I never take the time to write a review, however, this visit is an exception. I am so displeased with my experience at this location as I have been to previous 16 Handles. As I entered the 16 Handles in white plains, I felt the heat which was worse than outside! This time the customer service was on point and in fact the workers were kind and helpful, it seems like one of the workers had brought in a fan for the other workers and the customers, but the heat was just not bearable at all. The toppings were all melting and the yogurt was all liquid instead of frozen. This was not the first time but the second time I have experienced this, the first time I experienced this was maybe a week ago and now again today! I love 16 Handles but I really think someone has to do something about this problem. People come to 16 Handles to get frozen yogurt and cool down but instead I left with a somewhat frozen yogurt and dis-shaped toppings! I hope next time I don't experience this or anything even close to this! read more

They wait to be told by the customers that they are out of certain flavors or that the whipped cream dispenser is empty. This has happened 3 times when I've been there.
