This was my first time ever getting highlights and my experience at 17 HAIR Studio was wonderful!! She showed me colors based on the pictures I showed her. Do not come here if you do not need clippers or thinning sheers for your hair cut! My fiancé came here for his hair to be trimmed between an inch and 2 inches. When it was his turn to sit in the seat, the barber had not a clue what he was doing and had to ask the owner for help, even though my fiancé showed him pictures of exactly how he wanted his haircut... they were pictures of himself with shorter hair. He wanted length taken off the top as well as the back. The barber butchered his hair and did not take any length off the top and did not cut the back of his hair evenly. As well as, he used thinning shears on his gorgeous thick hair, and we did not mention anything about thinning out his hair. His one thick curly hair is now pin straight and is not reacting to any hair products. We will not be coming back here. read more

My roommate and I got our haircuts here last minute. It was wonderfully cheap ($15 for a women's haircut and $20 if you want a wash too!) They were available for walk-ins and the service was quick and professional. Everyone is SO NICE! This joint has been my go to ever since my original barber moved across the country. I legit wait for Frank but everyone else there does a good job. But more importantly the quality and price is what keeps me coming back. $7-8 for a men's haircut and let me assure you that Frank and everyone else takes their time. Once you sit down, for sure you're leaving with a clean cut! Weekends are a little bit busier but it's honestly hit or miss. Also, it's a first come first serve basis and the barbers are pretty aware of who came in first and aren't biased, at least what I've seen. Barbers are very nice, listen to what you want, and are always down for a conversation once you're in the chair. Frank will also offer recommendations if you're not sure what you want! I normally settle with a bald fade to a 2-3 and trim the top for a spiky combover look. And Frank's fade are SUPER CLEAN. Give this place a shot, you will not be disappointed! My son and I have been cutting our hair here for almost three years, but most recently I took my son for haircut lady named Nina. She used sharp devices so carelessly that she cut my son's skin on his scalp and his neck, not a friendly experience. I've been coming here since I moved to Chicago. Like every barber shop, you gotta know who to go to. My go tos are Sergio (and I'm nice so I'm giving away my special guy's name) and Frank. I had one older gentleman who really messed up my hair, but the other two I tip around 30-40%. They kill it always, and Frank is a great conversationalist. To start with i only saw Muhammed and as years went by work got in the way and i would only have time on the days my barbers was off so i took a chance and cheated on him with Frank and Sargon(the Dude) as my son has named him. Sargon is my sons barber and on ocassion if he is not there will only see franco otherwise he will not i repeat will not get a haircut from anyone else per his own desicion he has stated to me that they are the best.
