Asked for a cleanup around my ears and neck. Mike took chunks out of my hair and let me walk out looking like a fool. Went to a real barber and got it fixed, came back to Mike and he claimed I could have combed over it, then claimed he didn't do it, then asked why I didn't come back for him to fix it. Why would I go back and let you mess up the rest of my hair? Didn't even offer a refund. Don't let Mike cut your hair, period. read more

I just wanted a cleanup for my overgrown pixie cut and I got a good one from Caldian. But the woman who was doing it couldn't understand English so her husband translated everything to her, which was a tiring, time-taking process. Also, she wet my hair so much so that the water dripped onto my neck. But at 12$, I am not complaining. The salon is a block away from Kedzie brown line. read more

I get my haircut here by mike he is amazing great guy. Very friendly and always makes you feel at home. He is very knowledgeable with hair and will advice you with his expertise . I have curly hair and I had no idea what to do with it anymore. I recommend this place not only do they it amazing hair but they use the blades like no other to line up your beard etc. the eyebrows they do here are also amazing . Romel is the absolute best. I am a colorist in a very upscale salon in Chicago and I won't trust anyone other than Romel to give me consistently amazing results. While the salon itself needs a facelift, Romel is reason enough to over look the spaces shortcomings. You will not be sorry. 10 year client and I should have written this review years ago. My only complaint is the pricing. Romel's work is worth DOUBLE of what he currently charges. Perhaps a suggestion for the owner. read more

I came here to get a simple trim/layered haircut as well as threading. The lady who did my hair was not the boss but someone younger and seemingly less experienced from what I can tell by all her coworkers asking how she was doing with me. Anyway, she washed my hair and I asked if it was extra and she said no. This should've already been a sign that money was a bit sensitive on my part. Then she proceeded to cut my hair. She then asked if I wanted it blow dried whereas I naturally said yes since it was wet. When she was done, my hair was curled and looked "going-out" ready. I was surprised that this came with the haircut because she didn't tell me that it was extra or anything. When I went to pay, I found out my haircut(30min) was $20 and the blowdry/curl(10min) was $30. This was super shady on her part and I really didn't appreciate that she didn't tell me that it was extra. So side note, know what you're getting and triple check. read more

I've gone here twice now and have been pleased with my haircut both times. It's a pretty simple setup, and a haircut is only $10! They do a good job and don't rush through you to get to the next customer. And my absolute favorite part is that they use an actual razor for the sideburns, neck hair, and temple (?? is this what it's called!?) hair. It keeps that nasty hair away longer than a plain old shave with an electric razor, which is nice in between haircuts! read more

I got my haircut done by Mike here. I moved into the area from California, I always get my sides faded high up, but I try to keep it a bit longer up top. It is very easy to screw up, the one time I went off my usual barber all the progress I had on it was destroyed. So when I left California and tried to search for one here, I was worried. I ended up coming to this place off of reviews, said I needed a faded, and Mike worked on me. I never had a razor finish before, my hair was great, and it was only ten bucks which is the cheapest I've gotten my hair cut before. Great haircuts, they take the time and get it right every visit. The price for the amount of service is amazing. Mike and his team are awesome, and make you feel at home. The shop is small and can get crowded during busy times, but it always thins out pretty quickly, which baffles me, bc they are meticulous about haircuts and this is not a quick cut with clippers kind of place. For someone like myself who is picky about his hair, I am totally impressed with Caldian. Mike, Romel (I hope I spelled that right) and the others are fantastic. Not only do they pay attention to detail, but they are also very talented hair stylists. They all get a major "10" from me. You could walk in at any time when they're open and always get a fantastic haircut. Not only that, their prices can't be beat. I've paid twice as much at chain hair salons and have had my hair scalped by people who shouldn't even be allowed in there.
