I've been to the cigar bar several times in the past and it was an ok place to have a cigar and a drink. This review is after I visited since new ownership. WOW, they really cleaned up the place. No more dilapidated furniture. New sound system, more drink selection, and a better variety of cigars. They updated the ventilation system and it's not overly smoky in there. Last time we were there they were still working on some of the renovations, but I can't wait to see it when everything is completed. We have gone a few times recently and had a great time. If you like a chill environment to have a cigar and some drinks, you gotta come and check out the cigar bar now. And remember, it's not just a place just for guys bring your ladies and have a good time. read more

Great to see some new blood in ownership. They are slowly but steadily improving the humidor with new brands and eliminating older unpopular ones. The tobacconist is top notch and knows his stuff. If you ever need a recommendation he's your go to guy. Bar staff is friendly and attentive. read more

My husband and I love coming to enjoy the air conditioning durning the summer hours and a nice place to smoke a cigar In the winter, however The place needs some updating The couches in the back room are less than appealing. If you sit on one you may never be able to get out... and the ash trays would take 20 seconds to wipe out, just seems like a little improvement could go a long way and would possibly become a very popular place to come for an after dinner cigar/drink or pre-game to your night out. The cigar and drink selection is pretty good. The staff is always welcoming and friendly. I could have done 2.5 stars but it's just not quite a 3 read more

Great place! I went with my husband for the first time recently and had a very nice bartender named Marie(?) help us find my husband a nice cigar. I had a glass of their 5$ red wine special and it was delicious! My husband had an IPA and was very happy with the beer selection and cigar she helped us pick out We will definitely be back soon! read more

first time i have come here...and i was pleased. Nice to find a cigar shop that is open late in Bakersfield. So many times i get off work and everywhere in town to grab a quality cigar is already closed. the location really seems like more of a bar than a cigar shop at times, especially on the weekends. Their selection is on the smaller side, and when i came in there wasn't anyone with real experience with the stock they carry, though the bartender that was present was very helpful, her actual knowledge was lacking. If you know what you are looking for already then it's no big deal, and they seem to carry most of the popular smokes. i can't speak for any other time than on a Saturday night at this point, but they did have some hip/hop rap type music playing. I don't mean that stuff you normally hear on the radio, but a more hardcore station found on a satellite station was my guess. the mix was kind of confusing...cigar shop, turned into a bar, with cowboy type people, playing hip hop music? either way we had a good time stopping in read more

I came here with a friend who happened to be a fan of this place. I do enjoy a good cigar every once in awhile and didn't even realize a place like this existed in Bakersfield. The place itself is rather small. They have a bar that seats about 5 and only serves beer and wine. Also in the same area are 2 small tables that sit 4 comfortably. There is also a small room next to the bar area with two leather sofas and a large leather chair. I couldn't imagine coming here when the place is busy as there is not enough room to move around or seating to accommodate a large crowd. They do however have a fairly good sized walk in humidor which has a fairly large selection of cigars at decent prices. My one big complaint about this place is the lack of ventilation. If you came here and weren't a cigar smoker I could see you having a very big problem with the place. Even I, as a cigar smoker, was pretty overwhelmed by the smoke. The bad part is there was hardly anyone there when we were. Imagine if the place was full. Due to the lack of ventilation I left smelling like I hot-boxed a small closet with Groucho Marx and George Burns. The same smell seems to linger in my car even after airing it out for two days. Even after all that however I would probably come back here during a late night around downtown with little else going on. If they put it some sort of ventilation or air filtration system they would be four stars in my book. read more

My husband and I were here a few months back and had just a wonderful, very relaxing time. It is just right for an after dinner hangout late into the night. Not crowded, at least when were there on a weekday, not expensive, nice and dark and comfortable. A smaller, laid back location to chill. We went so my husband and brother could enjoy a beer and a cigar late on a Saturday night. The fact they are still selling cigars late into the night is a nice plus even if you don't want to stay and enjoy the cigar in the shop. I was in town and wanted a place to relax and smoke a cigar. I also wanted to get out of the 111 degree heat! I really appreciated 17th street lounge. The humidor is well stocked with reasonably priced cigars. There are several rooms in which to be seated on large leather couches, chairs or at the beer/wine bar. There was strong ventilation , good air conditioning and very friendly staff. I recommend it on any day. I'll be back when next I am in Bakersfield. read more
