Good bombs and burgers fast service, ..................................................

I've been to this place twice and on both occasions the bar tender closed Very Early. Last night, July 11 2016, it was raining and the place had 20 people at the bar, and the hotel next door had another 10 people thinking about coming over, and at 9 pm the bartender said he was closing and ran everyone out, at least 15 customers left he said a storm was coming, we'll if a storm is coming and customers are stuck inside spending money what's the issue. They don't like customers and must not like making money . Do go here after 8 pm the bartender has an early bed time. read more

Just recently moved to Florence and heard about this place so my wife and I went for lunch........don't know if we caught them on a bad day or what? Tried to order a signature burger, after making 4 selections from the menu and not able to order any of them because they were out of one or more of the ingredients to make them we gave up and just ordered the plain burger(that's about all they had enough ingredients to make). We tried to order appetizers the famous tater bombs as the menu says......but they were out! Tried mozzarella sticks but they were out, so we just gave up and settled with the plain burger and fries. Nothing special. I was missing my bacon and was very mad because the burger didn't have much flavor. I did like that they had real ground beef. I got okra with my burger and okra wasn't that tasty. Kinda pricy. It's not all that. I'm a military guy that came thru to checkout! read more

Love this place. Came in to escape the horrible hotel next door. Excellent burgers, wonderful owner, great and diverse beer selection. If your staying near the Florence convention center or just looking for a burger and beer off of i95 this is a perfect spot. read more

Great beer selection, bbq, and customer service! Seemed family friendly and very accommodating - had the Top Gun and BBQ pork sandwich - they also sell Southern Barrel Brewing! The staff was very friendly and gave prompt service. Hope to come back soon. read more

We were very pleased with dinner here. We wanted a quick, cheaper option before going to bed and driving on to Myrtle Beach. The service was pretty good, the food was great, and the atmosphere was fun. There was a minor disappointment with my husband's chicken sandwich. It was supposed to have fried jalepenos which are his favorite, and there were only 2. When he mentioned it, they brought him a side of them and took 15% off our check on top of the 10% for checking in on yelp. Overall we all left full & happy. read more

Was staying in Florence for a night on our way to myrtle beach. Wanted to find some where cool and local with a unique menu. This place delivered! Wish I would of been 3 day starved because the portions are huge! They give you more then your money's worth. My GF had the buffalo chicken salad she's said it was amazing. She could tell the chicken wasn't just pulled from a bag chopped up and fried. It had been marinated and fried crispy. I had the Optimus Berger....they where not kidding! Two 7oz patties house made chili that was sweet and a little spicy. Killer bacon. Pepper jack and cheddar cheese. Crispy onion straws. All of this goodness was hugged together by two crispy, buttery and cheesy Texas toast grilled cheese sandwiches!! Amazing!! Huge! Kind of shame to cover those bergers with all that goodness. They where seasoned perfectly and cooked just right. Grilled and juicy. We had the potato bombs as an app. A must try. Absolutely fantastic. We also had the fried pickle chips they where crispy and delicious. The perfect meal to get the beach body in shape! Killer local place, a must try. A good selection of craft southern beers too! Average food but quick friendly service. THE GOOD: only a mile off i95. Quickly seated. Food takes 10-15 minutes to arrive. Friendly attentive service. The Yelp 10% off is nice. THE NOT-SO-GOOD: burgers taste more like McDonald's - over cooked pre frozen. Order them any way you want they will be well done and come warm but not hot. Fried pickles below average lack crunch. Expected better from South Carolina. If this place was in a major city going for gourmet burger joint it would get one star. Automatic gratuity for 2 adults and four young kids also annoying. We would have tipped 20% otherwise. read more

All the burgers I've had here are excellent. Fries leave something to be desired. Tater bombs are interesting but not great. Although you don't go to a burger bar for healthy eating you can get overwhelmed with the grease and fat content of the total meal. read more

Id say 4 stars for FOOD ONLY. Service we have had twice by women was awful. Rather it was they got order wrong or didnt give drink refills the service stunk. Only once with a guy server did we have good service. Bathrooms not so clean. Only food was awesome. my husband and I love love love Tater Bombs with ranch. Fried pickles great. He gets the Boss hog burger I do the Daisy. Fried onion strip sife is awesome with ranch. Its def heart attack food but amazing. You get ALOT fpr the money. read more

Very surprised by the average 4-Star rating for this burger place. 1720 Burger Bar certainly does not deserve it. The low lighting and screeching music certainly could not hide the grimy conditions. The floors are dirty, the tabletop had food crumbs, our forks were encrusted with food, the ketchup bottle and mustard plastic container looked as if no one ever wiped them off. A long black hair was stuck to the ketchup container, not very appetizing. The burger and fries were a disappointment. The basic burgers with American cheese, lettuce, tomato and pickles were tasteless, lacking distinction for a burger joint. The french fries were limp and oily and limp is an understatement. Our chocolate milkshakes were actually the vanilla flavor shakes disguised as chocolate. Where was the chocolate? Why give it one star, because it's a short walk from our hotel. read more

Best burgers in Florence, SC! I'm only taking away one star because just like the beef is hand patted, I wish the turkey burgers were as well. Once in awhile I'm not in the red meat mood and I was disappointed to find out they get their turkey burger shipped to them as already made patties. Boo! but the beef burgers are on point! While the food was good, the service was terrible. I sat here for Ten minutes before a server came to my table, he took awhile to bring my drinks and take my order, and I had to complain to a manager about me being in this restaurant for over 30- 40 minutes without my appetizer... and ten minutes later got my food with my appetizer. It was not the service I was looking for. I had my child with me too so her not being fed for that long made things worse. It was the middle of the day, and not very busy. read more

