If you want soupy, bland, and rubbery chicken Alfredo, this is the place for you! My husband and I came here for a date night and were extremely disappointed. The waiter seemed stressed with his tables and checked on us very few times. When our food arrived, he simply said "enjoy" and rushed off before seeing if we needed anything. I ordered the shrimp scampi and it was very bland. Tasted like buttered noodles and bland microwaved shrimp. My husband's chicken Alfredo quite literally almost sloshed out of the bowl with how soupy it was. The chicken was rubbery and bland as well. We paid $77 to be sad and hungry. 10/10 don't recommend. read more

we had dinner last night in Temple at 17 S. It was an exclusively excellent meal. We had their shrimp scampi. The pasta was perfect the sauce was perfect the shrimp just a touch overdone. Ryan hit it out of the park again! Food and drinks were great! Had the lamb chops, flat ironsteaks, and ceviche.

We just had the most enjoyable, delicious dinner at 17 South! Sarie took great care of us from the moment we entered until the boxing up our leftovers. She was friendly, helpful and attentive. We started with a spicy margarita (unusual and delicious) and a mojito (the best I've ever had). We shared the fried green tomatoes and the crab cake appetizers, both excellent. I wanted to save room for dessert, so I just had the greens and berry salad, adding some grilled chicken. My husband had the jalapeño chicken that came with pasta and grilled vegetables. Both outstanding! We finished it off with tres leches! What a wonderful meal! We even brought home leftovers for tomorrow. Keith and Eric, the founders of 17 South, have come up with a beautifully designed, welcoming restaurant with absolutely delicious food! It was a highlight of our trip to Temple. read more

The service here was INCREDIBLE. Same with the food. I loved the flat iron dinner meal and is one of the best restaurants I've been to. The setting of the restaurant was beautiful it was a very fine establishment and all of the waiters/waitresses where friendly. They where fast with bringing out my food and I very much recommend going here. read more

I REALLY wanted to post a higher score. Walked in for the first visit and the place was buzzing and looked awesome. Very tasteful. Busy, but only about half full. We ordered drinks. ONE came out after about 20 minutes. Two more maybe 10 minutes later, as our entrees were brought out. Food was very good. Soup was a bit cool but still tasty. I had a blue cheese salad with added steak. Excellent. Then we were done. Four of us at the table. Two together, two separate. Took...I kid you not...4 to 5 attempts and about 15 minutes of trying to get the tickets right. So a bunch of hiccups but I'll be back in a few weeks. Menu is awesome, most prices seem fair. I travel to Temple from Austin for work once or twice a month. I found 17 South a few months ago and have been very impressed to find a place of this quality. Service has always been excellent, staff is very friendly, and food has consistently early been top-notch. Cute little space too, perfect for a nice date night. Not cheap but worth it. read more

So, I was viewing the menu for a few days for their cheesecake. I finally purchased one to go. Let me tell you, I was sooooo disappointed when I went to eat it. It absolutely did NOT resemble the picture at all not in the slightest. To pay 12 for a rectangle plan looking slice was beyond me. The taste was ok. I was very disappointed. Now with that being said their food may be awesome, I did not have a meal. I was more attracted to the cheesecake which ended up being a disappointment. Other than that the restaurant was clean and looks great inside. Staff is nice. read more

Service was great! Jalapeño Chicken was very good. Cheesecake wasn't sweet enough to me and it was topped with a fake whipped topping, not real whipped cream. I absolutely hate whipped topping so that kinda killed the cheesecake for me. I think a restaurant of this caliber should use real whipped cream. read more

Food was good, I ordered the sea bass and loved it. My only complaint was the tomato/olive sauce they put over it was ice cold as was my asparagus. The risotto was amazing and hot as was the fish it's self. I had two different specialty cocktails and enjoyed them both. Our server was so nice but was also bartending and our table was on the opposite end of the restaurant so things were a bit slow. Not upset since it seemed they might have been a bit short staffed. I would still recommend going and will still give a second try since they are new and working kinks out! Hoping my review helps with kinks they may not be aware of. Awesome place. My husband and I had dinner there last night, and it was excellent; from the appetizer to dessert, everything was cooked and seasoned perfectly. The service was on point, and the ambiance was exceptional. I can't wait until they open up the speakeasy area upstairs in the future. I loved the place when it was Benny's and am equally impressed with the new vibe and owners who genuinely care about their guests having an excellent experience. This was our first time there and we were a party of nine celebrating my birthday. The food took a while to come out, but our waitress kept our drinks full and our bread baskets full. We acknowledged it was taking a long time for the food to come out however we just enjoyed the time visiting with each other. It was nice not feeling rushed like most restaurants. When the food came out, everybody at our table absolutely loved their food! Everything was so delicious! We'll definitely be going back. read more

My husband and I have visited 17 South on a few occasions and they have gone above and beyond every time! We had a young man and young woman waiting on us as we had a larger party. The service was outstanding! They were both very attentive and the group wanted or needed for nothing. Drinks came out quick and were very tasty and the food was divine. I had the ravioli and my husband had the steak and nothing could compare. They were exceptional. This is definitely my new favorite spot and will be recommending this establishment to everyone. 10/10 read more