On the road back home from vacation found us hungry and searching Yelp in Florence, SC. Hadn't had a burger in awhile, so reviews led us here. Server Krysten was a little sloppy and brought us requested waters quickly, and then our appetizer fried pickles arrived hot and tasty with ranch and thousand island, and we finished them before she ever brought our draft New South whites, which we were kinda looking forward to enjoying with our pickles. I ordered the Boss Hog burger, which had ham, bacon, barbecue sauce and fried onion strings on the cheeseburger. It was very flavorful and delicious. I had onion strings on the side but could not eat them all. My wife had the spicy bubba chicken sandwich grilled, buffalo sauce, fried jalapeño slices and Monterrey jack cheese. Just the right amount of spice. She had sweet potato fries with a cinnamon dusting for her side item, and they were also plentiful and there were some left over. Overall a tasty lunch and we'd go back! One star off for not serving the beer with the appetizer. read more

Stopped while traveling back home. We like to try local spots instead of the basic chain restaurants & Not disappointed in the least!!! The burger choices all looked amazing. I myself had a "Sloth" burger with turkey as a substitute for beef. My hubby had the "Pittsburgher" Both were absolutely delicious!!! Service was great as well. Wow... the burgers my family and I had were great. The pulled pork for my 8 year old daughter was extremely spicy, and it was ordered from the kids menu? Even worse is the waitress wasn't surprised which indicates this happens on occasion if not more. Very odd they would make it so spicy, but obviously it's the one they use for the adults too... and they don't take credit card chips???? The safe way?? No safety there which is unfortunate because they are in a prime tourist trap. Be careful people. Very disappointing experience. And what's more annoying is I never voice. But they were not very considerate and actually asked me to go to an ATM to get cash??? I'm on vacation. Manager said this is a mom and pop place, literally said that. Ordered take out. Bad idea. Food looked good, good portion sizes, ready in 15 min ($68 worth), only problem was fried foods don't do well in styrofoam containers. Soggy and really greasy. Basically ruined it. Eat in and you might be satisfied. read more

Driving down I-95 to the sunny south search Yelp for a spot to stop in South Carolina, Florence. A number of establishments are closed on Mondays so we decided on burgers at 1720 Burger Bar. Upon entering we were greeted nicely by the young lady hostess and shown to our table. There were many TVs on with a nice crowd still eating at 8 PM. Our table was cleaning, but cold air was blowing on us. The air was supposedly lowered but we still had to retrieve coats from our car. The menu was very adequate with a selection of sandwiches, salads and of course burgers. Both of our burgers were EXCELLENT. The meat was tasty on both and cooked exactly as requested. Side order of fries were equally outstanding. The seasoning on them kept yelling to "eat more". The onion straws were also very good, but left a small amount of grease on the plate, whereas the fries were as dry as could be. The few negatives can be easily corrected: No soap in the men's room, top cold in the dining room, a few TVs had " no signal" on the screens. For these reasons I'm giving 4 stars as the food had me notating in my reminder list to stop here again when doing the 95 run. This is quality food and could easily be expanded across the country. read more

Greatly improved over our last visit! Our food was cooked correctly, served hot by friendly waiter. I tend to stay with what I know and have the Kelly most times the onion straws were crispy and the tater boys seem to have doubled in size and portion and are an absolute must to try. read more

This place was a pleasant surprise. We were driving through Florence, spending the night and had already made plans to go somewhere else. The desk clerk at our hotel which was right next door recommended it and we decided it was easier to walk across the parking lot. Wow! Very fresh, reasonably priced. We had two adults and three teenagers and all got their fill and then some. The menu was a good mix of burgers, chicken and sandwiches (not just burgers and the name might suggest) and all were terrific. Service was great. Glad we followed the hotel's advice. And later in the evening, my wife called and ordered milk shakes for her and the kids and they even delivered to the hotel. Great local spot! read more

This place is awesome! They take the traditional burger and put a twist on it! They have tons of different and somewhat "crazy" sounding burgers, but let me tell you...sometimes the craziest things turn out to be the most delicious. I ordered the "Punky Brewster" burger (I believe that was the name, forgive me if I'm wrong) but anyway...it's a standard burger with bacon and peanut butter, yes, peanut butter! And it's amazing! I also love that the burgers all have 1990's inspired names, like the Kelly Kapowski, (Yes...I love Saved By the Bell) and the decor is all late 80's and 90's themed as well. So if you want a great burger with a twist, (or if you just wanna reminisce about the good ole 90's while eating a delicious burger) definitely try this place out! read more

Staying next door at the Home2 Suites and they recommended this place. We were exhausted after so long in the car so decided to give it a try. GREAT recommendation! The tater bombs are soo good and burgers were perfect. Combine that with a full bar and you can't best this place. Service was super friendly and prices reasonable. On our way home to Pawleys Island we made a last minute stop picked via previous reviews. And it was AWESOME. Creative combinations with a quality burger make it delicious and unique. There are some non burger items as well. My husband and I had burgers. My daughters had a chicken sandwich, smoked pork and a sub. The wings were good as well as the sides. You must eat here. Let's face it. Eating along the interstate at best is normal chain fast food or at worst sucks. 1720 burger bar is one of the best lunch or dinner choices you could make while driving the 95. The Tatar bombs were outstanding either as a side or appetizer. We had the Kelly burger and the Pittsburger. Both were huge and really tasty. Bring your appetite the portions are big and they taste so good it is a shame not to finish. It's a fun pop-culture decorated restaurant. The service was top notch...very attentive and got it all right, first time. We will make this a regular lunch or dinner spot when we drive. This place rocks. (BTW: they have a Homer burger which is served between two glazed donuts. That by itself is a reason to come back.) read more
